I'm somewhat confused. Microsoft recommends upgrading to .NET, yet Visual Studio still uses .NET Framework... And why do they use Apple window frames in the presentation?

do you think the recommendation is wrong or that they should upgrade visual studio?

@@Mariojsnunes I fully agree with the recommendation and I love all things .NET. But Microsoft not following their own advice leaves some aftertaste. It could be possible that Visual Studio will be abandoned in the long run in favour of Visual Studio Code and thats why Microsoft doesn't want to invest too much resources into Visual Studio.

Modern .NET LTS versions are only supported for 3 years. Windows/Office code lives for decades which is also true of the .NET 4.8 Framework.

The Visual Studio product is over 40 million lines of code, including support for older technology that has not and will not be updated to the latest .NET. Large chunks of it are still written in unmanaged C++. Rewriting it would be a huge undertaking for not a whole lot of benefit. As long as it uses the right compiler and produces binaries for the target framework you want (and can debug it) what does it matter what a decades old product is written in?

@@ctavare Considering the showcasing of the performance boost when migrating to the latest .NET version I imagine Visual Studio would consum much less resources and run faster. But I do understand that it is a huge undertaking.

WHY has this taken this long to come out?
This should've been given major priority 7-8 years ago, and I'm betting the reason it hadn't was coz you didn't realize just how many .net framework applications are out there and continue to be there and worked on to this day. I'd even bet there's more major applications out there still in framework.

Is it legit to make a youtube poop YTP out of this video? Including things like:
"nodeJS is 88% faster than dotnet 8, and Java is 888% faster than dotnet",
".net framework has improved really much compared to dotnet",
"now it is only .Net Framework that will forward improve". *some mess on the screen, 2 hour long loading*
