I test out a Yamaha RX-V2095 A/V Receiver that I got for cheap at a thrift store. Then, I fix the issue that was probably what GOT it sent to the thrift store.
Thanks for this video. I'm buying one of these Yamahas today from Craigslist and it was great to have such a thorough walk through. Can't believe a little switch was the point of failure for such a high-end receiver.
@@robl7532hi how to get front chennal sound( not And B) I'm connecting A main for left and right, center and Surround.. That's working but Wen connected extra two speaker to left right next to center no sound.. Any idea?
After almost a decade of being broken (and yes using the remote instead) , I came across this video so I may attempt the same repair on mine lol. Thanks
Great job ! I really enjoyed ur detail on the plastic tab repair and your attention to detail is very impressive. You turned junk into fine wine. I think my Yamaha has a relay or capacitor issue. It doesnt stay powered on anymore. How can I fix my problem I dont want to throw it away ! I paid about $500 for mine from the Harvey High Fidelity store, on West 45st in NYC, about 25 years ago and I have always enjoyed its functionality ! Damn time really flies !
Thanks for the encouragement! It's pretty hard to diagnose problems like you've mentioned from afar, so I don't have much in the way of suggestions there. Your relay or capacitor idea sounds like a good place to start.
Scooter likes to play, lol! Cute cat. I have the same unit from my dad. He said it won't power up at all. I don't know anything about testing these so I may have to take it in.
@@SomeDisassemblyRequired Sure, i get it.. I actually own two Yamaha Receivers (RX-V890 and RX-V663) and they are awesome receivers. I haven't however yet measured their weight/dollar value, although i expect mine to be quite high as I bought them brand new at the time. 😊
21:00 what about adding a spring to the mechanism? looks like the purpose of the tab was some sort of tension spring, might be able to supplement it by just adding a real spring.
Thanks for the comment. That's not a bad idea but assuming the glue that I used holds, I think the springiness of the plastic itself will meet the need. (That seems to be the way Yamaha designed it originally.) Also, the travel on the micro-switch is only about 1/8 inch, so I'm not sure how much room there is to put in a spring.
Hello, it’s been more than 2 years last time I turned ON my RX-V2095 surprised that front main right channel isn’t working at all plus the sub seems no signal coming from the receiver, another issue that I noticed, when I touch the main couplers at back side specifically the lower one (R)I hear a high hum from the channel that isn’t even working witch is front main right, appreciate any positive advice!! Note: test tone are working normally for all the channels except the right ch.

Hi hope you are well? I am having abit of a issue with my reciever hoping you can assist. It switches on for 1 second and switches off,I was told I need to do a factory reset but I don't have a remote! Is there any other way to do the reset? Or any way for me to look into the problem of it switching off after 1 second?
I have an Yamaha RXV 1700 and it turns on and shutdown after 2,3 min after that no response . and shows 0 power protect. 5volt is shown in the on/off button . any body know the reason
How to fix the display & memory guard , the display looks like yours , some pixels are dim than the others , i want it to become like new like when i bought it

I saw another TH-cam fixit guy ran the receiver overnight and the display came back to full bright? Don’t know if that always works. Cool video.
well done. love scooter!!
Great receiver, one of the best ever made. I have the RX-V992.

There are more controls on the side of remote control. The display lighting is normal, mine is the same.
Haha, first time i've seen a receiver measured by weight per dollar.
Thanks! It's partly a joke, but there really is some truth to it, since quality audio equipment is always heavier and sturdier than the cheap stuff.

Hello, just saw your message - have you been able to fix this issue? I have same and it switches itself off randomly

Sorry, but I don't have any real expertise on that unit - I just got lucky by mine needing an easy fix.
Monster
I never use this switch to turn on/off my Yamaha RX-V2095. I only use the remote control . You didn't need to fix it .
Thanks for the tip, but I needed to fix it for resale.
