These kind of practices also make it difficult to get invested in the stories and characters. If the story can get quiet-cancelled at any moment it stops being perceived as profitable enough. It must be a nightmare for the writers who actually care about making a cohseive, complete story but can't make long-term plans.
I read enough webcomics that I'm used to inconsistent updates and sudden cancellations. With Netflix originals, I just watch what they put up, and hope that an unknown amount of additional content shows up after some unpredictable time period. It is always disappointing to hear that something I enjoyed was cancelled.
You know, I just learnt from one of the hundreds of pictures being shown on the screen as you speak, that Dead End was cancelled. Do you know how disappointed I feel? It was incredible: it got you attached to the world with all the different worlds we had yet to explore and the characters too. It also managed to deal with time travel in a way that felt consistent and relevant for the world. It was just so amazing...
What Netflix does is somehow the worst of both worlds--they've avoided the benefits of the weekly format in terms of consistent attention while harming the quality of the shows by arbitrarily breaking it up (which would seem to go against the binge model).
This just reminds me of a quote by Netflix CEO either pre-pandemic or during, that his goal to "grow" Netflix was to ensure there was so much content that people "neglect sleep". It's always money to them. Thank God for unions and holding fast, here's to hoping the SAG-WGA coalition makes big industry changes. Going to watch your Inside Job video in a second. I started it after a coworker rec'd it, thinking I wouldn't be impressed and after finishing just felt an inconsolable loss at where it could have gone.
Netflix also does some horrible shit like getting the soul streaming rights to a show that's already made and aired outside of the US but will just... Not release the episodes until they feel like it. The little witch academia thing was bad enough, but then the absolute nightmare they pulled with Jojo's part six.
You admittedly had fun with the bisected final season, where it had a nice tone shift in the second half. But that didn't do much. But it's been slaughtering the animation department.
I love your stuff man and I’m here for the second upload. I’m glad that you have the confidence to upload again, but my one complaint, can you please add music when you’re talking it doesn’t have to be loud music just send it to captivate me because it just feels weird without any music I’m just watching a video essay Everything else is fine
I stopped watching most shows a long time ago, and this certainly doesnt help. This problem isnt exclusive to shows either. Movies have the issue with for example IT, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, rhe Hobbit movies, and to an extent Infinity War/Endgame. It makes consuming any type of media difficult in the modern day

Wow, what a gem of a channel. Glad to find it early on so I can see it grow.

good thing, that bojack horseman was one of the older shows, or it would have been canceled after season one propably.
damn, bro just came onto the TH-cam scene and dropped two (potentially 3) banger videos
I will watch your career with great interest
Also they cancel like 90% of their shows after just one season, so what's the point to care anyway... 😒🤷♂
u just got the joke about with the title, good joke, i'm so slow. also theres a good bisectual joke in there somewhere

Will they split Stranger Things season 5. My guess is yes.
AoT Final season cour 4!
Noted.
Gud video me like
Splitting seasons is pretty much standard for anime.
Not really, most do weekly air. The splitting mostly happens when adaptation of certain material needs it or production has issues.
