    This was ABSOLUTELY the best explanation of subnetting that I've found. I'm sharing it with my class. This reduced all of the anticipated anxiety from taking the Network+ exam! Just amazing.

    I originally started watching Professor Messer a while back, but switched to another IT teaching site because they had labs as well. Although I will still use their labs I switched back to Professor Messer because the other site didn't explain things well, and took longer to do so. I was struggling with this concept when watching the other videos and he just explained it so well that I understood immediately. Not to mention the other sites videos on Network+ are about 21 hours, and Professor Messer's is only 14 hours so I can get it explained much better with less time spent!

    I have a quick question. When you are determining the broadcast address for example. You change the host portion to decimal form .255, but on the the network address, you keep it in the original notation. What is the reason to change it to decimal sometimes and not other times? Could you use either form or must some be changed to decimal form?

    there is a mistake here - class A from 1-126 not 127

    • @professormesser
      @professormesser  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      A class A address is defined as a first octet starting with binary 0, which means 127 (and the entire loopback range) would technically be a Class A address.

    • @professormesser
      @professormesser  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@amjadjadallah96 the definition of IP classes is based on the binary representation of the first octet. CompTIA doesn’t determine these numbers.
