Oh I didn't hear. Went and looked after seeing this. :( She was amazing. Check out her doing this song with Miley Cyrus. She was having so much fun with it. Such a talent.
Best comment here! 🙂 Hard to say, what made Melanie great in those days. There was a storm of styles and development then, but still something happened, when they played Melanie. It was not just Folk. There was enough folk then, and good folk. But Melanie was a kind of het own. Perhaps I was amazed, simplicity could do it. But the world stood still for a few minutes, away from confusing things. But she could fill the whole room with music, with almost no background. The girls here can that too. Pretty good background, by the way: simple but catchy. But you tell me, what the magic is here?..
Very sad that we lost Melanie on Tuesday, January 23, RIP. Did you ever get the chance to meet her? Your cover is very lovely, and I'm sure she would have loved it too!
I love this Duo Session! It was more than a cover; it was a tribute to Melanie Safka. You even wore the style of dresses that Melanie wore and Mona had braids in her hair as Melanie sometimes had. I loved the sound from the two new Journey guitars and Mona's harmonica play was great, as it always is.
What a fun, authentic cover of this truly groovy song! I bet Melanie will love this! Superb throughout! Lead, harmony, instrumentation, French! Special nod to Mona's perfect blues harp!
Remember the original from my early 70’s childhood… And know by simple observation how relevant it is to our common experiences today. Thanks, MonaLisa Twins…! 👍
The fun you two had with this song shows with the smiles on your faces and the way you look at each other…it was pure joy to watch and listen….Melanie will be proud of this when she hears it❤️🧡
Another smash cover by the amazing MonaLisa Twins. I love Mona's high harmony at the end and the French verse was a delightful surprise. Brilliantly sung, brilliantly played.
The singing and harmonies are absolutely brilliant and beautiful, leaves me breathless. Love the French part, and Mona's blues harp is wonderful. Your talent just elevates this song so amazingly.
I love listening to this song in the MLT Club. Always makes me smile. Such a quirky little catchy tune with some unique lyrics. I like everything about your version, the vocals, the guitar, Mona on bass and harmonica and the groovy boots. I'm glad you put it on TH-cam. The world needs to smile.
I love the sound, Mona's sweet harmonica, and that mellow bass... I've never see anything like it. Lisa, that's the first time I've heard this son AND understood the words. And your French is brilliant... You two are a class act!
Look what YOU'VE done to my brain, you've picked it like a chicken bone and I think I'm totally insane. 🐔 What an upbeat and joyful rendition! Love it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yay! Melanie is a Classic Icon and you just added to this legacy! Mona's Blues Harp playing is always phenomenal. You all have so many layers going on ,how do you keep up with them all? Thanks Ladies for such a beautiful rendition 💛❤️
Purely, a refreshing rendition of a lovely lovely song, Melanie would/hopefully enjoys this take, outstanding harmonies, Mona's harmonica/bluesharp touch gives it that extra essence. Well done ladies, Kudos, Love it 😊🤘🌞💜
OMG, what a blast!! I have loved Melanie's music for decades. Then along come my new favourite singers. The accents. I love Melanie's accent and now Mona Lisa sing in their gorgeous accents. And the final irony (or anti-irony), the song is about a song being tied up in a plastic bag and turned upside down. Only Mona Lisa did just the opposite and raised Melanie's song to a higher level. Yah gotta love Mona and Lisa, they are fabulous.
I just love the Duo Sessions! Always loved this version. This brings me back as a teen watching the Talk Shows with singing this song. The memories. Loved it. Peace. Stay safe. God Speed. Stay Groovy!🍻🌹♥️🤘
Well that was more fun than gathering half a dozen eggs from our hens in a single day! I haven't heard that song in years, and your rendition was wonderful! From the very first, you twins captured my attention because, as I've told you before, both of my parents were twins and both were musical. BTW, my mother is still living, and now she's living with us. She's 91 and has Alzheimer's, so we have some good days, some bad days, but music always makes things better. She at times has trouble remembering routine things that she's done in the past six months of living with us, but when I play and sing an old song and stumble on the lyrics, she chimes in to tell me what line comes next. Oh, and I've played your videos for my Mom. I'll definitely be sharing this one with her.
What a joy to see them again, I missed them a lot, a week ago I lost my father and the music they make, I love it, they arrived at a good time, I needed their music, it heals my soul, I send you a big hug from Buenos Aires , Argentina 🤗
What's not to luv. Great song from back in the day. Great vocals and harmonies. Mona on bass and harmonica. Lisa singing lead, and guitar. And l luv those instruments. Peace be.
I remember Melanie singing this from so long ago. The lyrics really stand out to help you remember it. You always respect the original artist's work so well. It's a wonderful arrangement. It was great to hear it in the Club, and I'm glad it's out here now for everyone to hear it. Thanks.
Walking in to work at the B Dalton in the mall, I actually fell to the floor laughing when I heard 'Look What They've Done' on the Muzak performed by a dense string orchestra and thousand voice female choir that only repeat 'look what they've done to my song, Ma' through the playing. And it was mostly semi-staccato.
Nice! We love this Duo Session. Your voices are on fire here. It’s easy to see how much you enjoy this. Simply sensational. You chicks rock! Stay groovy!🧡🧡☕️☕️
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite singers. And now covered by two more of my favorite artists. Wonderful cover. Thank you. Just wonderful.
Many years ago, I was quite a good bass player. But I never managed the art of singing a melody at the same time as playing a bass line, let alone play an harmonica. Truly awesome talent on show!
Very well done, ladies. And I was impressed by the sound of the takedown carbon fiber Journey guitar. Darn it, you've got me thinking about buying one!
RIP Melanie - you brought many songs and memories to a generation.....
Oh I didn't hear. Went and looked after seeing this. :( She was amazing. Check out her doing this song with Miley Cyrus. She was having so much fun with it. Such a talent.
Here it is late September '24 and I just found out by your comment that Melanie is no longer with us.
I'm sure Melanie was proud of this cover of her song! RIP Melanie
Look what the twins did to her song ma, bravo.
Oh, Melanie, look what they've done to your song. Pure joy! Liked and shared to the world.
Best comment here! 🙂

Another perfect cover by our twins! I bet Melanie would love it if she ever hears it! Hard to believe she's 76 now.

I've been waiting to hear musicians that have it all. My wait is over.

As with all of their covers, MLT honors the original while adding their own elements and energy. A superb perfomance!
Haven't heard this in years. Wonderful harmonies and love the harp
Perfect song for y’all’s vocals 😍 btw finally someone using a harmonica!!! Love it 😇
Watch Mona and Lisa's cover Please Please Me on TH-cam. Mona plays the Blues Harp in that one too!
@@rickross8917 that’s awesome good deal 😊 I’ll listen now! Also the Beatles are my favorite band so YES 😄

The Harmonica added a certain charm to the song!

Music seems to unlock that door for quite a few dementia patients and this is such a unique arrangement of a classic song.
A fabulous version of a fine song.
