"Can someone explain cube throw?"
"You throw the cube!"
Perfect.
51:00 Also the 2nd most viewed twitch clip of sgdq19
The fact that two of them said it in unison made it that much better.
50:57
"So a stuck launch… essentially, you get stuck and then you launch."
That was peak comedy
"Reportals are hard, one of them is actually frame-perfect"
"Tick-perfect or frame-perfect"
"Yes."
"Okay"
tick perfect
Imagine speed running a conversation while playing portal 2 at GDQ
As soon as i read this they said it
19:11
At 60 FPS, it's frame-perfect. You get a single frame window to hit the wall, because you're going at terminal velocity when you enter the portal, so the flip is just one frame. At higher frame rates you get more frames to execute, but it's the same time period, because the physics are reliant on the tick rate.
"i´m going to give you a countdown to start the timer....... start"
He speedran the countdown
Wanted to say this xD
He used his hands and did three two one to tell them
This run must have come a long way...they saved about 7 years of dialogue 5 times
The first runners are only about a third of the way through their runs in 2019.
Underrated.
And about 18 million years in loading screens
nah they saved 7 years of gameplay over the course of five times, thats why its so cleanly routed in 2019
dont forget the multiple lifetimes of loading screens
My best "mind blown" moment comes from the end of this game. They explain at one point that the white gel is made from moon rocks, but you don't really think much about it, since it just seems like a random fact the game is throwing at you. After hours of additional gameplay, you get to the final boss and you get stuck... you don't know what to do... then it hits you. There's a hole in the ceiling and you can see the moon! It absolutely blew my mind when I realized I had to shoot the moon XD
Here's the other part, they bankrupted themselves going to the moon for more and more rocks; they could have just shot at the moon.
Chekov’s gun and all.
Ugh. As soon as I saw a big white thing I shot it. I felt so cheated. I didn't realize why the game was ending. I didn't get to solve the final puzzle because I had ingrained the solution into my muscle memory.
"because I'm a potato"
Applause
**slow clap**
best community
Haven't watched the full video and read that as "applesauce."
I hate me.
"Portal 1 was a much worse coded game."
Valve developer: Cries
It wasn't made by valve. It was a student project at Digipen University. They were then picked up by Valve after the game was finished and released
The original game also had a mechanic where you can literally shoot a portal through a portal. It was changed for Portal, but... well, the speedrun kinda brings it back, in a more complex way lol
@@cognizant3252 You got the timeline wrong.
y
@@cognizant3252 no the first game was also made by valve but by the students you mentioned. the project you were talking about is called narbacular drop and it was the original idea for what later became portal under valve
42:11 the game thinks you should have momentum, so it gives it to you.
You deserve it.
...aww, thanks, game!
If only Modern Sonic worked like that...
its really good for a casual game.
because it also slows you down.
doesnt matter how fast or slow you go if you are in a reasonable threshhold you will get the perfect amount of speed to make a perfect jump.
"Frame perfect or tick perfect?"
"Yes"
"Okay."
40:16 Terminal velocity of a potato is estimated at about 63.5 m/s while the terminal velocity of a human is around 53 m/s. The terminal velocity of a potato is about 10 m/s faster than the terminal velocity of a human
Which is why you see the potato fall faster than you towards the end of the fall.
7:11 Guy: says a thing
Literally everyone else: deafening scilence
Portal - 7min
Portal 2 - 1 hour
Again, Portal is broken.
So Portal 3 is 8+ hours.
played as intended it would take 3 months of game time.
Jones Crimson Portal 3 is forever since it's sadly never gonna come out.
@@Lightning_Lance Or 1 hour 53 minutes
i JUST realized the blue lines behind the timer are binary written from top to bottom with a bright line as a 1 and a dark line as a 0, thats incredible.
Pretty clever design yeah
damn i've watch a lot of these and never noticed
When he talked about how bad the mapping was in co-op, I immediately thought about how you can complete the entirety of the human vault without your partner.
“Why can’t you solve a simple test?”
*literally flies straight to the end*
_Are you absolutely sure you're solving these correctly?_
*flying around and phasing through everything* ...... yes.
This has probably been the most chill and fun GDQ so far, with the audience participation, the cameraman having fun, the jokes and strats used. Looking forward to the rest!
You should definetly check out the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion run from AGDQ2019. That one is my absolute favorite.
If you want to watch a chill, fun filled gdq go watch some runs from 2014. Still the best
15:28 "But yeah, the way to do that map is, Valve just made not a perfect game, so..." Basically the entire run summed up
You get *stuck* and then you *LAUNCH* 44:58
I'm trying to follow what is happening on screen, but I...
*Can't Even*
The only downside of this run is you don't get to hear all the great dialouge. There is so many great lines
Can someone explain cube throw?
Yeah, you throw the cube
even Wheatley said, "haha yes"
this was a really good run and im glad to see some humor mixed in to something so stressful
The Caveman Johnson donation had me dead lol.
Amazing speedrun, great participation, great commentary, absolutely amazing watch. Cheers
"Can somebody explain Cube Throw?"
"You throw the cube."
"Well..."
*applause*

Turret Wife Serenade: _Am I a joke to you?_
clean run, he seemed a bit nervous at the start which is understandable but really clean
Oh my god. The girl on the couch is my cousin. How could she not have told me that’s awesome!!!!
This game is so good, I remember being blown away the first time i played it
same
My favorite game ever, humor, puzzles, and a lot of fun! Too bad that it’s never getting another sequel.
yeah valve are too busy making shitty card games and csgo cases lol
Portal 2 has custom levels made by community, some of them are heavily modded. At the moment there is ~850000 custom levels and about a 1000 are created every day. Valve just knows there is no need in sequel.
it's better this way
@@dabmasterars I want to know more about the Borealis and the world of Half-Life, though, not just do more puzzles : (
Awesome seeing my favourite game being cheesed for charity. So sad I missed it live
Dude: says the word gamers
Croud: extremely loud cheering
Tick perfect or frame perfect? Yes.
Can't Even Is Absolutely Amazing
I spent literal hours In the portal loading screen. Every time including when I died it would take 2 minutes
I like how you’re solving these tests by breaking the laws of physics
In a game about physics
the game isn't about physics, the game mechanics literally break the laws of physics in the first place
I remember watching can’t evens run live way earlier this year. So happy to see he made it to gdq. If you remember me, nice job my man :)
GDQ is always amazing, no matter who's doing the run or what game it is. This run in particular was super fun to watch ✌🏻
Oh god, the music in this game is still soooo good. And that run was incredible!
a highly skilled speedrun on one of my favorite games with a very entertaining commentary? i must be blessed.
I don't even understand whats happening most of the time lol
Yeah I never really liked glitched runs of Portal (1/2). It's not really one of those runs that are nice to watch even though they are quite technical and require precise movement. Normally I enjoy watching a speedrun of a game I just casually completed but Portal wasn't one of them. At least not the glitched runs.
Chaosmagican Yea, Portal Glitchless is more fun to watch IMO.
It's like... You *can't even* understand
2019 is definitely the best GDQ to come.
This was such a fun run to watch thank you!
I love GDQ. It's just so good in so many ways.
""Is it tick perfect or frame perfect?
"yes"
No one's really gonna talk about the $10,000 donation? @ 11:32
They did talk about it and even applauded
@@BreakTheBeat852 He meant the comment section
That’s because, while it’s great, it does happen fairly often. The Yetee donates a lot of money for GDQ, since they are one of the main vendors and sponsors for the event.
really enjoyed that never seen a speed run, great stuff
Vibrations wothout v-sync is like watching old tv static
19:15 Tick perfect or frame perfect? Yes.
I blink and he solves the puzzle
I loved the runner, and the funny couch commentators. A very lively and entertaining run.
As someone who's 30 the idea that in the future you could fill a room full of people just to watch a guy complete a couple of levels really fast is mind blowing.
You could say the same about most sports
So THIS is the face behind those tutorials
i've been watching speedruns and playing portal games all my life yet
my brains can't comprehend portal-speedruns
Damn. Clicked this 1 hour video thinking I'd probably just watch like 5 minutes but wow that was awesome and really engaging to watch.
I completed this game again a short while ago in 1 day and had an absolute blast playing it
20 minutes in and I'm thinking to myself "I'm not going to get to here about the lemons, am I?"
i love the "manual override on this wall" line
my favorite by far
This was fascinating to watch
You can speed run portal 1 in the loading times of portal 2
I guess you could say,
he *can't even* use all three gel types!
With portal 2’s load time a no plugin run would take so long portal 3 would be out
What a lively crowd
When you realise Portal 2 is 10 years old next year
My absolutely favourite speedrun!!
>Explains how a good RNG skip makes GLaDOS' defective turrets make no sense
Maybe GLaDOS just got bad RNG?
This run inspired me to throw a cube.
Love this game
I love watching this late at night, it's currently 3:28am
Me just watching this and thinking “I can do that” so I try to speed run portal 2 after the first level nope not doing it I got too pissed off and rage quit
This is my favorite video game ever
This was hilarious!
I came here to watch like 5 minutes and here I am having watched the whole thing
Dude same
i literally watched 1 video on elevator skip (because its also a funny glitch) and found a consistent setup immediately
What goes up, must go more up
SPAAACE!!
When the portal gun is being maken, this guy would just be like spiderman in the city. Jumping everywhere and would be the hero of the world.
Bro its just cool.
MOOOON!
Run is great and absolutely love the commentary but does anyone else notice the screen tearing in the game it's pretty distracting to me inc retain parts.
The game probably runs faster at uncapped framerate
It's very hard not to notice sometimes.
vsync slows framerate and messes up some tricks in most source games
yea was about to comment about that
He kinda mentioned it, not specifically l, but he said he was running the game at like 950 FPS on a 60Hz monitor, which will definetly make it tear.
30:30 That's so weird, I've always had the opposite, where my stream comes out brighter than my actual settings. I remember in parts of Alien Isolation I just played by watching my output instead of the game to save flashlight battery.
"one of the best cutscenes but time is time"
Its also space...wOOOOooooOOO
Hello? Subject management? Yes ummmmmm... how do I make my subject stop going at 30MPH as a minimum? It is breaking me.
Amazing game
I didn’t even know what was happening for most of this run.
This game really makes you feel like a badass
My fav game
I love how they over exaggerate with every single number they throw out
the level where you find Glados as a potato, if you go up to the control room, behind the file folder. you will find a door. on the other side YOU WILL FIND THE BERTH OF THE BOREALIS! (HL3 Confirmed)
7:55 "zombie!"
that explanation of tick rate is why people don't understand what tickrate does.
I've watched this video 10 times
He CAN'T EVEN lose
I'll give you a countdown to start... start.
Now this is pod......portal racing
vsync yikes those artifacts
Lol I don’t think I’ve ever noticed these types of artifacts until this speedrun
V-sync adds a lot of input lag and makes the mouse feel bad for speed running. The tearing is bad here because he is running the game at 900fps (for certain tricks) on a 60hz stream.
@@Harry101UK Didn't expect to see you here. Thanks for the info.
"One of the best parts of speedrunning this game is being able to listen to the dialog." ... talks over the entire dialog.
I know they were explaining important things about the speedrun, but I just found that statement funny!
yeah..... guess what......... i played tf2 with this guy TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I struggle to do this game in under six hours, but this, holy shit
27:03 its the second and only time we use switch glitch....
