this makes me want to draw again! i quit drawing for a good year now (after being consistently drawing for 7 years) and this made me miss it, its amazing to see how accurate you can get a portrait with just a few extra steps
I've only done a few portraits, in acrylic but I've started drawing faces more to improve my painting. I'm going to try this, maybe alongside you at first as it looks like a great way to get the proportions correct. Thank you.
Look up Proko here on youtube and you'll see throughout his channel that he uses and teaches the Andrew Loomis method. Proko used to teach art and also has a website by that name. There are some free courses on there.
A good illustration of a method of getting the head angle correct and how to get a good result. I know I’m nit -picking over small details, but there remains something not quite right about the nose and shape of the lips. This small difference affects the likeness only slightly but as an exercise in getting a close outcome this is a good demo! ❤
Do you ever paint these portraits as well or do you usually prefer just graphite for the medium? Awesome video, I’m a year one art student in college and I love seeing the loomis method from start to finish
Wow. I really loved this. I've just started portraits and I followed you riveted; planning the lines with you. I got a confidence boost just immersed in the video 😂😂. Well done. I've subscribed :)
Hi, I really love your videos and learning along with it but I still get it wrong where to place the smaller circle, how big or small it should be and where it tilts. Is it possible if you can give any tips?
You need to compare it with the length of the front plan to decide its radius. You'll get it wrong at first but compare your proportions with those of your references when you're done. If it helps, draw lines over your references too. When you're making a new drawing, try to be mindful of your past mistakes. You'll end up getting a feel for it.
Please reply i want to ask you that do you use app for applying loomis head to the image or measuring or you are just doing it by yourself just by looking at the reference also make a detailed video on this topic please 🙏
Im pretty sure I've seen this pic on Pinterest so u can find it there if you want this one specifically but Pinterest in general has a lot of different faces you can practice using ! :)
Since the angle of the photo is from the side and she is looking left, the base shape for her nose and lips will be angled with a line going down towards left connecting towards the jaw and face hence the line they drew :52.
This is exactly what I've been looking for, to be able to see how someone puts this into play... I can see all of the landmarks but can never figure out where to put it
Well done. Her lips are too small though, don't be afraid to go over the top in your mind while drawing, cause most beautiful people have over the top features that your mind wants to make proportionate before your hand can draw it true to scale.
I'm not the OP but I've been drawing all my life and I'll say - no. If you're following the proper technique you can draw anyone. Actually, I find that the more unique the face the more fun it is to draw. I also find afro-american faces exceptionally nice to draw, something about the bone structure is so beautiful and translates really well in sketches.
I did the makeup for this model in this photo :) how cool that I randomly came across this video lol! Beautiful drawing!
Really? The makeup is beautiful
Damn
There are no random events in this world.
@@chalimutangama5840 what about atoms random collisions...I'm sorry I read too much chemistry stuff
Wow you are sure famous theirs are lot of artists that drew this pic
This was an amazing process to watch. I have never tried drawing portraits before but I think I will give it a go after watching this. Thank you again
🥰
I've tried, but then everyone hates me after they see them 👀🤣 I'll keep trying though 🤗
@peaches5712 how'd you do with your portrait?
@@flickaJay I drew my sons cat instead for now! lol But I will be trying a portrait in the future. 🙂

First of all, the model is exquisite! What a beautiful woman to draw.
Excellent demo. It's all about how everything relates to everything else, position, angle proportion, etc. Many thanks.
I make at least 5 different artworks every month but I'm looking for big buyers, any idea or suggestions?
Hello good day
I would suggest you you you sell your artworks to known art collectors.
Okay
Do you have someone in mind?
Yes, Mr nickyhall of Hantzgroup.
With his knowledge in the business and on NFTs via Web 3
Thank you! I followed along and this is the best portrait I've made so far😀
Gdzie mogę zobaczyć?
Yea, id like to see the practice portrait too. Can you share?
You inspired me to do my own Loomis practice! I need more practice with portraits and this really helped me. Thank you so much for sharing!

i just watched you do this and i still don't know how you did it, i've always wanted to be able to accurately sketch like this but never been able to
at :52 I don't understand this angled line. What does it represent structurally? Can someone tell me. Thanks.

hi, great video but would you please consider turning on cc? It would help people like me.

Beautiful
Are only the beautiful people this easy and correctly to draw? I mean..inside the proportions as you show? Maybe a silly question..but...nevertheless
