I had the high VP problem around lvl 30. Since I couldn't beat many bases on my map, I started just focusing on upgrading offense and put my hq on the beach. It worked a charm and things balance out quite quickly, stronger offense and weaker bases. Now I'm lvl 45 with 530 vp. I get lvl 55 plus on my map, but have almost max troops and can take them out easy. My suggestion for anyone with the same problem is to just focus upgrading offense for a while, it will balance out sooner or later. 😀
you're forgetting harder bases = higher rewards. just stay away from the npc bases unless you need to take them down for like a big upgrade. dont upgrade defences because they are useless anyways. go full offense statues (mostly GBE probably) and try to get that 50% reward statue. just boost statues if you're going for a big upgrade and the bases are getting a bit too hard. Make your base as appealing as possible for the enemy too kill (HQ at the front, no defences near it). make it so that you can easily manage your stuff. upgrading houses is kinda neat to get that edge in upgrading gunboat stuff. always max boats,troops,gunboat and gunboat skills. dont bother taking down bases that give too low rewards. GL :)! ask me anything btw!
+Sam Verburg There are two styles to play. I want to include this so others can have a second option to yours. Your way is very offensive and the way I like to play is defensive. Getting both ice masterpieces and a health ice guardian will make it so someone needs to spend extra GBE on taking out defenses. If they choose to warrior rush they will be hard pressed if you have a proper base layout with resources buildings mixed in with defensive. Hide mines behind masterpieces and sniper towers to make it even hard on warrior rushes. Upgrade big defenses, boom cannons, cannons, rockets, shock launchers, flame throwers and cannons. Leave out machine guns and mortars because they aren't very useful in my opinion. I'm a level 43 with HQ 17 and I only get destroyed on average once per week. This allows me to build up resources and save for those big upgrades that others have to farm for and rise in victory points. Also having ice statues means you hold onto your resource bases much longer, thus gathering resources for you gradually over time rather than all at once. Also upgrade your production buildings as high as possible so you can get resources from those as well. Thus the core values of defensive mode are, only attack when necessary, gather resources from resource buildings and resource bases (take them back once lost), upgrade all production buildings as high as possible and let your base kick a*s. Also an important note, all others statues should be magma and dark. These will allow you the offensive power to take those bases back that you lose or destroy other player bases for when you need to do a big upgrade.
+Christian Giammichele Very nice and detailed explanation. I think the difference between defensive and offensive is the amount of time you want to spend playing boom beach per day. Offensive being on the high end. There is another plus side to being defensive, which is gathering Intel and of course diamonds while defending. Which you don't get with my offensive style. One thing to note about offense is that its probably more efficient (not in terms of time played/day but in terms of leveling up in the fastest way possible). Also i think its a little bit more of a challenge and it requires more strategy, planning and actual skill. (attacking high level bases) Would like to hear your thoughts :)

But what's nice about defense is that it allows those with busy lives(like me) to still play the game and not get penalized for not being on as much. What is nice about defense though is building the perfect base for all attack strategies and watching it defend successfully time after time :)
I remember you saying that in an older vid. So I put a stop on medal rising. I'm a 41 with 210vp ... I hardly ever get attacked. So I've just been building up. I think by the time I'm done upgrading my landing crafts a few times I should be close to upgrading my hq and get some scoooooorchers haha. That's just what's next on my list to do. I got boom three days ago. I'm a Coc veteran so I just attack and attack and attacked without knowing the whole VP problem. I'm now level 13 with 80 victory points and I cannot even touch any player/resource base on my map and I'm so desperate for resources every time an AI base pops up I take it out which increases my VP therefore putting me in deeper shit. I haven't got any defensive action expect for one scout even with my HQ on the edge of my beach. Coming from Coc this is a massive piss off and really stopped my game play. Super cell really needs to fix this whole system. Any other tips for me to bring down VP other then an exposed HQ?
the main problem with victory points-vp rises constantly throughout the game (same/base) but loot peaks with better bases aka higher vp. so if you are on low vp then you don't get enough loot. Then you hit the point where your bases have good loot so you attack more. You vp skyrockets.
How important is it too max out an HQ level. I always have maxed storages and can upgrade my HQ to 13 but i don't because i want to max out my current level. I can easily beat just about anyone on my map ~200 vp. Im level 34 and I can beat 36-40s. Should I upgrade my HQ or continue maxing my defenses?
I don't really have a problem with VP. Highest I hit was 494 at 46, but I did that to upgrade my HQ. Quickly went back down to 472. Which is where I can start taking player bases with just one statue boosted. I find this game keeps me pretty balanced. I crush people, gain points. Bases get too hard, I get crushed on Defense, I fall to the point where I can take out bases again.
Supercell needs to fix this im lvl 36 with 295 vic points and the easyest players that show up are lvl 46s that have shock launchers wtf.....anyway it needs to be matched by lvl
im a lvl 35 with 320-330 vp. i use t-meds and can comfortably take down up to lvl 46. after that i often lose cuz of time due to the shock launchers, which are annoying. what vp are others at my lvl??
Hi Ben. I think you miss out something important. Even if you don't want to raise vp it's still a good idea to keep attacking npc bases. When you win you gain a vp but when a new spawn you lose a vp so overall npc bases won't make you raise in vp. Attacking those will give you resources and power stones. You will even get prototype parts. The more npc bases you clear the faster new will spawn. Also building up resources will make people want to attack you which help dropping vp.
+softcorezg I checked my last 15 npc base attacks and saw that i didn't get 2 vp a single time which had me wonder about the chance of getting it. Looking in the wiki it seems to be not just random chance deciding it: When you start the game there's a pool og 200 bonus vp you can get as extra vp from npc bases. Once this pool is used up you can never get more than 1 vp from a npc base. So I would still recommend what I wrote above. Getting an extra vp once in a while from npc bases is ok when you compare to all the other rewards you might get with it. Also when the pool is used up my strategy should work just fine.
I've had to put my HQ at the front of my beach , nobody attacks me now lol , I've even put a big fuck off arrow of mines pointing at my HQ as a hint lol
Well I kinda had a problem when I was in the mid 250's and so I was level 37 or so and now I'm level 42 or so and I'm just above 400vp I kinda find it easier to clear my map now and hardly get raided but then again I'm starting to get those level 50-52's on my map but those warrior rushes though
Totally agree with ben . Till you have your comfortable troops maxed(Tanks in my case ) don't push . i'm a level 50 so with max tanks i have no problem clearing based of level 58 to 60 .

Another pro of pushing in vp earlier is that you become a better player. I'm level 50 950vp and every base I face is maxed with multiple ice (and 2 protos of course). Had to get better reealllll quick so that I could continue to keep my map clean throughout the dAy :)
I've got 293 vp at level 34, there are pretty much just level 42-47's on my map from which many are very hard to beat. I also recommend not to rise in vp.. trying to lower mine actually
This is how it looks like if you are lvl 51 ( maxed out iconomy buildings ).... I have all 42 resource bases ( and i never lose them ) with 5 green statues ( 3 of them resource production with 1 for wood and iron). All that is giving me 50 000 gold and about 35 000 resource of all kind ( including IRON ) PER HOUR, without attacking and making stupid VP which will make lose all my resource bases and force me to attack or wait days like an idiot, just to make a single upgrade. That place i am now - gives me more than 1 million resouces of each kind PER 24 hours ( sometimes alot more, with the task force reward ) - without adding a single medal. It will be like that untill i have near to max defense and atleast 6 max ice statues. Everything else is just pay-to-win ... or in this case ... pay-to-advance. This is the true about BB, all the players who don`t pay for games know it 100%. Thats why BB is full with farmers ... people just say no to that crazy game paying ... its just pixels lol
I was over 600 vp with 2 toons, now both are under 500. Due to 59 lv upgrades, 0 deployed prototypes until 59 lv, everything else is maxed only little upgrades to do. Max ships and other support buildings, resource buildings, rockets, shocks, booms lv14. No point put base to beach, since less gems to speed up. Anyone will attack base without prototype. Have resources someone will need em, do attacks that way you show up on player maps. Just do less players.
if your offense orientated, you don't have to pay attention to vps. Its better to have tougher bases cause generally you get more resources from them. Ben's sugestion to only clear when you need it is good for maintaining vps.

The main issue with high VP is that when you are low lvl comparing to your VPs people will take all your resource bases easy. I am lvl 33 with 210VP, not facing problems with resource bases neither home defending, but it gets annoying when I have like an epic war with lvl 40 over a resource base. (Thankfully he seems to give up after seeing that I'm better than him attacking considering I'm lower than him)
I have a friend that is lvl 40 and has 165 vp he just goes on the game and collects resources and dives for things upgrades his base then leaves doesn't attack ever
Early game it's probably better to only attack npcs and Dr terror. The total amount of ADDITIONAL vp you can get from npcs are 200, so by the time you exhaust those 200 vp you should be well ahead in the game on offense and with the help of Dr terror. Source: my hq 14 account.
And if this is a common problem I would think SC would want to change the system to match what most of their players want. Speaking through a business man's lenses as well here
10 levels? lol Psh 13 levels with shield generators dont seem to be even hurting my warriors (im lv49). that being said i do have pretty much all maxed out statues. On my second account to keep the victory points low I generally only attack Dr Terror, he spawns 4 times a week now which is generally enough to get an upgrade, if needed 1 or 2 player cities for an armory upgrade once things start getting expensive. NPC or game bases are also pretty good for intel/resources and usually give 1 victory point which you lose again when a base respawns
That is because it reflects your vp. The recourse base you used to see is probably back from whsn you had a lower vp count. So when you look for a new one. It will look at your current vp and you realize you made a mistake :p.
Good video. I'm lvl 55 with 470 vp so I'm constantly facing lvl 50-60 enemies (which I can handle). A guy on my team is lvl 45 with 500 vp and he's constantly getting hammered by lvl 60 guys as well. I'm not even sure why he is pushing for vp. I guess he wants bragging rights? LOL
I am rushing to HQ 10 because so many people rush and it's A BIT hard to get A LOT of loot, so it's making me have to rush. I was HQ 9(Or 8, I don't remember), and I was lvl 24 and there was a person who was lvl 24 and was HQ 11, LIKE WTF MAN.
+maxdrags3 This is no coc lol . No penalty to rush and rushing HQ helps a lot in offence . and in boom beach all offence till you max them is the way to go . you get so much more if you have good offence than you loose when you get raided . That's my experience .

I don't agree at all with limiting attacks to keep vp low. More attacks = more Intel = more regular ops = LOOTZ. we're doing sour grapes every 24 hrs. Nothing special but that amount of guaranteed lootz everyday cancels out the ass whooping a u get from being too high in vp. U can plan big upgrades around ops finish time, easy.
no ben . i am a level 43 and i have 430 medals . and i always beat level 48-49-50 players. people that say they can't get loot or beat bases. are weak boom beach players. any base is beatable . you need to find a way . smoky worriors . tank medics . smoky hz. sometimes fz
+zino R.H.L yeah but until u get the smokes u need to be careful bcz warriors aren't such big help iof u got no smokes + medics are important as u said in the medi - tanks combo so yeah,at a point of the game u need to keep them low but after u get what u need (smokes & medics for me) u can rush

and its easier to keep resource bases in control. So that helps as well
another plus to raising victory points, is the resource bases spawn due to how high your victory points are

Do your VP also play a factor in the level of players who attack you? I.E. Tougher players attacking you, from higher VP.

No, you only compete people with VP close to you, so, sometimes you meet 10 lvls lower than you, with same VP or, 10 lvls higher.

My trick is to only mostly attack/only attack NPC base's.
Player bases gives you 2 VPs, and NPS only give you 1

HQ 15, just got to it and I use all riflemen against HQ 16s and 17s at 300 vp's. 100 riflemen walk through single shot targets lol

This vid is a couple weeks late. Was lvl29 with 145vp. Now Lvl30 with 202vp. Only getting high lvl 30s and lvl40 bases on my map. No chance.

I’m a Level 39 and I’m getting paired with level 50
10 levels? lol Psh 13 levels with shield generators dont seem to be even hurting my warriors (im lv49). that being said i do have pretty much all maxed out statues.
On my second account to keep the victory points low I generally only attack Dr Terror, he spawns 4 times a week now which is generally enough to get an upgrade, if needed 1 or 2 player cities for an armory upgrade once things start getting expensive. NPC or game bases are also pretty good for intel/resources and usually give 1 victory point which you lose again when a base respawns
Hello Ben I got a challenge for you , can you do Smoky Rifleman and win against a player base ?
There's an award for when you get 200 victory points you get 300 gems so I recommend to get that award then you try to lower to vp

y is it that if you search for a different resource base u always 199% of the time get a harder one
That is because it reflects your vp. The recourse base you used to see is probably back from whsn you had a lower vp count. So when you look for a new one. It will look at your current vp and you realize you made a mistake :p.

Good video. I'm lvl 55 with 470 vp so I'm constantly facing lvl 50-60 enemies (which I can handle). A guy on my team is lvl 45 with 500 vp and he's constantly getting hammered by lvl 60 guys as well. I'm not even sure why he is pushing for vp. I guess he wants bragging rights? LOL
I've cleared up my whole map and the max I can get is 587.......... WTF!

I am rushing to HQ 10 because so many people rush and it's A BIT hard to get A LOT of loot, so it's making me have to rush.
I was HQ 9(Or 8, I don't remember), and I was lvl 24 and there was a person who was lvl 24 and was HQ 11, LIKE WTF MAN.
+maxdrags3 This is no coc lol . No penalty to rush and rushing HQ helps a lot in offence . and in boom beach all offence till you max them is the way to go . you get so much more if you have good offence than you loose when you get raided . That's my experience .
+Anirudh Appala that´s a good point, never thought of it this way. i´m always struggeling to get the right balance between offence and defence.
I´m now concentrating on maxing offence and only storage on my base. I´m now at 33 with 250vp. that sucks :D

Im an hq 15 level 41, and I get matched with players hq's 16-19 levels 40-50
My level is 41 and my victory points are 510 but my opponents are above 60 levels.i just can't beat them some of them have maxed out everything
I'm 2 levels higher than bentimm2 account but I'm at 276 VP and I get level 47's and I can still beat some of them with tank medic

I don't agree at all with limiting attacks to keep vp low. More attacks = more Intel = more regular ops = LOOTZ. we're doing sour grapes every 24 hrs. Nothing special but that amount of guaranteed lootz everyday cancels out the ass whooping a u get from being too high in vp. U can plan big upgrades around ops finish time, easy.

people that say they can't get loot or beat bases. are weak boom beach players. any base is beatable .

so yeah,at a point of the game u need to keep them low
