There are two different service resets, one for "minor" and one for "major", the latter of which requires the hazards to be on as you mention. Thanks for watching!
Thaaaank Youuu!!! 5 months, 4 Mechanics (including a dealership) and I can FINALLY turn off this NIGHTMARE of a light!! Now to deal with the near-weekly tire pressure light or the other ~10,000 unnecessary lights, beeps, bells/whistles, or other obnoxious software features that would best be left OFF cars entirely as we advocate for vehicle manufacturers to embrace minimalism, remove sensors, remove lights/reminders/bells/etc as the root of the problem is the existence of them + the incompetence of seemingly every mechanic including dealerships with regard to turning off these unnecessary modern additions.
Thanks for watching! Your issues are exactly why my preference is generally towards older vehicles, though once you know the control systems and nuances thereof in new vehicles they're not terrible to deal with.
I have watched 20 or more videos about resetting the wrench your way was easiest and actually worked everyone else is talking about hazards lights, hold break, hold both buttons and turn key same time. Literally waste of my time
You're probably trying to reset the major service light, there's a different procedure. Slightly different, involves the emergency blinkers...I've only done it once or twice myself, as I use a scan tool to reset now. Thanks for watching!
It's actually easy to believe because of how this is explained. You don't push the ignition switch, you turn it. And you don't say whether you turn it over or to the 1st or 2nd turn. And then he says, ok so we're back now...Back from what? That's why everyone is not good at giving instructions. You have to instruct as if you're giving it to someone who has zero knowledge.
It does not, that'll reset automatically once you put a new bulb in. If it doesn't, you might have more out or may have an electrical malfunction. Thanks for watching!
could you please give me a tip how to change miles to km on THIS type of instrument cluster. (i got vcds 17 but it saves only 24H-AMPM, F-C, but with distance and speed units it does not saves new param)
Interesting, if it can't be changed through VCDS I suppose you could ask a dealership if they can set it through the OEM VW system, but outside of that I'm honestly not sure. Thanks for watching!
I wish it would make my wrench go away but that doesn't work either. Maybe something is broken on mine! I guess I'll have to take it in to see why it won't reset.
Hello. I have a passat that has the clocks the same as you do, but it does not show me the speed and range as it is to you. Can you tell me what code your watch has?
If you are talking about in the center display, there is no coding needed to have speed and range show - all you need to use is the up and down buttons on the tip of the wiper stalk to scroll through the options. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!
What do you do if the wrench still comes on? I can never get the wrench to go away and I always look up the video to reset after an oil change since I do them on my own and I follow the instructions to the T but it always remains on!
There is a different procedure for the longer service intervals that involves turning on the emergency flashers - I always forget the exact sequence but if you find that online, that'll probably get you taken care of. Thanks for watching!
There is a different method to reset the indicator for major (20k mile, IIRC) services. If I remember correctly, it is a sequence involving turning on the emergency flashers for a time, combined with some creative button pressing, I'm sure you can find the information online armed with that knowledge. Thanks for watching!
It does, but not for the major service reset. For that there is a different procedure involving the emergency flashers that will reset it. Thanks for watching!
There is another procedure that I've not done a video on yet that involves the emergency flashers being on - that takes care of it. I have a VCDS system now that I use to reset the service lights instead though, so I've not gone through this process in a while. Thanks for watching!
Didn’t work for me unless hazards are switched on. Must be different for push button and key only models
There are two different service resets, one for "minor" and one for "major", the latter of which requires the hazards to be on as you mention. Thanks for watching!
I come back to this video every 2 months as I forget lmao
I come back to my own video to remember how to do it, so don't feel bad...lol. Thanks for watching!

How do you get the mph display
You should just be able to scroll thru the menus to get to it, using the wiper stalk or buttons on the steering wheel. Thanks for watching!

How do you reset the Diesel Exhaust Fluid check engine light after adding fluid? It stayed on.
Not sure, that I would consult the owner's manual about first and foremost. I have limited experience with TDI cars. Thanks for watching!

I don't have a wrench. I have a large bright Orange Oil can that tells me I need an Oil change.

It does, but not for the major service reset. For that there is a different procedure involving the emergency flashers that will reset it. Thanks for watching!
Does not work with key ignition because it did nothing to my car
This does not work.
It does for minor service resets, larger interval services (majors) require a different procedure. Thanks for watching!
This isn’t working for me either and I don’t have any major issues with my car. It’s in perfect condition and I get the oil changed regularly.
