      I enjoyed the video, you're getting closer to the truth.
      You have to go back way before Bruce. In China, including Hong Kong it's all about the Ching versus the Ming. This doesn't come out in the western quest for Kung Fu and the questions they ask the Sifus because they have no idea what to ask and the Sifus have no reason to tell the whole story.
      Start with the Tai Phoung rebellion, 40 million people died. Learn about the Hakka participation because they became the southern Kung Fu in the Boxer rebellion.
      In the Boxer rebellion Christians were targeted along with the Hakka people because of the quasi Christian cause of the emperor who started the Tai Phoung rebellion and this led to the expulsion of foreigners especially missionaries. Islam was also moving down from the north in schools such as Hsing I. This led to the "revolution" because of the religious influence in how the "government", Ching or Ming, should operate and whether Buddhist or Taoist ideologies were sufficient to compete with the West as a nation.
      The Kung Fu schools were secret societies networked according to their alliance with the developing GMT (Guo Min Tang) or the communist movement. Kinda like the Masons against the Catholics. Everyone is involved.
      "Criminal", triad, activity was to provide funding and logistic support for one side or the other. These battles were not about martial arts or simple street gang beefs, they were about civil war.
      Ip Man developed his Wing Chun for use by the secret police while infiltrating cells to capture opposition members for interrogation, that is why he works with the police in Hong Kong and the restaurant union which is "secret" network operating in the open, the reason for the initiations and secret teachings. These operating strategy and tactics meetings, not just advanced techniques.
      William Cheung was sent to Ip Man by his father who was in the police force and therefore probably did learn the more advanced skills. Bruce was groomed to be a Kung Fu actor and then movie star to compete with the opposition films because those monies were, like and with the Triads, were providing logistics support. The operas and films contained not just the history of the conflicts but embedded information about future plans, propaganda. Bruce connected with major US players and had immediate access to the Triads and could oppose the Triads film industry in Hong Kong, like the Shaw Brothers. It's not enough just to say "the Triads" you had to know which side a Triad was on, Ching or Ming. Why do you think the TV show Kung Fu came about? It was propaganda for the fusion of the American West with the mythology of the "Shaolin" South which was the home of the GMT.

    Great upload. Bruce was forced to leave Hong Kong or he would've been arrested and sent to jail for fighting. Hence, he didn't get to master Wing Chun. In the U.S., he reluctantly started teaching Jesse Glover, his first black student, as he didn't appreciate the way his own peers treated him back home due to his mixed race. But in the end, he triumphed over his many challenges.

    Despite all of Bruce’s supposed training in wing chun, he was already moving away from it by 1968, late stage JKD bares little resemblance to wing chun. The structure, footwork and body mechanics are completely different, namely due to the boxing/fencing

    • @GoldenbellTraining
      @GoldenbellTraining  วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I've discussed some of this in other videos, but what does 1968 have to do with THIS topic? We're only talking about what happened in Hong Kong.
      Besides, Wing Chun is still the foundation for JFJKD. It doesn't matter what appears to be different when Bruce still had the attributes from training Wing Chun for 12 years.
      That doesn't just vanish.

    • @axelstone3131
      @axelstone3131 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ yeh that’s true. This video is about his early years, and yes, of course, his attributes he picked up weren’t lost when he changed things, but jfjkf kept changing until the 70’s and people teach it as it was in the 60’s with a heavy emphasis on trapping which Bruce removed altogether from the curriculum in 71.
      As Ted Wong said, imagine Jkd as an apple, where wing chun in the beginning was the core of JKD, and the flesh being Jkd. You don’t eat the core of the apple, you eat the flesh and throw the core away. Jkd by 73 was pretty much fencing and boxing with little to no wing chun.
      But yeh I’m not trying to argue with you or anything like that. I’ve just noticed that many other people, are stuck on this period of Bruce’s martial arts development, not understanding that he moved beyond it.
      As Jesse Glover said, Bruce went beyond style. Even when he sparred Wong Sheung Leung in April 1973 in his Kowloon Tong home, Wong said Bruce used “his method” there was no mention of anything wing chun.

    • @guerrerodelainfo4220
      @guerrerodelainfo4220 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@axelstone3131his method was to be formless, shapeless like water. jkd was always evolving. an acquired skill simply doesn't get forgotten

    • @axelstone3131
      @axelstone3131 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ and what does that look like when it comes down to practical application? You don’t even underhand what he’s talking about. He’s talking about adaptability, but adaptability starts by having a structure, good body mechanic and footwork. You don’t know what he’s even talking about. Having no form doesn’t mean being “formless” it means being able to adapt to any style by going beyond style. Look into the progressive weapons chart.
      Quoting him won’t get you Bruce Lee like skills either. You have to actually train.
      "People don't get the kind of speed and power that is required in effective Gung Fu from just doing techniques. Bruce's power was the result of his body development which he pushed to such a high level that he was approaching maximum human tolerances. His ligament and tendon strength was stronger than that of normal athletes, because of the hundreds of thousands of movements that he had done against different kinds of pressure, weights, springs, bodies and gravity. His muscle tone was such that when he flexed his arm the muscles were as hard as stones. This maximum development in muscle tone enable Bruce to push for their maximum level of development. Everyone doesn't have to develop the same strength that Bruce did, but they do have to strengthen certain areas of their body until these areas are stronger than comparable areas on stronger people. Most of these areas are generally under developed on even the most highly trained athletes".
      - Jesse Glover.
      “As in boxing or fencing, JKD is a step by step project where every move must be repeated many times". Bruce Lee
      “It is not daily increase but daily decrease, hack away the unessential. The closer to the source, the less wastage there is.”
      - Bruce Lee
      "The majority of people who practice
      Jeet Kune Do are mixed up, they think it should be a part of Wing Chun, a part of MMA, a part of Thai boxing, a part of wrestling, you know, a part of Wing Chun, which this is completely incorrect. You don't go from style to style, you go from distance to target or target to distance. Longest weapon to the nearest target and the most direct and efficient route possible, that is Jeet Kune Do."
      - Tommy Carruthers
      In this case, Bruce’s “evolution” was towards simplicity, not complexity, so no he wasn’t adding new things over time or mixing things. He was discarding and finding more effective and direct methods.

    Some people tend to hate on Bruce Lee because they couldn't do unbelievable things Bruce Lee did. When its something beyond their understanding and their skill set then they must question it with doubt, or just imaging and making excuses to say Bruce Lee is a fictional artist portrayed by Hoollywood as a Legend.

Those who say he never got in the ring or recorded fights, etc. He appears to have more real fights than most people today. Constantly in trouble and being chased by the Triads, serious stuff. Furthermore... This constant talk about Tradition, and going away from tradition... is also incorrect. The more Lee learned and experienced... the more he was brought back to learn the Traditional Ways. For example... While its said that after Lee changed his attitudes about things, after fighting Wong Jack Man... and making stupid claims like "Wing Chuns punches dont have enough power"... Lee would eventually go back to trying to learn MORE Wing Chun. After getting paid from his film work... he traveled back to Hong Kong, with bags of cash... trying to bride Yipman into "Speed Teaching" him the entire Artform.
    Lee also met many other Traditional Chinese Artists, that changed his mind about various Traditional methods.
    And heck... MOST of what he was doing, and Teaching to his own students... was based on the Foundations of his former Wing Chun lessons.
    All this speak of "This art didnt work", even for Lee... was extremely Ignorant. The reason why Lee couldnt get certain things to Work... is because Lee never fully learned ANY full artform. Nor did he ever fully MASTER any of what he had learned from any of these artforms. Lee didnt reach Masterclass levels in his techniques, until after his Wong Jack Man fight... when he started to train much more seriously... and took his results much more seriously.
    As for saying that Tai Chi is too slow... and static in "Poses" is also extremely Ignorant. The training that most people see from Tai Chi, is the slow motion form work. But thats not the speed that Tai Chi uses, for actual Combat. Slow Motion training, is specifically designed to produce superior strength, and superior accuracy in your techniques. Doubt this? Try doing a standard set of fast pushups... then doing a set of Slow-Motion pushups. At least 7 seconds down, and 7 seconds up... for each one. Compare the reps... and the Strain between these two methods... and you will EASILY understand that the slow motion sets, are MUCH harder, and far more stressful (and will yield MUCH greater GAINS).
    Tai Chi is a complete combat art, having all ranges of combat, Grappling, Throws, Takedowns, Many Weapons, and Lethal Short Range strikes. The thing is... Most modern western schools, only teach the Forms... and not the Applications, nor the Combat Drills. And even those that do learn and practice the combat side of the art... often are not serious fighters... so they rarely spar, and thus, never fully master the arts true Potentials.
    My last former Wing Chun teacher... didnt think very highly of Tai Chi either. He spoke with the same Exact Ignorance... yet had no depth of experience with Tai Chi. However, after showing him some actual benefits... and hitting him with some Short Range internal powered strikes... his ideas about it, were certainly Changed.

    So much utter Bullcrap in this video... its not even Funny. And more importantly, not even the REAL mention of why Lee was kicked out of Yipmans school !!! William Cheung tells that story, on his own Website. Lee stood outside of Yipmans building... and told every student, that Yipman was Sick, and so school was Closed for that day. Lee LIED about Yipman being ill... so that he could get a chance for a Private lesson with Yipman.
    When the other students discovered that Lee Lied... the all demanded that either Lee was kicked out... or that they would all Leave.
    Furthermore... Im pretty sure that it was the other way around with Lee Bullying the other students. Lee was known for Instigating fights, and being a Bully. But since there is not a lot of actual evidence to speak with 100% confidence on the matter... I wont say that exclusively.
    That said.. I have heard that one of the students, I believe was Hawkings Cheng? Said that Lee was very aggressive, and used his speed and power to defeat him. However, when Cheung developed his stance and methods properly... Lee was no longer able to defeat him, anymore.
    As for Lee wanting to APPEAR to be a Hero... that was merely because Lee had Narcissistic Personality Disorder. A Narcissist always wants to be seen as the best. Always wants to have a very respected public image, and great love from the masses. But like all Narcissists... Lee was not always the "Nice Guy" that he tried to pretend to be. Lee would often do things extremely Contrary, to what any "Hero" would do. Such as dressing up in older style clothing... to try to instigate street fights... then Beat the dudes that mocked his elder clothing.. very badly. So, while it may have appeared to others, that Lee was merely beating up Bullies... He was also intentionally Causing these fights... which isnt something a true Hero would ever do.
    Was there Rivalry at Yipman's school? There is rivalry at every school, that Ive ever set foot in. There are always senior student dynamics / politics, as well as Jealousy of each others Skills / advancement speeds. Ive dealt with a few class "bullies" in a few of these schools. The use of their Greater Mass and Strength, along with them not following the proper Drill Mechanics... ended in me getting a pretty severe injury, that took quite some time to heal. After I recovered... the Bully tried the same tactic, going outside the drill mechanics... and using much greater strength... so I went outside of the drill too, and yanked his arm in the direction of his own incorrectly vectored energy... and sent him crashing to the floor, with great speed and power. He looked stunned, and shocked. I told him, that I would no longer deal with him doing the drills incorrectly... and that I would no longer allow him to injure me as a result of it. That if he continued to do things incorrectly, that I would respond in kind, and that I wouldnt be responsible for the injuries that he would sustain.
    He was embarrassed, and shook... and started being much lighter in his interactions with me. YET.. he was still a clueless fool, doing many things Incorrectly. At another time, he grasped my wrist, and was going way past a safe angle... about to break it... so I spun around, and sent a spinning kick right towards his head, and over our arms, to prevent my wrist from breaking. He barely got his head out of the way, and quickly let go of his grip... and then tried to complain about my response. It seems he was so clueless, as not to recognize that he was on the verge of breaking my wrist. Or at least.. that was how he wanted me / others to see things.
    Whether or not he was truly being Malicious to such a level.. is not easily known for certain. However, the Jealous definitely was seen by both him, and from my other classmates. Despite them being at least 1 year ahead of my start date... I was quickly surpassing their skills.. Skills that they still had not even came close to mastering. Thats because I was training 10x harder, and 10x longer. Both INSIDE and OUTSIDE of classes. I also had several years of former training in another school.. and many years of sparring and other experience, that none of these guys had. Despite that being told to them... they still treated me like a complete noob, that didnt know anything. They took great offense to anything I said, that went against their beliefs. And at least one of them (another Narcissist) tried very hard to get me to fight him for real. Eventually, the teachers open respect for me, started to make them respect me more... to the point where they stopped harassing me. Im guessing he said something to them, at some point in time... when I was not at class.
    In my case... I rarely tried to bully any student... Which I do not believe was the case, with Lee. Lee was known for having a temper control problem... especially if anyone bruised his Inflated Ego. So these stories, are often extremely Exaggerated... making the classmates out to be much worse than they actually were.. AND.. not fully revealing LEEs bad interactions, either. Trying to paint Lee, as the "Poor" student, that never did anything wrong... which is not the case at all.

      @@Guile1117 None of my stories are Exaggerated... and unlike Lee, Im still alive. And If anyone really wanted to know the truth... they could find the teacher, and students, and get the story, with every single detail intact... just as Ive described.
      With Lee... hes long since passed, and most of the stories told.. are 2nd and 3rd hand, with major distortions.. as well as various Motivations for lies and exaggerations. Such as the Bruce Lee foundation, wanting to protect Lee's Image... Rather than presenting the unflattering Truth.
      Realize, Im actually a Fan of Lee, for his hardwork, and what he accomplished. However... Im not a mindless fanboy. Im a seeker of highest Truths. This lead me to questioning much about Lee, despite me also not wanting to hear the Negatives.

      @johndough8115 they sound very exaggerated. Also, you get on to Bruce for be a narcissist, yet you're also one, by how you talk 🤔

      @@Guile1117 You can believe whatever you choose to believe. Does not change the actual truth.
      But as Ive said, there is a lot of Evidence, that is Contrary, to what is in this video... and what the general masses "Believe".
      As far as Narcissistic Personality Disorder goes... it takes more than speaking about yourself, to have NPD.
      In Lee's case... he was calling himself the Greatest Fighter in the World.. for example (and that wasnt even true, in his era).
      NPD has many other traits.. such as being easily angered (Ego Bruised), not being able to control ones anger... and causing severe injuries as a result. Addiction to many things... from Adrenalin, to Drugs.. etc. Hypocrisy (often due to a lack of self awareness). And much more.
      In fact, many of the big names in the Martial Arts circles, are Narcissists. Steven Seagal, Gene Labell, and Frank Dux, are prime examples of Artists with NPD.
      That said... just because you have NPD... does not mean that you dont have high levels of skills.
      Seagal, despite being well hated as a person... is actually a very skilled, high level fighter. Most people at his level, would never feel the need to exaggerate, and or lie about things. But someone with NPD, has so little real self worth... that they constantly NEED to try to prove to others, that they are the Best of the Best, in every aspect / way. There is never enough Praise, Attention, and Validation.. to fill their Black Hole of a Soul.

      🤣 you idiots make me laugh. Bruce made movies as an adult from 1971 to 1973 for a year and a half. So that year and a half is responsible for why he has the reputations he has as a martial artist and not all the years prior in America? You fools know nothing about him.
