    A positive tune we need in today's world and is relevant is Merle Haggard - Rainbow Stew. Yes, it is a little bubblegum but I loved it when I was young when it was popular and still love it today.

      @BourbonCountryReacts  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, and like I said in the reaction, I need more positivity in my rotation. It's not the 80s anymore where rock was all about hot girls and parties. Meaning, writing songs about fun. Rock's gone very negative for at least two decades. - Keith

      @BourbonCountryReacts I completely understand what you mean. I love 80's rock and some early 90s, but every year, it gets worse and worse, so now country is all I listen to. can't really stand much of anything else these days.

      @@Melody-bourbonite4life Yeah, although modern country has sucked for a long time too. It's gotten a little better over the last few years, but the 2010s were my least favorite decade when it comes to country. Most of it was pop and bro country crap.

    Clay Walker’s “Chain of Love” is a huge part of my childhood and I still get a peaceful feeling every single time I hear it.
    “Joe” of the song was the kind of man my maternal grandfather was, and the kind of woman my great-grandmother was. Anything, anywhere, anytime, for anyone. They taught my mother to be the same way. And she taught me.
    When this song came on the radio we’d sing it together. And now that I’m older and two of those three amazing people are gone, Mom and I still sing the song together. We just immediately follow it with stories of watching our “Joes” continue the chain. And every now and then we get to share how we’ve done the same that day.

    Clay Walker has quite a few really great songs. He was pretty popular in the 90's when there was an influx of some amazing country artist. Someone else mentioned, he was diagnosed with MS and he has devoted to raising money for research and to help others.
    As for whatever you almost said about Courtney Love...I sort of want to know where that was headed. LOL.
    A song that is somewhat similar to this is "The Road You Leave Behind" by David Lee Murphy and it's another where you need the official music video to get the full story. I believe you reacted to one video by David Lee Murphy which was "Dust On The Bottle".
    It is nice to hear a positive message song now and then. You mentioned Nirvana. The group I can't listen to is Evanescence. Beautiful voices but Lord above, nearly every song they sing can throw you off a cliff into depression. Not saying that some of the songs aren't wonderfully written but...damn. If you want mood music for sitting in a dark room and crying, they are it.

    • @BourbonCountryReacts
      @BourbonCountryReacts  ปีที่แล้ว

      So, if you're unaware, let me turn you on to a group from that era that has better vocals and well, just a way better vibe than Evanescence. Lacuna Coil. They're an Italian band that did pretty well for a while in the US. They use this wild combination of (male) Andrea Ferro's tortured voice, and Christina Scabbia's absolutely beautiful voice, to create a really unique sound. - Keith

    My parents didn't listen to ANY county when I was growing up, it was mostly classical and Conservative Christian. But I remember them telling me this story. I think it was a reader's digest story, but I don't remember for sure. They'd never heard this song so when I was in College and got into county and heard this song I saw the ending coming. It is such an encouraging message. But I will say, the trend of paying it forward at coffee shops drives me up a wall! It is important to remember the idea that the chain of love won't stop with the waitress. Yes she and Joe got a little money, but the idea that she will do something nice for someone else is implied. The person she will likely help may/may not continue the chain, but the idea is that you pass it on. I always thought the idea that the waitress doing something nice for someone else, makes the story less cheesy and more a moral for life. Karma comes around, but maybe not always in the ways we expect (sometimes sooner, sometimes later). This is a song (so for story-telling purposes sooner) but the idea still holds that eventually the pregnant waitress will pass on an act of kindness to someone in need thus continuing the chain.
    I'm 27, I remember listening to this song riding around in my dad's truck, probably 5 knowing every world, singing my little country-loving heart out. My dad would sing "hello my names Joe" in a fake DEEP voice, that would have me laughing too hard to sing the next few lines, but I would get back to singing as soon as I could.

    I love how it sort of came full circle, but you don't really know for sure if it did. Joe is a really common name. So, it leaves that a little ambiguous and doesn't actually spell it out. It could be him or it could be someone else, but makes you think about how it can come full circle.
    When I saw Keith's reaction to the last line, I assumed it was too cheesy for him.
