To get the highest score possible, you need to defeat the first four spawning enemies then delete their cannonballs to get the enemies to respawn another time. The game detects that there are no more cannonballs and enemies left so it begins a timer to respawn the starting enemies to prevent the quest from locking up. Score is calculated from enemies defeated plus time remaining once you destroy the last target, and it so happens to be that the spawning enemies that you defeat gives you much, much more score than actually proceeding with the quest normally and trying to finish with the most time remaining as possible. With that said, the goal is to complete as many respawn cycles as you can while still saving enough time to complete each wave.
The possibilities of what score can actually be achieved in this quest is very hard to say. With the best RNG and precise respawn times, Br is capable of completing another respawn cycle for wave 2 and 3 compared to this run (meaning a score of 21700-22000 is possible). However since they are entirely dependent on enemy AI, which more often than not does things that are not desirable, I elected to not take the risk and play safe after squeezing in one more cycle in wave 1, which takes about 1 out of 20 tries to actually work out. Wave 2 and 3 are just about as tight. There were several things that obviously did not go as intended in this run but I'll spare going into detail on each of them. Basically if I attempted to go for another cycle in wave 2, I would have been short about 2-3 seconds, and the quest would have ended there. Wave 3 was just really slow overall.
This score was done mainly due to the extra cycle in wave 1. This was very difficult to pull off because not only is the timing so strict on getting the first four enemies to respawn three seconds faster each time, the pettas needs to follow you completely to the gororon and needs to line up perfectly so you can lotus both enemies at the same time, and you also need to counter so you have enough PP to lilac towards the dotts at the end.
Defeating the first respawning enemies might seem like a really simple concept but this is where most of the time saving happens, and it is actually kind of complicated with how it works. To get to the point, you want to find a way to instantly defeat the enemies, then pick up and delete their cannonballs as fast as you can. Any fraction of a second you waste, lets say keeping an enemy alive slightly longer than it should or misclicking the pickup/delete key, will be a reset in wave 1, or cost precious time in waves 2 and 3 if you're not going for the extra cycle. If you are late, the enemies will spawn up to 3 seconds slower, which is too much time to waste if you're looking to clear with extra respawn cycles.
Should I have used a sechetyl and used flex arrow more? Probably, but I really don't understand how the targeting for the PA works and I am too lazy to wrap my head around it. If I am too close, the arrow goes flying off into nowhere missing the back few enemies. If I am too far, the run distance to pickup the cannonballs doesn't make it much better than using katana. This is something I should have practiced more beforehand.
All in all, I didn't really enjoy this one as much as the other Arks Records. Controller players are at a disadvantage because of how often you need use OTS when throwing cannonballs as well as having to pickup/delete cannonballs in rapid succession, and I don't think being able to participate with level 60 characters was intended, which forces certain players to pay money to create an alt if they already had two other alts around. Actually getting to level 60 though didn't take as long as I thought, and I decided to go for it since I saw people in JP servers being serious about it. What level 60 basically does is reduce enemy HP while still being able to equip high-end gear. If we're looking strictly at a lvl 65 leaderboard, then I don't think I can compete with the scores that other players have accomplished thus far.
