    If Republicans want spending cuts, that's fine. Let's start with cutting the tax breaks and other programs they supported. Fiscal responsibility starts at home. Spending cuts are not the issue...it's what the money is spent on.

      It is unrealistic to discuss a budget without considering revenue. Reverse the tax bill for the wealthy arranged by the pumpkin headed grifter that ballooned the deficit almost as soon as it was signed. More tax revenue equals paying down the deficit faster, problem solved. And people who are hungry can still use SNAP. You know, food for the hungry in an obscenely wealthy nation like ours??

      The public and voters are ignorant to suggest a default IF there aren't spending cuts (and all the ramifications that would come with a default). Furthermore, those same people typically don't want any of the programs such as education, health care, etc.. that Republicans want to cut, cut! And don't get me started on the press.. They have handled this manufactured crisis like amateur journalists. Ugh.

    Reducing the deficit is important, but spending cuts only addresses one side of the equation. Increasing revenue is the other part of the equation. This includes closing corporate tax loopholes and increasing tax rates on the top 1%. Any responsible solution must address both sides of the equation.

    I turned 65 last October, one of the EXTREMELY rare times in my life that I totally agreed with Mitch McConnell.
    He actually said that there were going to be MAJOR problems with the House of Representatives for the next 2 years, it's NOT because Republicans took it back, it's because of WHO they elected to do it.
    Like I said, he was right.

    • @MrSean03839
      @MrSean03839 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ummm, Mitch has a major contribution in destroying the country. Mitch has singlehandedly corrupted the SCOTUS and most of the federal courts. Mitch also played a major roll in adding 8 trillion to the debt(1/3rd of the total US debt ever) during Trump's reign of terror in just 4 years. Mitch also assisted many of the house members with their elections.

    At the risk of sounding nasty, the difference, intellectually, articulately and in personal presence between Hakim Jefferies and Kevin McCarthy is mind boggling to me.
    It’s sad but more than that scary that the GOP is loaded with such a bunch of incompetents.
    That’s the real challenge for democracy. Most “jobs” require the aspirants to meet some basic competence standard, except for politicians.
    Think also George Santos (or whatever his name is this week)
    Marjorie traitor G., Lauren Boebert, Paul Gosar, et etc etc
    Just saying 🙁

    • @girlfromthebronxbywayofelb7288

      Time to identify viable candidates to oppose each of these dangerously incompetent representatives. I think Santos will fall of his own weight, but it is important not to always assume that NYS is deep blue. I believe we lost 4 seats in NYS when we weren't paying attention. Boebert came within a hair of losing in 2022, and I heard that her opponent is going to try again in 2024. Let's give him more support to get him across the finish line. Let's begin searching MTGs district to find the blue dot in that red town who can defeat her. Do we really feel that she is unbeatable? Really? Let's do the work and get these fools gone. 💙🌊💙🦋🗽

      He's saying that these bizarre political threats around the debt ceiling have been normalized and the toxic strategy has been used too many times with disastrous results. We are losing credit ratings that cost us money to lose, maybe we might regain stature in 10 years, just because the GOP needed more CSPAN exposure. It is dangerous, but because we have been boiled, we are almost expecting it now and not as outraged. For my part, I remain outraged at this irresponsible behavior. Vote them out. 💙🌊💙🗽

    SLASHING MILLIONAIRES BILLIONAIRES AND CORPORATIONS Taxes is the equivalent of making smaller payments on a Credit Card, it's impossible to pay it off by spending less money. The one and only way to pay it off, is by making monthly payments BIGGER than than the ammount the intrest is raising it

    • @girlfromthebronxbywayofelb7288
      @girlfromthebronxbywayofelb7288 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Btw, PBS news hour on may 23rd shared statistics showing that the change in managing the interest payments on the deficit came in approx 2000. That makes sense, because that's when Clinton left office leaving a budget surplus, yet Bush gave that budget surplus away in a tax cut for the wealthy. Then the costs of Iraq and Afghanistan began, the housing crisis and great recession of 2008, and we're off to the races. Fix the tax code already. We have not been paying attention for 20 years. Stop blaming this on hungry desperate people who need food stamps.

    "He (Jefferson) became suspicious of all around him for he regarded the indifference of the people to the struggles of the French (Upon his return to America, after being an Ambassador to France during their Revolution), their old allies, as an evil omen. He (Jefferson) had scarcely taken his seat in the Cabinet before he declared that some of his colleagues held decidedly Monarchical views; and the belief became fixed in his mind that there was a party in the United States continually at work, secretly and sometimes openly, for the overthrow of republicanism here. This idea became a sort of monomania, and haunted him till his death more than thirty years afterward."
    The Federalist Society is NOT a society but a Political Party, that advocates the end of our democratic society today. The Freedom Caucus is the Federalists Party today. Whatever happened to the term G-Man? The Feds just make it more confusing.

      The not sustainable part is both sides keep pillaging our resources and handing them to corporate and wealthy donors. Corporate and wealthy tax cuts and a constant increasing of defense spending (another 1 trillion just this year) while cutting every service for Americans. That includes education, been going on since 1980. That has created an American population which has no idea what is going on and can be easily manipulated.

    'member the good old boy, Robespierre, from France. He reminds me of our outstanding good old boy, loved by all sorts , both in and out of jail. But to the point, Old Robe sent plenty on a last ride, and guess what? He was finally sent on the same bumpy transport to view eternity; a simple idiom of ' what goes around comes around.'. Our good old boy blossomed by deaths too, lying to old people about Covid, telling them early it was a sneeze-a-roo plaything. but killing them from the outset. An expert had told him the truth about how deadly the disease was before our boy told his lies about how mild it was. Much later he even admitted he knew the truth before he told his lies. You know how an idiom can become an irony.If what happened to Robe happened to our boy that would be an apt example . Then the prayers and parties would prevail.
