Trauma is actually a very meaningful song. It talks about the HHU members traumas (hence the title). Gyu's trauma is singing. Back in trainee days, he gets scolded and yelled a lot by their singing trainer causing him to grow fear in singing and he is always told he's bad at it. Vernon's trauma is being casted away as he was 'different' he had experienced being discriminated due to his features that caused him to shut himself in in some ways. Seungcheol's trauma is performing. In one of his lines say that he's standing on a large stage yet he feels like the box is getting smaller, caging him in, suffocating him. He took a break in 2019 due to his anxiety and mental health issues. Wonwoo on the other hand, I'm not sure if it's really his trauma but it's more like his fear. He has this attitude of being extremely silent or shut in. He barely speaks and he's a little too introverted for his own good. Luckily all of these boys, manage to somehow overcome their shackles and break free, making them the great men they are today.
OMG thank you for writing this. i was wondering... WOW. I think one of the most powerful messages that Kpop consistently sends and that REALLY resonates for western kids is that of resilience and grit. it's so empowering to hear that "yeah, i've been through crap, i've got my demons but i've found the inner strength to get through it."
@@daebakday6981 exactly. The fact also that they made Mingyu sing here to show that he overcame his fear in singing. His members stayed with him and encouraged him that he can do it. That's why we can notice that he literally does the singing part because that's what he deserves. Trauma is such a meaningful bop song and I do hope more people hear and understand them.
yeeesss but also fun fact, one of the reasons why mingyu sang in trauma is because he wasn't able to complete/finish making his rap in time, lmao. i forgot where i read this info. HAHAHHA
Trauma is in fact on an album (the 2nd album, Teen, Age). They usually have unit songs on each album. The Teen, Age album included different units as well. Change Up - SVT Leaders Trauma - Hip Hop Pinwheel - Vocal Lilili Yabbay - Performance Bring It - Hoshi & Woozi Rocket - Vernon & Josh Flower - S.Coups, Jeonghan, Wonwoo, The8, Seungkwan, Dino Hello - Jun, Mingyu, DK
@@mochi2937 oh of course not lol love china line and that vid is GORGEOUS. I was only mentioning what was on the Teen, Age album. That one’s a different mini album 😂
Seventeen include unit songs on every album since debut. These are the core of Seventeen's discography. (Henggarae mini album is the only one that doesn't have unit songs) It's part of their unit concept, to showcase each unit with different music style. They have amazing b-sides and unit songs. So they get to sing a lot every time and of course all of the members are involved in the composition, writing, choreography and producing.
Thank you for your reactions! The correct term is Hip-hop Unit/Team. Because if we talk about "rap line" then Dino, Hoshi and The8 are included as well. Remember that Hip-hop unit members also have vocal positions, that's why sometimes it's hard to recognize them in other songs bc they also sing a lot. Again, thank you and hope you can react to more unit songs. (They have A LOT) 💎
Well, svt rapline has some hard core raps too, but they only perform it on concerts and stuffs, might as well watch those too. Those were Mixtapes and b-side tracks. Alsooo please react also to their special sub unit booseoksoon hahahaha the funniest 3 of seventeen, they have a song called Just do it and if you are going to watch a dance performance of it, they have all 13 mbers performing it. I like this channel so much, tho i only watch seventeen contents hahahha you are indeed one of carats' favorite reactor. Thank you so much for your love and I hope for mooore soon. Take care always. Fightiiiing
This is literally they're time to shine, through their units. That's actually why i think Seventeen's sub unit's are one of the best sub units in K-Pop because they're not just a unit based on the most popular members, underrated ones, or unexpected lineups, but their units are made for us to focus on the members main talents that we barely see from them as Seventeen. Same with solo projects. Their sub units sounds just normal or basic one, like Hip Hop Unit, Vocal Unit, Performance Unit, but it's actually genius because just from the unit name we already have a clue on what to expect from the group. Hip Hop will give us bars, Vocal will give us soulful notes, and Performance will give us outstanding choreographies. I love it.
In every album released by SEVENTEEN, they always have songs per unit. So there are a LOT more songs by Hiphop unit. Others have different feels, like Chili and What's Good. Not all of them have MV, only the unit songs in their album TEEN-AGE. But there are fancams or live stages somewhere because they perform all their songs (except for 2 so far) in their concerts and stages. Carats, feel free to correct me (kindly😉please). I'm sure I missed a lot of details.

Why am I crying when you're explaining Trauma? 😭Always loving your reactions! Aside from Jeff Avenue and PD of Form of Therapy, you got the 3rd spot in my heart. Love yoooouuuu! 😘🥰
Great reaction as always! As others have said, unit songs are almost always included on albums, the only recent one I can remember that didn't have any was Heng:garae. You once asked how they could survive doing a full concert what with their choreographies being what they are; unit songs are a big help in that regard. While one unit is on stage performing the others can get a breather. As you can see with Teen,Age they also like to break from doing strictly unit songs and just go with whatever combination strikes their fancy. For Semicolon they even went and divided songs by birth years! Trauma always leaves me feeling a little pensive, for one because I have to repress the urge to side-eye Vernon's parents for letting their kid drop out of middle school, but especially because of S.Coups. As you might know, he went on hiatus for several months in late 2019/early 2020 for mental health reasons. His anxiety got really bad, to the point where he was having trouble being on stage at all (he talks about it in their Ode to You tour documentary Hit the Road). Looking back at his section in Trauma, it looks like the signs were already there but as it unfortunately so often goes with mental health issues, first symptoms are seldom adressed (by ourselves and others) until they become more serious. As far as I understand, what people don't like about Check-In is the synth beat? And I've seen people make fun of auto-tuned Mingyu going "oOOoh YeAH". I'm generally not much of a Hip Hop person at all, way prefer Pop and Rock (def a reason why I favored J-Pop over K-Pop for the longest time and why SVT and DC are two of my fav groups now), so I don't really mind one way or another. I agree that the cinematography is stunning though. Imho the most acquired taste of the whole thing is Mingyu's carrot head :P
They have such great stuff outside their title tracks. Everyone answered your questions I think, so I will just join the bandwagon of people encouraging you to check out Hoshi's "Spider" sometime soon. He killed it, we're so proud. He is such an under-rated performer. Plus maybe it will help you learn his face. Also, love the new intro! Hope you had/have a great weekend away!
CHECK IN was indeed a mixtape rrleased on SVT's Soundcloud and we fortunately have an MV as well. As for TRAUMA, it's included in their 2nd full album TEEN,AGE. Someone in the comments already listed all the units who have tracks on the said album. Yes, SVT's title tracks aren't rap heavy. Their overall image as a group is more on the performance kings and 'brighteen'. But each of their albums always showcase every member's skills and prowess on their other tracks, unit songs or bside tracks (like Getting Closer). You'd really enjoy listening to their albums, for sure.
I just cried in the explanation of trauma, although I already knew, thank you very much for all the details regarding the scenarios in which each member appeared.
HIP HOP UNIT! 🔥 I don't really like raps but HHU songs are so good. I personally like Trauma because it has their own stories and I relate to some of Wonwoo and S.Coups' lines. i really love listening to your insights every after your reactions it makes me look at mvs/songs in a diff perspective. wishing you the best for you and your channel!
I don’t think they were in Sydney, they just showed the Opera House. That crowded housing is in Hong Kong. I’ve seen that building in at least three or four MVs. I guess it’s a popular spot. And for Melbourne, just don’t pronounce the R, more like Melburn without the R.
Hm? Did you change back the intro? Can’t wait for the performance and vocal team!!! Yes you got scoups!! They use a bit of auto tune in home and hit. If I remember correctly trauma was about their past experiences with their childhood and the time when they were trainees. Both change up and trauma are in the teenage album.
