Friday Night Funkin' is an open-source rhythm game released on Newgrounds in
2020. The game is developed by a small group called The Funkin' Crew Inc., which consists of Cameron "ninjamuffin99" Taylor, David "PhantomArcade" Brown, Isaac
"Kawai Sprite" Garcia, and evilsk8r. The game shares some gameplay features with Dance Dance Revolution, PaRappa the Rapper, and the "Dance Contest" minigame from Club Penguin, and borrows aesthetic influences from Flash games.The game has been credited with driving users back to Newgrounds, a site whose popularity peaked in the early 2000s. The game revolves around the player character, Boyfriend, who must defeat a variety of opponents in singing and rapping contests in order to continue dating his love interest, Girlfriend. Gameplay involves hitting notes with timed inputs while avoiding running out of health for the duration of the song. The game was initially created for the Ludum Dare 47 game jam on October 5, 2020. An expanded demo was released on November 1, 2020, with updates continually released in the following months.
A full version of the game backed by Kickstarter, titled Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game, is in development. Friday Night Funkin' is a rhythm game in which the player controls a character called Boyfriend, who must defeat a series of opponents in order to continue dating his significant other, Girlfriend. The player must pass multiple levels, referred to as "weeks" in-game, containing three songs each. Each week, the player faces a different opponent, though some deviate in structure from this via the inclusion of multiple opponents. During gameplay, the opponent will sing a pattern of notes (represented as arrows) which the player must then mirror by using the arrow keys or the W, A, S, and D keys. Some songs introduce more complicated patterns, with the player's pattern sometimes varying from the opponent's or both singers engaging in a duet. For each week, the player has the option to select one of three difficulties:
Easy, Normal, or Hard. As the difficulty increases, the speed of incoming arrows increases, and the patterns of arrows become more complex. The player's high score for each week on each difficulty is tracked and shown in the top corner of the week selection screen. The game contains two different modes of play: a story campaign in which songs are played linearly, and a "free play" mode which allows for free selection of any of the game's music tracks.

Man I wish more of these type of covers had the mimicked voices in act 4... And possibly a creative dead GF animations instead of using the Mario's Madness one
well, it's often that the thing being covered doesn't have too many characters so it would be a weird to only have the mimics happening late in the song or stopping halfway through. the gf one i do agree with though

Well there’s a slight difference and problem. For dead gfs sprite you’d have to make it peetty bloodied up if you were to make one from scratch,and people usually don’t have the time to make the sprites if they announced the cover,so therefore they use the original dead gf sprites/sprite and just change her chromatics and pitch so it’s not the exact same

Random backstory for this: basically bf and gf ended up having a battle against the main protagonist which got them killed this angered literally everyone as now there’s no one to get in the way of the prototype even catnap is pissed so they all decide to work together just to kill bf and gf

damn, i actually thought of this, except it was alot more different, gf would've been replaced by ollie ( ollie would probably just be the telephone held up by a string on bf's grabpack :/ ) , omega would've been catnap's nightmarish/hallucination form, and it would've took place on the elevator you took to evade catnap before facing him head on, huggy and dogday would've switched places, since you know, both LG and DD are cut in half, i don't know how ACT 3 would've made sense traditionally so it would've been the trippy flashback scene that happened after catnap took your gas mask, and act 4 during bf's solo would have you switch to CatNap's side as he ends up being burned alive by the electric shock, and then the prototype coming in, the ending would be, well... his death scene.

Would have been cool if catnap started mimicking the other smiling critters voices
lost potentential: the final death screen it could have been the prototype's hand stabbing bf in the heart(like it does when perforing cat nap head), but instead of just holding it still, it would hold it in its hand so it implies it took bf too (like ultra M does in the original mod).
also this is just werid for me, but doggy day and vhs huggy would bee cooler to be swapped since dogday doesnt have legs just like that luigi and vhs huggy does when he becomes fully corporeal
Nice cover!! but one thing... the trio part of act two the characters sometimes don't like sound good together if you get what I mean :p
(it would be cool if you like fixed a little bit the vocals as on that and also on Catnaps vocals on act four)

Poppy and Kissy weren't there to intercept bf , they were just there to advise Bf and warn him about the followin' opponents(even Kissy roared at bf , she was just like thinkin' about bf bein' the same as her victims and Poppy literally ignored that and bein' like Kissy didn't do anything)But it just what i guess.... i'm not sure if that was true

In my personal opinion I really wish when, Gx appears
I wish the prototype was holding Gf, when Ultra m when does his speech it would be cool if catnap would use the red gas to make a boyfriend hallucinate,he was going to his nightmare self (aka skeleton boy) and I really wish at the end catnap would sacrifice himself to the prototype, and that's how the song would end but, that's just my personal opinion though overall I really like this

My only complaints are that you got rid of the act 3 lyrics and I was hoping that catnap would mimic the voices of the characters he turned into in the act 1 intro in act 4.
Those are both two things I actually really wanted to include but just didn’t work out with the cover
