Loved the detail review you went in to on this movie and can relate to it. I was overall a fan and can understand the forced feeling of dance sequences.
Im not sure where you are on your indian movie journey, but I am generally not a fan of indian movies as they are too dumbed down in my humble opinion and too much dancing. However, I do like ones with a message in them and so a fan of some of Amir Khan's movies - 3 Idots, Stars on Earth, Laal Sign Chaddha which is a copy of Forest Gump with an Indian twist and as a young man loved Laggan. As a kid loved Coolie with Amitabh Bachchan. Enjoy
Happy to also give you my understanding of the cultural reasons behind some of the scenes with my Indian and English up bringing.

Thanks for the recommendations! We're quite new on our journey and still have many Indian films to review. Thanks for the heads up on Khan, we will make a point to incorporate one of his films soon.
We try to do an Indian film every 2-3 months, both as a show of thanks to the many of you who tune into our program and also to learn more about the history and culture of the country, and cinema's place within. We've recorded an episode for Sardar Udham that will be posting in the next couple of weeks as our next one.
And yes, always happy to hear more about your experiences and thoughts on film and life, please feel free to share more.
