  • Snow drive in the NC mountains, 2018 Honda Civic Turbo Sport Hatchback.
First substantial snow of 2021 in Boone and the NC High Country. Had just installed new tires, the General G-MAX AS-05 - SIZE: 235/40ZR18 Ultra High Performance All-Season.The car and tires did great, up Winklers Creek and Russ Cornett Rds., down Poplar Grove Rd. Enjoy the ride, please like, share and subscribe.

I always enjoy a snow drive...especially while it is still snowing. Keep up the great work.

Nice! Miss those kind of drives. Growing up in the Shenandoah Valley and going to school in Blacksburg, had many winter days like that. As I'm sure you did, learned to drive in the snow in heavy RWD American iron. Tires were everything; with dedicated snow tires, usually no place we couldn't go! 😁

Thank you for making this video. As someone who has not done a lot of mountain driving, and even less when you add snow, I'm looking for all the tips, tricks, and how-to details I can get. I found this video because I'm going to be vacationing in Boone, NC, going around the area for skiing and snow tubing, and don't wont to be another tourist in a ditch. If you do any more of this type of content I would like to hear (almost a play-by-play) what you are doing in the different snow conditions (light on road vs. heavy / icy), throttle and speed in turns vs. straight, and a lot of details for how, when, and how-much breaking you are doing. For example I'm never sure if I should break a lot and often on downhills, or should I drop it to a lower gear and let transmission help keep it steady. I learned here that I need to ease up on throttle if sliding and let rear tires get behind the car before easing in to gas again. I look forward to more NC mountain content for all times of year.

Good in the snow but don’t hit a speed bump especially in a coupe…The transmission cracked 😭

Good tires are important. An all weather, at the very least, the more aggressive the tread, even better. Smooth driving input is even more important, throttle, brakes and steering.

Up to a point, it has a low clearance but if light fluffy snow will bust through it.
