I searched the web and couldn't find any information so I did not use the metallic I wanted to use. Thank you for all your inspiration and education. Micro foot by Handi Quilter gives excellent clear vision. Needles is a size 90/14 to best suit the metallic thread . A good quality thread will say on the spool which needle size is recommended.

Select the needle based on the weight of the thread. You need the eye of the needle to be big enough to cause least friction.

What is stitch length?
In free-motion quilting there is no stitch length. Your hands decide the length of the stitch by the speed you move.
What if I use a gold thread that isn't a metallic, just gold colored?
Beautiful Quilts that’s perfectly ok. Is a good alternative.
