    My girlfriend ran the medical centre at Shepperton Studios in the early 2000's. I popped in to see her and saw Patrick's name and direct number on the studio directory. I nervously called him and introduced myself as a fellow musician and composer and he immediately invited me to pop over to his building! We spent the whole day chatting, playing music and listening to the soundtrack he was working on. What a wonderful, generous and inspiring man.

    I’ve always loved Patrick’s music, and it’s such a treat to hear him discuss his creative process, and get a glimpse of his character. Such a joy. ✨

    This is really an incredible interview and has come along at just the right time for me. I'll especially remember what Mr Doyle said about accenting the positive and your amazing line - "You don't need to bully people to get the best out of them". I think in the arts industries especially it's very important to have discussions like this.

    I don't know how many are the same, but I can definitely relate to Mr. Doyle in being mentally lethargic one minute and up and ready the next. The trick is getting around it in any way you can (when commissioned to compose, but also any field).

    This just made me feel very emotional - particularly at the end there, when he was talking about Stout’s performance and Scottish trad music.

    Fantastic interview. Learned so much from that (& some good 'life' advice too - not just applicable to music). Wish it'd have been longer

    it´s always inspiring to see "Grand Signeurs" of some genre being very down to earth, maybe a little lost in the own microcosm but most of all likable.

      I've noticed that on my music videos - there are some people who must delight in going round 'disliking' stuff that isn't immediately of interest or taste. I just ignore it now.

    • @WJNygaard
      @WJNygaard 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't dislike the video, but I kind of get bored of watching video's of them just doodling on a piano. To me, that's such an archaic way of doing it. It's like they bang out the tune and then they make everything fall into place.

      They only start recording after the third one, otherwise the composers dont speak on camera.
      They're always smashed.

    He seems like a good person with a good heart. I'm not being disrespectful, but I find it at some point difficult to understand his words. This man truly is talented. He made two of my favorite albums; Thor and Cinderella. Is there anyway you guys can contact him and request the Cinderella orchestra sheet music? At least the "La Valse de L' Amour" track, please :)

      Scottish can be a tough cadence to follow at times. Use the closed captions option.
