- Fujinon XF 23mm F/1.4 R is Fujifilm’s top quality prime lens. It is fast, very well built and delivers amazing photo quality. I review the XF 23 mm, show sample images, determine the lens’ sharpness graph and the sweet spot. I talk about the lens’ optical qualities and amazing bokeh that this relatively wide angle lens is able to produce. The lens is an all around performer, especially in low light conditions. It excels in everyday photography because of its very useful focal length of 23 mm. The lens is not small but still it finds lots of use in street photography. I think the Fuji XF 23mm F/1.4 R is a smart purchase for Fuji X-mount camera owners. The photos it produces are tack sharp and joy to look at.

I bought the new version and its the best lens i've ever used. You have no idea until you use it. I have a 16mp X-E1 and with the new 23mm its more than enough resolution. Razor sharp, closer minimum focus distance and a 9 blade aperture and weather sealed. I paid $600 used like new. I do like that the older 23 is shorter though
Hi! Thanks so much for your feedback. I agree with you, this is a very special lens. Kind regards!
A great lens for flat art like walls, and their contents.. edge to edge is outstanding on my 23mm 2.0 already, so I can only imagine this lens.
Hi! Yes, this is indeed true. The entire frame has great sharpness. This lens is very practical, although it’s a bit on the heavy side. Cheers!
Wait... is this about the old version of this lens, not the LM WR one? Not sure what's going on as I have one of these old ones and it's way too soft! Trying to sell mine as I can't rely on it unless it's F/2.8 upwards
Hi! Yes, this is about the older version of the lens, the R version. It's possible that your unit has some optical problem. Are you seeing problems in the corners or all over the frame? Have you ruled out your camera? Kind regards?
Had that lens and used it on my x pro3 and xe4: no Problems about softness.
@@venom2k2 Hi! Yes this lens works so well with the cameras you have. Cheers!
GEM of a lens people so silly selling them
Hi Simon! I'm certainly holding on to my lens. You're right that it's a gem. Kind regards!
thinking of seeling mine... hardly used. too sharp maybe?
@@malthus101 Hi! Yes, it's a very sharp lens. Some people find the 23 mm very useful some use it less. I also use this lens only occasionally. But when I do I'm very happy I have it. Cheers!
Nice. Just bought it used for 390 dollars! After getting the 35mm 1.4 !! I was hooked! On my xt5 is awesome ! Looks so cool
Hi! Congratulations, this is a great lens. Enjoy your photography!
Grate lens! Thank you for reweyu! I will check at 6.4 !
Hi Valeri! Thanks so much for watching. Kind regards!
I love Fujifilm 's focus on small cameras particularly the X-Txx series. I have the X-T30 and 2 lenses: the Fujifilm XF 35 mm f2 wr, incredible but a little narrow on an apsc sensor, and the Fujifilm XC 16-50 version 2 kit lens, honestly good but not great. How would you compare the Fujifilm XF 23 mm f1.4 , too big?, to the Fujifilm XF 23 mm f2 wr, my preference I think, to the Fujifilm XF 27 mm f2.8, super compact. I only buy my camera gear used; and in 35 mm to 40 mm over an equivalent is my favorite focal length for photography.
Hi Philip! I also find that around 35 mm is a really great focal length. So, While I love my XF 23mm F/1.4 it is not getting as much use as slightly longer focal lengths. You have some great lenses. The XF 23mm is amazingly capable. I certainly do not regret buying it. However, it is not small. You mentioned the XF 27mm. The difference between these lenses in terms of size is mountain high. The XF 23mm will turn a small camera into a large camera, the XF 27mm is tiny (th-cam.com/video/0HBjon21kn8/w-d-xo.html). The 27mm is a joy to carry around. Optically both are amazing. Kind regards!
I am an XT-30 owner too; my street lenses are 27/2,8 and 23/1,4 and I am very happy with them. Of course the 1,4 version is heavier and bulkier compared to the minuscule 27mm, but it is also equally compact and heavy as the 18-55 kit lens.
@@anbar5675 Hi! I agree that these two lenses are amazing for street photography. Thank you very much for watching!
Lovely lens and I miss it dearly! I bought the x100vi at release and couldnt justify having two 23mm lenses, so this one had to go. It fitted so perfectly on my x pro3 and I have been debating buying it again, but again: why have two 23mm lenses 😅
Hi! This is a good point. The XF 23mm R is a fine lens, indeed. Kind regards!
because you have two cameras... why would you need another focal length 😇
@@andreasscharf8978 Hi! The 23mm focal length is very usable, indeed. Many people go for it as their first choice. Kind regards!
One day you need a Fuji X100😅...Happy Easter Tom.
Hi Jan! Sure, the X100 would be very nice :). Really great to hear from you, Happy Easter!
