Hiking and Camping at West Hawk Lake, Manitoba

- This vlog will be focusing more on hikes. We covered 2 hiking trails in one day! The first one is the Dragon Fire located at our campsite. It's a short hiking trail, 1.1 km in total . This trail takes you up the cliffs above West Hawk Lake where you can see the magnificent view of the West Hawk marina and beaches. Watching the sun rises, and capturing some amazing photos are definitely the highlight of our trip. The story behind the formation of the West Hawk Lake is mind blowing. I couldn't believe that I would be standing and swimming in an area where the Dinosaurs once roamed!
Later, we explored Hunt Lake Trail. It's a 10 minute drive from our campground. Hunt Lake Trail is a hard one. The terrain of this route is pretty rugged as the winding trail follows alongside the shore of West Hawk Lake, there's some narrow path, passing other hikers could be a challenge, we waited until we get to an open area to let them pass around us. It involves steep climbs and descents on rock walls and has lots of roots and rocks on the path. The rocks are slippery in some areas so watch where you’re stepping. I would recommend to wear the right hiking shoes for good grip. There are amazing scenic views of the lake along the way with some great swimming spots to take a refreshing dip. Close to the beginning of the trail, there is a really cool cave in a vertical rock wall with trees growing through the rocks that makes for great photos. The trail is mostly shaded but there were some areas in full sun.
