if you flick the PL 259 plug when he solder is hot it will come right out there makes it easier when cleaning it out also if you unscrew the back fist also males it easier
Keep in mind, the wavelength must be matched to the radio once installed. Cutting the center wire will change the ratio, and distances of as little as 1/16" matter. If you don't have a meter, get one. The final wavelength is usually adjusted by making the antenna longer or shorter.
