That's neat that they can replace the entire panel. Hmm... I see a Ship of Theseus conundrum in the future of Black Hole owners.

Replaced a 12 year old 60L Black Hole with this newer 55L. It actually feels bigger, but not in a good way. I used to pack mine to the brim and easily carry it in airports, either with the top straps, the side handles, or shoulder straps. Tried that with this one, and it was just so unwieldy. The bag seems wider which causes issues with the weight distribution. It swings wildly as I carry it, both making it difficult to walk and tiring me out at the same time. The side handles also have rough edges now which are uncomfortable and feel like they are cutting into the skin. This bag redesign was a fail.

The self back-patting is strong in this update. The hidden costs ( not just money) with the recycle, repurpose, sustainability is is significant, and is kept silent or downplayed. Besides, the real reason for this update is the discontinuation of the other shiny one because lack of durability and P got tired of paying for replacements. Business decision, nothing more.

Thanks for this video AJ. Nice setting!
For the sake of having come down from the Patagonia cloud, please allow me to sum up their how-to-be-more-sustainable update :
    - 100% recycled plastic; because there is no other material more sustainable than that
    - TPU from waste; because there always will be TPU manufacturing and we might as well make it more efficient (and justify it)
    - For repairs, they stock new, full-size plastic panels in their repair center instead of using smaller pieces like patches; sorry i can't turn this one upside down it just doesn't make sense
    - New update, so maybe buy another for the collection!
I have a vision of Patagonia where it's actually sustainable; but it is quite a stretch from where they are now.
It's a shame 'cause they manage to make people believe they are making good!

I like how light my black hole is, but the base camps are so much more durable. I feel like the black hole is gonna rip whenever it gets tossed around. The base camps on the other hand are much older and show no signs of wear
