Catapults are one of only two mech chassis that I Mastered and then sold every variant of them (the other being Shadowhawks, never liked how they moved, I see all their strengths but they just don't click with me). This was before the rescale, they just died too easily. Now the rescale already had me looking at the Catapults again in curiosity, but it just didn't feel like the would bring me something new. But this! Now this is a reason to get myself a K2 again, good platform for the new tech, especially in a far smaller Catapult with a Light engine instead of an XL. Thanks for the vid!
This build inspired me to make a AWS-8Q with 2 ER Large Lasers 2 HVY PPC's and tc3 with double heatsinks running on a light engine 300. It's just Awesome made even more Awesome.
Your video demonstrates the usefulness of arm weapons, which I think are being underutilized at the moment. Your first video especially shows the value of arm mounts.
I have no issue with arm mounts, they are exceedingly useful. I just hate mechs that have ALL of their offense in the arms, they are just too easy to turn into sticks. Especially light-end Med mechs. Put some armament in the arms, but not all of it is all I'm saying.
I would like to see that the Range quirk also reduced the min range of LRMs and PPCs. Since it already breaks with the lore, i don´t see an issue, and having a slightly earlier damage on the blasts and missiles would be great, because sooner or later mech fights tend to get into short range.
I put this build on a Thanatos and it rocked. Did 2 heavy ppcs, 2 medium lasers, 4 jump jets, ecm, and 335 xl engine. I didn't put any points into the consumables and instead added a little extra armor. Love it .
Those Trial by Fire events had me reconsider my K2 build, dropped a HPPC and replaced it with a UAC10, for heat's sake and "subtle" double-tapping.....closed a game by finishing off Radick on top of 2 other kills.
I have one Marauder 3R set up with 2 HPPCs in the right arm and 2 ML in the left. LFE, LAMS, Endo Steel and all the DHS she can hold. With max armor, cool run, and heat reduction quirks she brawls like a beast with the 30 points really wrecking face and impacting on top of each other.
Well, now you can go XL engine haha, since losing an ST on a build like this now would just result in overheating on every shot of a single HPPC :P GOTTA GO FAST!

Hi, MoltenMetal, I have a question for you, how do you know what are the mobility perks that as a player you have to activate in the mech? Can you give a few examples according the different weights? Because for example, a have a pair of atlases and battlemasters and I have activated all the mobility perks but I see you don't do that with this catapult. i'll thank any help you can give me.
2xac10 k2 worked better for me than ppc variants, but man, the pult wits sawn off ppcs is fun now, i built one and had awesome games in it. did not try heavy ppcs in in yet
I have the same build lol but, I Would take out those mgs and put in a 300 light... i also have sml pulse instead of medium lasers because its a lot more heat efficient

my K-2 has ER PPC's as im more of a ranged pilot.. the ER's also have no min rng so that face hugging cheetah would have been face hugging PPC blasts too.....
The ER PPC has lower damage at short range than usual and they are quite hard to hit on a light mech running around you, even if they did hit hard... Lazors are way better in a brawl. Trust me, you don't want to go ramming speed with any PPCs.
You know when your artys are ready to go and the voice 'artillery strike online'? That's pretty much what I call the game now. Carrying all these extra suped up artys feels so cheap. For 80k cbills you can get an easy 500 damage and couple extra kills of your lucky. On canyon if your team is coordinated you can funnel the end team into a valley and just drop 6 or 7 strikes
I can understand that, not many mech games for consoles. There were some good gundam games on ps2 that I enjoyed and I had wished they continued with mechassault series
@@alluringming I think you need about 20-30 keys in addition to the mouse in order to control your mech properly and maintain oversight over the battlefield. That's really the main issue here. How did MechAssault solve this?
It’s been my time since i played the game. It was defiantly different than mechwarrior 4 which was the only game I played. I don’t have xbox anymore so I can’t remember the button scheme. There is no customizations sadly nor did you have zoom. You move and look around with joystick, cycling was done through y button if remember correctly. If mech had jump jets you press down on left thumb stick, and shooting was done with r1 or l1 button. I could be wrong as I have touched this game in long time. Not sure but I think if have xbox one you can download it

heavy ppc's don't seem that good to me, the numbers make it look like it would be an awesome weapon but it doesn't play that way. er ppcs seem like they do more damage to me and are way easier to hit with. seems like the same problem as ac20. seems very difficult to hit with and never really seems to do much damage. I'm better off with a pair of ac10's than a pair of ac20's.

They had that in the closed beta for PPCs. They did reduced damage below 90m, but were still effective. I wish they hadn't changed it.

I usually go AMS with this. Mainly because of the number of LRM builds out there.
just built my rifleman-5d with 2 Light PPC's and 2 Heavy PPC's, It's a Little slow but so much fun to Play if you just pair both sides and ist PPC's

This is pretty close to my build except I have 2xERSL in place of the ML and LMG ammo is 1 ton.
But yes the K2 is soo good now with the HPPC's.

one of my favorite mechs. Not a fan of the "arms" on most. I like to just have 2 huge guns bolted to the side.

Dual heavy isnt viable, and normal gauss is kinda eh. I prefer light gauss personally because ammo capacity is good and so is ROF.

I think it would be interesting to copy a "MISERY" loadout on the catapult.
I have a Misery with 2 HPPC's and a HGR on the left side. It does wreak stuff. You just have to stagger the firing.
I was talking about a misery default loadout (without srms off course, because catapult-k2 does not have missile hardpoints)
