  • A powerful, often undervalued book of the New Testament in that James writes from a unique perspective as the (half) brother of the Lord Jesus Christ. Raised in the same household, by the same parents, it stands to reason that he would have had a much longer relationship, and deeper understanding of who Jesus actually was - especially in hindsight, and with 4000 years of specific biblical prophecy in hand.
James only believed upon the Lord Jesus as Messiah after His resurrection, having previously come to “rescue” his older brother (Jesus) with the rest of his family (including Mary and Jude), from creating an embarrassment, and possibly being killed for His lifegiving Words.
The latter proved to be the case, but not for the reasons that James (or Jude) would ever have thought. However, we see in the Book of James, that he regards Jesus no longer as brother, but as Lord, calling himself a bondservant of the Lord Jesus Christ - the eternal God.
What a transformation, and what a powerful testimony to the Truth about our Lord Jesus Christ.
James shares many profound truths that not only affirm the rest of written scripture (amazing in itself), but he also teaches us much about the deeper meaning of these truths, inlcluding the attributes of God, that could only have been gleaned from his older brother - His Lord and Saviour - Jesus the Messiah.
