I was doing an ice strike monk and having a horrible time - respecc’d to this version and immediately took down the Act 2 boss which I was struggling to even get to with the other build - hopefully it will continue to slap
Skryah mentions it, but using Inspiration over Crescendo as your 5th link solves all your mana issues. I prefer using Charged strike, to me it feels more fluid, less jerky and the damage helps me pick off the smaller packs quicker than relying on Shattering Palm. I can see it being a preference, especially as your damage scales, but I recommend trying it.
@@devaalous Sorry, Charged Staff. It's the buff that consumes power charges and shoots lighting waves in front to you. It's in the skill guide, OP mostly recommends it for bosses but I find it much more fluid for mapping as well.
@@setcamper I see, I also use it for general mapping for me since i have 20% quality on it and it lasts for 52 seconds really feels nice but just a question, Do you still use shattering palm if not what skill did you change it for?
@@devaalous I still use shattering palm, it's a solid initiator/mobility skill where we have none and it's invaluable during breaches/expeditions and solid in Ritual and some annoying maps where it's easy to get surrounded awkwardly. There's a unique ring, Polcirkeln, that shatters chilled enemies (goes for ~25-30ex) that could probably replace palm but I haven't tried it because I don't want to loose chaos resistance.
@@setcamper Huge thanks for mentioning Polcirkeln, it made a really huge difference when clearing and doing breaches basically anything with crazy mob density. Its a night and day difference my clear now feels zoomy as hell and it almost feels like POE 1. Although i had trouble fitting my resistances i unfortunately had to change my boots but it all worked out in the end. I saw it selling for 1 divine and filtered in the trade to only see it selling for Exalts and i got it for 30ex, Definately a huge upgrade in my clear.
Awesome work ! There is one thing I didn't quite understand though : on bossing setup, how do you shock (to proc CoS) if you don't have charged staff up and you don't have power charge ? Currently, I don't have enough spirit (currently 212 spirit) to keep up Combat Frenzy + CoS (to get the 1st power charge through first freeze and then shock with charged staff) so I'm chargeless and I can't proc CoS to get them Love what you did though ! Thanks if you answer, take care.
@@bicepsking Yeah, kinda, but before the first freeze, it could take some time especially against pinnacle bosses. But it is strange because on Breach Boss, I get charges before freezing him and I don't have any power charges generation besides Combat Frenzy. I'm looking into it
@@nicolascarton2642 get 4 hits on the boss and put down your bell. Your bell freezes almost instantly when you attack it, and voila! You have your first power charge.
This is the best build and the one I am using :D thank you Skryah! Question: Any reason why Slicing Staff is better here for end game? Is it just the crit chance?
My build is pretty similar. Im in t6 maps rn and i dont really feel the need to use charge staff yet. Hopefully i can make it work without. Ice strike just feels so good
This was exactly what I was looking for, thank you. I made it into T7 maps without looking at a build, something I am trying to do more of, but was struggling with survivability. This is super close to what I had, I was just lacking charged staff component. Really looking forward to trying this
FYI - after the patch it is a lot easier to cap resistances, so i'd suggest going for one unset ring to get an extra skill slot and start using grim feast. it really boosts your defences by alot while mapping ( ofc it doesnt help you for bosses ). running around with 4k es while also having about 2.1-2.2k~ life feels really good. i'm also doing 3 ailments ( ignite, shock, freeze ) with having fire dmg on the staff for ignite, using charged strike for the shock and obiously ice strike for freeze and my damage is even way beyond what is shown here. bear in mind that my gear is really, really insane, so it's not just because this is absolutely broken, it's because i have insane gear. ya'll should also consider going for the stormcharged ( 40% increased elemental dmg if you've dealt a crit recently + 20% increased critical hit chance) anoint, it's way better imo.
Question: Losing 10% evasion for 60-70% armor - is this actually worth it? Going down from 83 to 72% evasion and I feel like I get the one shots a lot more often.
ive had so much fun with this build... although i picked the early version and kinda improvised a bit with it. I am still running charged staff for mapping since i dont yet have enough spirit to slide in Charge Infusion. Unbound Avatar i never felt the need to use so i didnt bother picking it up. Instead i went directly for the "Sunder My Enemies". I am still running frost bomb to apply some extra exposure but i am considering removing it completely from my build as i often forget to even use it :D The only issues i have encountered so far is Trial of Sehkemas but that might be skill issue. Ive never been good at "no hit runs"
Personally I think cast on freeze with profane ritual is the way to go for generating power charges. The fixed time cap on the resonance-frenzy just limits you too much. Once you get the profane ritual+cast on freeze going it slaps. Edit: Didn’t see the post patch buff! I’m wrong.
Combat frenzy got insanely buffed to give you a charge every 1.8s (as mentioned in the video), making it definetly superior to CoF profane ritual now (specially since you need bodies for profane ritual and shattering frozen enemies dont leave any)
2 questions: What is the desired accuracy rating so bosses won't dodge in end game? And is there no way to solve mana issues to put +melee skills on weapon? I would really appreciate the help. Loving and playing this build for 100 hours now ❤
I’m at around 2700 accuracy with no precision, so use precision it could really help if you notice bosses are evading hits. Regarding +skills, I wouldn’t use it since the build is primarily focused on crit, so getting crit chance and +skills on your quarter staff will be incredibly luck based or stupid expensive. Instead of +skills, I would suggest focusing on getting and attack speed of at least 1.75 and a crit chance of 14% on your quarter staff. Cheers!
Note: The planner may need to be updated. It says you need 235 spirit to make it all work. However, The pre 50% crit setup only needs 175 The mapping setup only needs 205 The bossing setup only needs 220
I found myself that BEST stat on weapon is actually - besides ofc high physical dps - "elemental damage with attacks". I've got myself a staff with 600+ physical dps, 26% attack speed and crazy 117% elemental damage with attacks" and my 5-linked only 18 lvl ice strike tooltip shows 158k dps while unbuffed. For example pinnacle boss fight in breach tooked me like 15 seconds xD Same like 4th ascendancy boss fight - its just crazy!
My Monk is lvl 20 and I have crafted a staff with 60-89 physical and plus 20% physical amongst other good stats and I'm destroying everything with one button Cold strike. Literally don't need another skill other than bell for bosses. Its insane fun
There's a note on it in the written guide. "EVEN MORE CLEARSPEED: Swap one ring for Polcirkeln. Enjoy one-tapping two screens. Remove Elemental Focus from Herald of Ice Add Magnified Effect and Ambush to Herald of Ice "
I lobe the monk almost as i would love the Paladin. I would play it in every way, shape or form. I hope they'll do some unarmed skills, cause i would really see something like "Way of a hundred fists" or "seven sided strike"....i'd go crazy if i could play it as a Fist of the North Star anime.....
@@Zizaran Do you think the mana issues are significant enough to take mana regen draught instead? If you could go back and choose the Draughts again would you still go with element threshold and chaos res?
I'd skip cast on shock, it's the most spirit-hungry buff out there and it's mostly there in the build for very high end bosses, it's useless for the most part in mapping.
I have my own hybrid build + my own skill combination for survivability. Personally I think all of the builds so far, only demo endgame. Raxx is the closest for leveling, but his build lack survivaibility. MY own twist added that it is soo much better now.
Just curious - Echoing Frost and Echoing Thunder seem fitting in this build and the surrounding small nodes are good too. but I never saw you mention it. Are they actually bad?
I think I have one of the best quarterstaff in game so far. Phy dmg 275-450, crit hit chance 4.66% ( in weapon is 16.16%, +4 to melee skills, Acu & int
I have pretty good gear, doinh endgame maps etc but i cant finish trial of will. Any tips? Recommended defensive stats? I usually end up honor drained in the middle of everything
Could we please specify the amount of evasion required to sustain all of the auras? How much evasion are we looking for, also can we sacrifice energy shield on body armor for more evasion to sustain more auras?
physical support gems do not work, conversion functions differently in poe2 than it did in poe1, in that your converted damage no longer cares about modifiers to it's source damage type. I can't afford a ryslatha's coil to test right now but I would stongly suspect that it doesn't work either

Since with all increases, 150% from 13.34 Base Crit igets you to like 33% Crit, while at 10% Base it onyl gets you to 25%.
Can this guy make a TH-cam channel?
The video and build explanation was concise and perfect. I'm not well crafted in PoE but I understood all the build without getting lost
I was going to make a Ranger at some point, but this build looks kinda interesting and straight forward
Ive been doing sanctum and maps all morning didnt even notice freeze nerf. Shocked my first character blind build has turned out so well.
@@Esteban45696 I think freeze nerf was for the builds with zero freeze investment still chain freezing bosses like the lightning invoker build.
No the freeze nerf is for those that has low dmg. Not for those that dont have freeze build up.@@alexmo1941
Having any success in sanctum with this? I get owned so hard in sanctum as melee. Even when freezing stuff, there are mechanics that just does not play nice with melee range (terracotta twins, unique mobs with thorn effects, ground effects under mobs etc).
@@KarmaKahn You need to be stacking 75% honor resistance from the relics. Its a breeze when you do that.
@@alexmo1941 I only got around 65% atm. I will try a storm wave build next I think with the buff to electrocute. All of the benefits of CC, but with range.
@skryah Hey man, any plans on like a final step of high investment/minmax version of the build? I've followed your guide, and managed to get the build to its max sort of, wondering what the next steps are to make it kill bosses even faster etc :) I was also wondering about values on crit dmg bonus compared to higher phys on wep. All the best!
Love that I was doing pretty much all of this already! Such a fun character to play!
I guess worth saving the links of the other 2 guides you posted
Hey Mr Editor, Can you add a link to your filter, going crazy trying to make my own without the filterblade website :D
Everyone is using neversink.
Nice to see some of my suggestions found a home
Awesome Video! Would have been nice if you could have shown the detailed stats of frost strike briefly. (to see how high of a crit chance you managed to reach so far. purely curiosity)
Casual player here, all of your guides have been super helpful. I'm having a blast. Big thank you mister editor.
Great guide! Do you level up the quality of ALL skills with Ice Strike and Tempest the priorities or no need to level them all?
I made a monk to test this build yesterday, now im in act 3 blasting frost bonks :D
Build is so fun to play!
This guy should get hired by maxroll! Loving this
I was doing an ice strike monk and having a horrible time - respecc’d to this version and immediately took down the Act 2 boss which I was struggling to even get to with the other build - hopefully it will continue to slap
Skryah mentions it, but using Inspiration over Crescendo as your 5th link solves all your mana issues.
I prefer using Charged strike, to me it feels more fluid, less jerky and the damage helps me pick off the smaller packs quicker than relying on Shattering Palm. I can see it being a preference, especially as your damage scales, but I recommend trying it.
whats chargesd strike ? i dont see it in the skill gem tabs
Currently, I don't have enough spirit (currently 212 spirit) to keep up Combat Frenzy + CoS (to get the 1st power charge through first freeze and then shock with charged staff) so I'm chargeless and I can't proc CoS to get them
Love what you did though !
Thanks if you answer, take care.
dont you just freeze the boss once to get a power charge?
Gothic Quarterstaff is better but this staff was just a really good deal.
Crit chance is the best stat.
-Skryah
@@Zizaran thanks for the reply, good to know!
Really looking forward to trying this
Pick elemental expression next to proc your herald of ice and drop shattering palm as it's a really clunky ability, imo
I still feel immense sadness for being a chalupa instead of invoker
RIP Chalupas XD
Lol😂 chalupas. I ended up running a second monk just to get invoker smh. Being new to arpg games and having to do this was disheartening
that thing is a bait and a half.
Great guide. What about adding just a bit of fire damage to increase bell multiplier?
That's not how it works. Igniting the bell will make it deal more fire damage, which we don't do.
-skryah
Can grim feast even work with shattered enemies?
@@alexmo1941 yes it most definitely does
@@meeptoss it does NOT work on shattered enemies. Only on intact deceased enemies so to speak.
how do u get that much energy shield, its hard to get much i only have 1.3k and 2.6 with grim feast with 74% evasion
is the 50% crit chance on the ice strike before or after any buffs?
Question: Losing 10% evasion for 60-70% armor - is this actually worth it? Going down from 83 to 72% evasion and I feel like I get the one shots a lot more often.
I’ve been playing this build and damn is it fun.
ive had so much fun with this build... although i picked the early version and kinda improvised a bit with it. I am still running charged staff for mapping since i dont yet have enough spirit to slide in Charge Infusion. Unbound Avatar i never felt the need to use so i didnt bother picking it up. Instead i went directly for the "Sunder My Enemies". I am still running frost bomb to apply some extra exposure but i am considering removing it completely from my build as i often forget to even use it :D
The only issues i have encountered so far is Trial of Sehkemas but that might be skill issue. Ive never been good at "no hit runs"
I lost so much survivability speccing into protect me from harm it’s crazy
Personally I think cast on freeze with profane ritual is the way to go for generating power charges. The fixed time cap on the resonance-frenzy just limits you too much. Once you get the profane ritual+cast on freeze going it slaps.
Edit: Didn’t see the post patch buff! I’m wrong.
post frenzy buff?
Combat frenzy got insanely buffed to give you a charge every 1.8s (as mentioned in the video), making it definetly superior to CoF profane ritual now (specially since you need bodies for profane ritual and shattering frozen enemies dont leave any)
As the others said, the buff to combat frenzy and sniper's mark have fixed those issues entirely. Charges are smooth now!
-Skryah
2 questions:
What is the desired accuracy rating so bosses won't dodge in end game?
Cheers!
Question about the planner - how are you running 150 spirit worth of persistent buffs with no extra spirit on gear?
Ascendancy point for invoker. Gives you spirit based on the evasion and energy shield of your body armor.
The planner needs updated with the gear he is using and the passives are incomplete on the planner.
Note: The planner may need to be updated. It says you need 235 spirit to make it all work. However,
The pre 50% crit setup only needs 175
The mapping setup only needs 205
The bossing setup only needs 220
I found myself that BEST stat on weapon is actually - besides ofc high physical dps - "elemental damage with attacks". I've got myself a staff with 600+ physical dps, 26% attack speed and crazy 117% elemental damage with attacks" and my 5-linked only 18 lvl ice strike tooltip shows 158k dps while unbuffed. For example pinnacle boss fight in breach tooked me like 15 seconds xD Same like 4th ascendancy boss fight - its just crazy!
Can confirm its true but how tf did u get such a weapon but no currency for a 6 link haha
thats insane, mine is a 500 dps staff but my icestrike is only 41k,how did u get that much
My Monk is lvl 20 and I have crafted a staff with 60-89 physical and plus 20% physical amongst other good stats and I'm destroying everything with one button Cold strike. Literally don't need another skill other than bell for bosses. Its insane fun
When I saw the build I knew the gameplay would be Skryah's character!!
What are you thoughts on polcirkeln? when to use / not use. TY and sick video!
There's a note on it in the written guide.
"EVEN MORE CLEARSPEED:
Swap one ring for Polcirkeln. Enjoy one-tapping two screens.
Remove Elemental Focus from Herald of Ice
Add Magnified Effect and Ambush to Herald of Ice
"
@@SenorSmaySmay polcirkeln are selling like hot cakes
unbound avatar - You are using Fire Mastery, is that correct? Wouldn't ice mastery be correct?
I lobe the monk almost as i would love the Paladin. I would play it in every way, shape or form. I hope they'll do some unarmed skills, cause i would really see something like "Way of a hundred fists" or "seven sided strike"....i'd go crazy if i could play it as a Fist of the North Star anime.....
Love this build! Using this until I get enough currency to go for tri stat legionnaire :D
I just did a full respec to this tree at level 73, and I lost a whopping 20k dps. The math ain't mathing here.
@Skryah What are the 2 Potion/Draught you selected in your quest ? (perma buff) ?
Elemental Ailment Threshold in normal, Chaos Resistance in cruel.
-Skryah
@@Zizaran Do you think the mana issues are significant enough to take mana regen draught instead? If you could go back and choose the Draughts again would you still go with element threshold and chaos res?
@@alexmo1941 Me when i ask myself if i was satisfied with my life decisions when i was a teenager

Excellent! How would you prioritize the Buffs while we get more Spirit?
I'd skip cast on shock, it's the most spirit-hungry buff out there and it's mostly there in the build for very high end bosses, it's useless for the most part in mapping.
I have my own hybrid build + my own skill combination for survivability. Personally I think all of the builds so far, only demo endgame. Raxx is the closest for leveling, but his build lack survivaibility. MY own twist added that it is soo much better now.
can you share your setup? I am in T15 and start feeling survivability issue. Thanks!
@@leniusxue6541 what build are you following so far?
Gj Man thanx for build on Maxroll e nice video is a funny ahahaha
Your not abusing anything your just a guy with a stick hitting a bell! Legendary comment
why is the talent tree different from the video and the maxroll website ? which one is the most optimal
One question if you put some points into accuracy does it count into this build?
Hi. Build looks good. Why do you have two staves ?
how u have that filter? can u give a link please
Just curious - Echoing Frost and Echoing Thunder seem fitting in this build and the surrounding small nodes are good too. but I never saw you mention it. Are they actually bad?
I think I have one of the best quarterstaff in game so far. Phy dmg 275-450, crit hit chance 4.66% ( in weapon is 16.16%, +4 to melee skills, Acu & int
have you tried just using eye of winter on the bell to proc it too cause it pumps the entire bell instantly
Keen to hear your thoughts on Crescendo vs Concentrated Effect! When I swap out concentrated effect to crescendo my dps drops from 40k to 28k
interesting its true
I might have missed that but are you using shattering palm to dash to targets or is that just the built-in dash from ice strike?
I have pretty good gear, doinh endgame maps etc but i cant finish trial of will. Any tips? Recommended defensive stats? I usually end up honor drained in the middle of everything
Hey @Skryah, would this build ever want to scale into a CI setup ?
Really awesome guide! I think Ziz need to take a stop back and become your Editor instead, lmao. Jk. Really well done!
are we supposed to get throatseeker early on? it reduces crit chance
where did you get that high int? should we prioritize int in the passive skill tree?
Yeah, I was wondering where the INT came from as well.
Or you use like a gear Piece with like +30int
Could we please specify the amount of evasion required to sustain all of the auras? How much evasion are we looking for, also can we sacrifice energy shield on body armor for more evasion to sustain more auras?
About 800 evasion and 350 es
physical support gems do not work, conversion functions differently in poe2 than it did in poe1, in that your converted damage no longer cares about modifiers to it's source damage type. I can't afford a ryslatha's coil to test right now but I would stongly suspect that it doesn't work either
Wouldnt it make sense to make use of some Cast On Crit skills too?
