Basically stoners or people who are too young to buy rolling papers use these cans to smoke out of when you turn it into a makeshift pipe💀 it's horrible for you since you're basically smoking from a can but most people can just throw it away when they're done with the drink. I personally used to buy two at a time so I can drink the first one, use it to smoke, and then drink the tea in the second after to make sure my mouth wasn't too dry. The argument is that the moons iron core is smaller than what would be expected for a moon at this distance from the sun, and the earths core is a little bigger than what it likely would have been if it didn’t undergo the collision. They say that during the collision, it was mostly the earths mantle that got gouged out and annihilated (not a direct hit) and the core material from theia merged with earths. Then the moon formed from the ring of mostly mantle debris that formed around earth after the collision. That’s one of the more noteworthy lines of evidence supporting this theory. But yeah, it’s nuts to think about. But, things collide all the time in space!

      @@humbleevidenceaccepter7712 Electrons as tiny balls
But perhaps the most dramatic example of all concerns Arnold Sommerfeld’s development of Bohr’s model. Sommerfeld updated the model by making the electron orbits elliptical and adjusting them in accordance with Einstein’s theory of relativity. This all seemed more realistic than Bohr’s simple model.
Today we know that electrons don’t really orbit the nucleus at all. But scientists working in the early 20th century thought of electrons as very tiny balls, and assumed their motion would be comparable with the motion of actual balls.
This turned out to be a mistake: modern quantum mechanics tells us that electrons are highly mysterious and their behaviour doesn’t line up even remotely with everyday human concepts. Electrons in atoms don’t even occupy an exact position at an exact time. Such considerations are what lie behind the famous quip: “If you think you understand quantum mechanics, then you don’t.”
So Sommerfeld’s theory had a radical misconception at its very heart. Yet, in 1916, Sommerfeld used his model as the basis for an equation that correctly describes the detailed pattern of colours of light absorbed and emitted by hydrogen. This equation is exactly the same as the one derived by Paul Dirac in 1928 using the modern theory of relativistic quantum mechanics.
This result has long been considered a shocking coincidence within the physics community, and various ongoing attempts have been made to try to understand how it could happen. Needless to say, Sommerfeld’s incredible predictive success persuaded many scientists of the day that his theory was true.
Despite the fact that later evidence proved these theories wrong, I don’t think we should say the scientists involved made mistakes. They followed the evidence and that is precisely what a good scientist should do. They weren’t to know that the evidence was leading them astray.
Science is a process of constant refinement, with a knack for ironing out unhelpful twists and turns in the long run. And we all know that even the most trustworthy can occasionally let us down.

    • @captaindonkeyballs
      @captaindonkeyballs 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Technically yes, the simulations of the collision largely predict a glancing blow, which means a lot of the material that would have composed the crust of Theia would have been launched past the impact and orbited for a while, this is where the moon would have formed.
The remaining material was immense, planetary scales are not something the human mind is good at really grasping, a lot of it would have impacted at extreme velocity, meaning it would have buried quite deep into the mantle, hence the theory in this short.
However, not all of it would have penetrated deep enough to become locked in place, and could even have melted completely, this would mean it would be part of the mantle’s convection currents, which could transport the material once belonging to Theia to the surface.

Moonwalker and geologist Harrison Schmitt discovered some of them back in 1972, during the Apollo 17 mission, when he looked down and was shocked to discover orange soil at his feet.
A study about 10 years ago looked at the beads and saw hints of water. But the results also fell within the instrument's margin of error. So Hauri and his colleagues decided to look again using newer, more sensitive detection technology.
Some moon experts were skeptical, saying there was no way the team would find any water molecules. "We got a lot of comments like, 'Oh, well, we already know that the moon is dry, we've known this for 20 years,'" Hauri says.
But this time they did find water molecules, according to a report in the journal Nature.
It wasn't a lot of water. The beads had only up to 46 parts per million. But from this, the researchers estimate that the interior of the moon once probably contained an amount of water equal to that of the Caribbean Sea.
This is a problem for the giant impact theory, says Hauri. "It's hard to imagine a scenario in which a giant impact melts, completely, the moon, and at the same time allows it to hold onto its water," he says. "That's a really, really difficult knot to untie."
Others agree that the discovery raises questions. "It's obviously a very new result to say that the moon might have had a significant amount of water right after it formed," says Ben Bussey, with the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab in Laurel, Md.

but isn’t the possible collision with theia also hypothesized as the source of earth’s water because of similar isotopes? seems possible not all of the vaporized water would be lost to space

The 'conventional view' of the moon's origin is that a Mars-sized object smashed into the Earth. A large amount of material thrown up into orbit by this coalesced into our moon.

This is a rough estimate but here are the chances of a collision like Theia impacting with Earth, creating a moon at just the perfect distance from the Sun to support life..
Multiplying these probabilities together gives a rough estimate:
    1 in 100 (collision)
    x 1 in 50 (stable moon formation)
x 1 in 1,000 (moon at the right distance)
    x 1 in 50 (habitability)
This would result in combined odds of approximately:
    1 in 250 million to 1 in 5 billion (1 in 2.5 x 10⁸ to 1 in 5 x 10⁹).
With those odds, I find it highly unlikely that Theia impacting Earth thereby supporting life.

The earth could support life even without a moon or with a moon in a different place y'know.
Hell it could technically support life with 2 of them.

Why do you refer to pre-collision Earth parts as "Earth and Theia". Are we not also Theia too?

No, but I have a question. Why do all the meteors that hit the moon? Do not leave craters, but when they hit our Earth daily huge craters. Why does the moon sound frequency? You can hear it after it's hit by something for a Long Time. It has a sound way to go through why
