An informative conversation throughout. Important to the acknowledge the sociologist who coined the term "white collar crime" Edwin H. Sutherland, 1939. He did ground-breaking, exhaustive research and after reviewing hundreds of court decisions on white collar crime cases, was bold to question "...why the law has a different implementation for white collar crime criminals than others. " Thank-you, Dr. Sutherland (1883-1950).
It's interesting to note that the ruling that passed, established corporations as people in legal terms however they cannot be jailed as people. They can be fined, go bankrupt, and face financial penalties but actual long term prison sentences for a coporation does not seem to happen. Only a small amount of ndividuals of the corporations face prison sentencing. Frankly if you want to truly deter white collar crime treat the same corporations as people. The same way they benefit in tax breaks and any other personhood benefits the upper echelon of the same corporation should allbe convicted together under one body of that corporation.

Yes thank you for mentioning Dr Sutherlands name and contributions. I was surprised the professor did not mention his name.

It's interesting how the definition of white collar crime has evolved from what it used to mean until the ongoing debate in literature today.
