Good video - only thing I do differently is when applying the solution, I start at the bottom and work my way up, this slows the running or cascading of the solution down the siding allowing it to dwell, or stick to the surface longer.
FYI clean walls from bottom up prevents runs or streaking caused by cleaner spray or dripping. My grandma taught me that over 60 years ago. Back in the day when you had to spring clean walls after a winter of coal heat.
Grandma was right. I remember coal heat. It might have been a little dirty at times but it sure was hot heat. Had to open the windows sometimes if you added too much coal and draft.
This is how we washed walls in the spring due to heavy cigarette smokers plus a gas stove. One time i decided towash from the top down. Bad idea, there were runs down the wall. Scrubbing them didn't work and the wall had to be repainted!
Great job. But, rule of thumb here, when using the bleach in the sprayer, start at the bottom and go up to help avoid streaking. Words of experience here. Thank you for sharing. I had never thought of the pool chemical and this could have really helped me in the past!!! Now I know and next time will have your tip. I had mildew on painted eaves in our last house and we tried bleach, vinegar, and other made-for-mildew chemicals we bought at big box stores, scrubbing with brushes, pressure washing and it ALWAYS came back so it was such a huge job every year. As we were aging we decided to downsize and move out of city limits (due to outrageous property taxes due to a new mega-high school which they promised would only raise the average homeowner $40/year and ours went up about $400 and others MUCH more as they re-assessed). Another reason we sold our old house was because it was 3,000 sq ft and was harder to maintain being so large with just the 2 of us. I loved our old house and where it was, it was our dream home. But keeping that much up is a job. It was a 4 sided brick house but had painted eaves and soffits/facias and window framing. So we were having to scrub all that due to mildew every year. I believe, if it hadn't been for the property taxes and that particular maintenance job (which we could no longer do ourselves and was expensive to pay to have it done every year), we might would have kept our home. If I had just known your tip and if they didn't blow up the high school budget for a new high school (going many millions over budget and lying about the effect on our taxes) I could have stayed in our old house. But I'm not complaining as we downsized to an 1,800 sq ft house with a nice large yard, it's 4 sided brick and has vinyl eaves and soffits/facias and so far (2 yrs) no mildew.
I usually use water and regular bleach at a 10:1 ratio. I will try this product the next time. Thank you for sharing this information. Iced tea is my daily drink of choice. If with company out for dinner then I like a JD and Sprite with an orange twist.

Oh wow. I just ran across this channel. Every year this happens to the north side of our house. In fact it's on my list of things to get done Asap. I hate doing it. But thank you for your tips. Keep your videos coming.
You can use the bleach from the dollar store. Its not as strong as the pool product so it doesn't need diluting, but it's just as effective, and cost less. Bleach is also recommend for cleaning asphalt shingles. Just be sure to water down and plants or scrubs. FYI - don't use bleach on concrete or cement. A good product for cleaning concrete/cement is Wet and Forget. Wet and Forget is also good for cleaning your family headstones, just "wet it" and "forget it".
My formula is.. 2-3 cups bleach and a cup of Purple Power (makes a gallon), mist it on, allow to work for 3-5 min and rinse off with a strong spray of water. Made my vinyl siding look amazing!
I would use white vinegar. Works just as good but no damage to your plants and no respirator required. Might need to scrub a little but otherwise easy job.
I do professional pressure washing and you will not damage or dull paint if diluted properly. Typical mix is 7:1 or 10:1 water to bleach (sodium hypochlorite) depending on how bad the mildew is. If concerned, test your mix in a small area then rinse.
I use 1 gallon of water to 10oz of liquid chlorine and good splash of dawn soap. Works just as well as in the video. Using chlorine straight up is way overkill. Also wash your windows if you spray them with chlorine/mix. It doesn't completely wash off with the hose and will stain/etch the glass
If your garden plants are too close to the filthy walls to risk using bleach, I am a fan of Joy dish washing detergent for washing outdoor surfaces. Joy will not harm your plants at all but is actually beneficial to them.
