I've been following your channel for a few years now, I got my first WYZE cam from your review you did years ago. I really appreciate all the tests that you do. thank you so much!
I bought 4 V3s in the last month or so, got that super 2 pack Home Depot deal and I am very happy with them, in fact I hooked up the fourth one today on the back and side of my house (Pro tip, get those waterproof orange or green things that seal two connected plugs inside, amazing and some are on clearance right now). I have a Blink right next to the V3 I just installed and a Ring battery on the other side and OMG they are utter trash compared to the Wyze. That side of the house is very dark and the Blinks are generally unusable at night and the Wyze literally looks like daylight, it's almost 11 pm right now and it looks like daylight out there when I click on the cam. Also have those cheap Microcenter SD cards running in them and they are doing great. Also the window mount is fantastic, a must have if you are mounting inside.
My brother-in-law bought four of them I have five of them. And after two and a half to three years out of the nine cameras we have brought to inside outside five of them in total have failed and they won't replace them and we have had many update problems and we have very fast internet. I would steer clear
I don't know if Wyze wants to take the Cam v3 off the market or is sponsoring you to do this comparison, because I have seen your video titled "Wyze Cam V3 Review - Unboxing, Features, Setup, Installation, Testing, Video & Audio Quality", on the which shows an exceptional video quality of the v3, however, in this new video it is shown that the image quality of the Wyze Cam v3 is bad, or at least it is remarkable by comparing this video and the one I mentioned earlier above, which had much better quality and the details were appreciated much better. My v3 cameras look pretty good, so I still recommend it and the person who wants to know what I'm talking about can compare this video with the other one you did reviewing the Wyze Cam v3.
I just bought the 4pack of v3's off woot. I place these inside the windows facing out, so the v3's were a better choice. Also the v3 supports rtsp while the newer cameras do not
Get the window mounts, you can't even tell it's behind a window with them. Make sure you clean your window first before you mount it, that goes without saying.
I agree just keep the old v3 better night vision... the only cool thing is the v3 og 3x which that zoom can zoom in on a face or plate depending on setting...I like the new pTz wyze works well and its cheap !
Thank you and Happy New Year for this informative review of the Wyze Cam OG. I tried to follow the comparison of the OG and the V3 and certainly the pricing makes the investment worthwhile. Sadly, despite having some tech. knowledge, this technology is new to me. I understand the need for power and I understand the SD card.... but a bit of a blur after that. I think the assumption is that "everyone" is using these cameras and the "basic" knowledge is a given. Let's say I have a friend over 65 that is interested in a motion detector camera. He likes the Wyze Cam OG. He has a desktop computer and he has an iPad. He understands the SD card for memory storage. He has a landline but not a cellphone... How would he use the Wyze Cam OG?
Nicely done, the side-by-side really helps. 👍 On the interface, the V3 allows skipping in 30 second intervals whereas the OG or Pan V3 there is no 30 second skip button. Perhaps I need to work on my scrolling technique.
Great testing method, I like your systematic approach, which brings me to a suggestion. We live in a city area, where chances of little vandals snatching away any such outdoor fixture is realistic, so placing a cam behind my window is the better option. The built-in spotlight on the Wyze cam OG however may cause glare from inner reflections of the glass. So, please include this placement option in your tests. The Wyze cam v3 obviously does not have that sort of problem, as it offers an add-on spotlight that can be mounted (in theory) on the exterior side of the window, but I'm afraid the clip-on mount would not allow me to do that. Is there a solution for the spotlight on the v3, or is there a solution to minimise glare on the OG ?
Mine is loose and the window is close to the door which it falls off when someone opens and closes the door. The OG doesn't have the lipped edge on the bottom that holds it to the mount.
I feel like the v3 can replicate colors better. Everything just looks super saturated in the footage from the OG, but that still frame of the license plate while you were running didn't have as much motion blur as the v3 did.
@user-jx5qz7mn3l Nope, it did not! If you need any motion capture, you'll need to pay the monthly fee or install an SD card for local storage/playback. I've been lazy but plan to get the SD card someday... otherwise, all you get is a single screenshot per 5 minute span. It does seem to connect faster (as there's no video clip to load).
I don't have view playback button showing. I had it when i got the camera, but now the button isn't there. What's going on. I have two OGs neither has the view playback.
These cameras are both very capable. 2 questions: Have you experimented with adding external IR Illuminator Lights on a night timer at the 25 foot location where your property has shadows and how would that be helpful for the cameras ? You walk around in your videos, how slow can you creep around at night so they don’t trip the motion sensor ? Great videos on your channel. We always enjoy your content. Maybe you can offer external IR illuminators in your store. Is there a way to add a camera wirelessly to my mailbox ? 3 questions 😅 🙏❤
yes and even better that it has person detection free. U can also set a rule where if you have multiple cameras, U can make all their sirens go off at once, basically creating a alarm system.
seems like app and software updates that can be applied to the v3 as well, but they want to make more money out of it to have people "upgrade". There is no reason why re-orgenizing the app is a 'new hardware feature'
I've had my v3s for 2 years I think and very happy with sound and video quality especially at night I recently pick up an OG, and not impressed with the picture quality and the audio quality sucks. Super frustrated with the OG. I tried to find a comparison before I bought the OG and didn't get a good comparison
I just picked up 2 OG's. Compared to my original 3V's there's no comparison. These OG's are a huge disappointment. With the V3's I don't have to have night vision on. Even with it on the OG's are horribly dark and really grainy.
I have six V2 cameras and would like to ask if you know if the OG will work with the CURRENT Wyze app I have for my V2? I use these is a remote location that only gets WiFi after I send a Text message to a phone I leave at the cabin to "Turn On Hot Spot". I do NOT use any SD card since I have no WiFi all the time and do not leave on the Hot Spot to "communicate" to the Cloud. I purchased my V2's back in October 2020 because of YOU!! So ANY help would be appreciated. The OG is the lowest cost so that is for me.
I have both cameras and I will keep my V3 the audio on the OG is horrible maybe I just got a bad one I don't know. Right now the OG is just a viewing camera
cross post. can I subscription cover both cameras or do you have to buy one for EACH. thank you for your indepth comparison. I have an older Wyze 3. just bought an OG. oe more question: will this work with the ring doorbell show device?
Thanks for the head to head comparison. I've been debating putting up a few more V3s or the new OG before I'm gone for a couple weeks later this year and I think I'll stick with the V3s unless I'm unable to keep the neighbor's house out of view then I may try a 3x. There is one place I may stick an OG now that i think about it since its built in light would be quite useful. One thing I'd like to hear your opinion on is lighting options that can be mounted under the eaves. I've been looking at battery powered, solar, and hardwired options but there are so many that it's hard to choose. I'm half tempted to just get another spotlight cam even though I really don't need another camera covering that area.
Solar motion lights works pretty good. If you can hardwire it, that will be a better option. I'll shy away with battery powered ones (no solar). Thanks for watching.
Hardwire or nothing, battery cams suck, especially when it gets cold. Hardwired always work plus can record 24/7. You don't need a light with the V3s, it looks like daylight outside when I use mine at night.
While battery cameras have their place I agree they suck compared to a hardwired camera. Unfortunately the back part of our property is almost completely dark at night because of a wooded area that's behind it. Even with the V3s excellent low light capability the image at night isn't the best most of the time. The one big exception to this is when there's snow on the ground like now. All my cameras currently have excellent video at night from the light reflecting off the snow. The more I think about it a second floodlight cam with its brightness dialed back mounted on the back corner of our garage would probably work great especially if I could point one light down each side of the garage. Being able to power a second camera off it would be handy too.
@@LtKernelPanic Just get the Wyze floodlight cam and you are all set. That’s what I’m going to do with the old floodlight I have on the side of my house soon.

They each have pros and cons. There are also tradeoffs for each. One is not necessarily better than the other in all aspects. In reality, it would be best to have both to complement each other.
