Thank you for the compliment! Chayote seems to be more commonly available now in most grocery stores. It can cost 70cent to $1 for each so I am glad to be able to supply this for our family. It’s a mild slightly sweet taste so even the kids will tolerate it, more than zucchinis.
When I saw the beginning of the video the plant & fruit looked familiar. I immediately went to google it and of course it’s what we always called a choko. I just love them, but that’s a matter of taste. I was just wondering how readily available they would be at the right time of year to try to grow them. When we were growing up just about everyone had a choko vine, but these days they are not so common. Thanks for sharing this video, I’m definitely going to give it a try if I can find some fresh chokos. Because we are heading into winter now and since the terrible flooding we’ve had in our region, vegetables are in short supply.
I think it would be great to grow choko if you have the space. Glad you recognize it. There are many diverse ethnic groups here in southern Texas so can find this squash even at our local chain grocery stores called HEB; in fact, chayote/choko is also at Walmart here. Good luck, happy growing!

Sorry I just saw your comment under another. The light bulb is hung around the arch for night light when we are hanging out in the yard at night. 🤭😄
