Focusing on Mo and VDD before Mane proved to be the right thing to do with the way Mane has declined. Personally I think Trent over-values himself as a complete player. Certainly not as valuable as Mo or VDD.

I’m very ambivalent about this Craig….he has expressed desire to leave…the most telling thing I’ve seen him say is that he wants the Ballon D’Or and believes he will get that with Real…if he wants to go then please can we just let him go with a good heart. He is not the man I thought he was as he will know that leaving on a free or going for £20 million makes the club he claims to love less able to move forward and replace him. If this is the way Trent goes, then good riddance. Yes he's good but his position isn't worth what he's asking (allegedly). It was critical to sign him up before the Klopp news. This was a little stupid by the club. Klopp told the club in Nov he was going. Players and public knew much later. This is more than enough time to sign Trent up on a new deal. The minute the Klopp news breaks, Trent was never going to sign. At least not without knowing who the new manager is and also how we do. But that takes almost a year, and Madrid pounced quickly. Naivety by the club on this, especially when Edwards was back by then

This is not like Owen, Macca, or even the likes of Xabi or Mascherano, etc leaving. Nor is it like when Gerrard considered moves. The Liverpool at that time was not in the top 5 clubs and challenging for the biggest trophies. We have other world class and arguably better players in this team, like Mo and Virg and likely Alisson too. The new manager has come in and is doing well. If he still wants to go, I think his heart was never in it to stay anyway. He can paint that picture but no one is gonna believe it.

These players only say they love the club. If you did, you'd sign and can still leave but at least then the club makes some money. But they know they'll have the pick of the clubs on a free, and can get a better wage this way, so they do this. I don't want to hear about any loyalty crap from these players.
