Love it! I think that the 'new species' category is a cool idea as it gives some people the freedom to create new animals that will probably never be added to the actual game 😢 also fun for the people who install these mods because it offers a whole new dimension of wildlife 😊❤

I'm still holding onto hope that Frontier will eventually release a full mod development kit towards the end of PZ's lifecycle like they did for Planet Coaster. It's a long shot, but considering how far the modding community has come, I cant help but wonder how much more they can accomplish if given the ability to make their own rigs and animations. That really does seem to be whats holding them back at the moment. As for future requests, I want coyotes and a full mexican build pack to go with them. It is so hard to build for central america right now when it really should not be.

I really am curious if they will add something like this at the end of development for Planet Zoo. It may also depend on their future plans of the game or a potential Planet Zoo 2 someday.. We shall wait and see, but I really do hope with you that they will make things a lot easier in the future for modders and other people to add stuff to Planet Zoo, would be super amazing ❤️
But I also dont say no to a lot more years of official development and packs by frontier, haha ❤️
Hi, I'm Marc, the creator of the eland, and 13:22 that is not how it's supposed to look like (the gray fur), I forgot to fix it lol. Although I think this only happens with one variant. Narwhaler (model) and NicholasLionRider (textures) participated with the horns, and Leaf did the coding
I couldn't get over the gorgeous black head on the bulls when I downloaded that mod!!! I saw them briefly in Africa and I was in awe! Thank you
They are one of my favorite antelope species. Just downloaded it couple of days ago and looking forward to include it on my new zoo.

Small correction for 2:43, muskox are not bovines, though they are bovids in the family Bovidae. Bovines are only members of the specific Bovidae subfamily Bovinae, and muskox are in another subfamily called Caprinae. So the muskox is a caprine, not a bovine, which make them more closely related to sheep and goats than to cattle.

A great modding community is probably the best thing a game can have. Mods keep me engaged with the game - not just by keeping it fresh and expanding gameplay, but by creating a social side to the game. I spend so much time in the modding discord and I love how dedicated modders and mod users are to the game. I’ve got so many mods in my game, and I’ve commissioned 6 (hopefully all of the animals I commissioned become real DLC someday!). Mods are never quite as good as official content, so when official versions come out I’m always super excited to buy them.
I love mods, and I love the Planet Zoo modding community! I’m so grateful to Frontier for removing the species cap, because now I can be excited for every DLC species without worrying about them taking the spot of an animal I wanted more.

Also @LeafProductions if you're watching this please please do create some extinct animals espcetially some Terror birds like Titanis. I just love all your mods.

I'd love more of our unusual Australian fauna. Bilbys, Bandicoots, Numbats, Quolls, Brolgas....ect animals that you guys overseas either have never seen before or barely even heard about!
These look absolutely awesome, hopefully when we upgrade our PC we can play with them! (The Echidna mod is fantastic!)

Great to see more spotlight on the incredible new species mods. Ive been enjoying a few for a long time, a couple that i had to say goodbye to because official versions released instead. but ive had great enjoyment. they add a lot to your zoo if your missing specific animals.
The modders take such great care in creating the models, the details and so much more. its amazing.
also juvinile scaling is such a blessing. its nice to see in larger groups the babies being varied sizes depending on age

It's really funny to see you get excited about the mods. I have been playing with (and maintaining for some time) the more colormorphs mod in Sandbox pretty much since the beginning. Though I'm really happy Hexabit helped make it ACSE compatible so I no longer have to actively maintain it as it became quite a chore at some point. Now it is a really stable mod and works like a charm.
I've also played with new species mods, but less so as the animal roster of PZ expanded. Though I must say that Echidna looks adorable.
I'm curious what you'll both have to say about the prop mods. I delved into them once (pre-ACSE) and found it a nuisance I had to wait for them to be fixed before I could load back into my zoos. I hope they have been stabilized now that they have been ported to ACSE.
Thats a very good question about the props! We didnt dive into that one yet but its high on my list to cover soon with Leaf and see what he has to say about them 😃
for the top of my wishlist, more cold area and mountainous animals. One of the animals is probably coming as a anniversary animal, the collared peccary. The others being leopard seal, elephant seal, markhor, Rhea, american porcupine, wild boar, takin, wolverine, but also some tropical animals like the tamandua, monkeys and brazilian porcupines :)

Just thinking of animals at my local zoo, the duiker/red duiker (Jen apparently posted some duiker mods a long while ago), pelican, victoria crowned pigeon, fishing cat (or even just an ocelot or serval) would all be good to add; Animals like the colobus monkey or cape porcupine, too. And after all this time they dont have a sea otter, which is like a personal attack tbh.
In terms of branching out, I really wish they had big, habitat-size snakes. Its ridiculous that a teensy prairie dog gets to be a habitat animal and the iguana is in a tiny exhibit- iguanas are bigger than prairie dogs! I imagine the difficulty is with making the body move realistically but come on, they have water animals and are working on flying animals without even trying to make a green anaconda (which weigh 100+ kilograms...).
And heres my BIG IDEA for planet zoo expansion: domestic animals. Hear me out. The zoo I went to as a kid had a petting zoo/farm with typical farm animals. I honestly think a kid-focused farm-based expansion would be an excellent addition. The animals wouldn't be very "exotic" but you could include paying to get into the petting zoo and kid-specific and farm-specific items, and have specific domestic animal breeds like flemish giant rabbits, jacob goat (a domestic goat with FOUR horns), shetland pony (with accompanying pony rides, either free or extra charge), texas longhorn cattle (its got big horns, everyone loves that), guinea pigs (cute but also domesticated 5000+ years ago in peru), and any varieties of unique ducks or chickens, of which there are 10 million extremely wacky breeds. People lose their minds over pied, albino, and melanistic planet zoo animals. Now imagine you introduce a variety of fun petting-zoo ducks and guest feedback encourages you to keep a unique variety of petting-zoo animals instead of just like, 12 albino ostrich like in every one of my zoos. This pack would have kids playgrounds, carousels, maybe like a model train or special garden items- all sorts of items you find at real zoos to entertain people!
It amazes me what modders can do! This was a great showcase for modded animals Leaf. Once again, great video.

Some corrections for Golden Snub-nosed Monkey: the holders of GSN Monkey are not just 4-5, there are at least 36 facilities hold GSN Monkeys but all of them locate in East Asia. The back fur need more improvement bc the back fur of GSN Monkey GIRL is liked long mantled (especially for males)
Olive baboons aren't that common around here so it makes sense you haven't seen them, I've seen them in Belgium (Dierenpark de Zonnegloed) and Germany (Zoom Erlebniswelt).

What a great mod! the animals looked so realistic. It's a bit unfortunate they can't lay egg cuz in the Zoo Tycoon 2, the birds were able to do that and i remember downloading a platypus mod that are able to lay egg too, even though it wasn't based on bird (obviously). but it can cu the base game already had that.
Gosh yes, I remember from day 1 when being in the frontier office a week after the planet zoo announcement that we were in a meeting room with community members and content creators, asking tons of questions about the game and what to expect.. and back then we already asked about eggs.. but nope :( no plans.. sigh.. was so sad about it! And still am :(

Yes they did. It was in one of the early dev diaries video things they made after the announcement of PZ. It's been so long that i have no clue which vid they said it in, but i do remember being excited to see the animals grow, and really disappointed to see the animals jut 'pop' into adults.@@DeLadysigner

Personally I like to see mods in other youtubers zoos and stuff. But I won't download it for my own game cause I want to keep it clean and my pc won't Be able to handle it honestly 😂😂
I actually have no idea if adding animals with mods asks a lot of space requirements and such! Like if you download too many mods, if it will do anything with your game performance as well? Good question!! ❤️

@@samuelubeda5747 i only downloaded them myself for these videos. So all problems you will see accure (during the coming episodes) all happened for that one zoo. I have not used animal mods for my other zoos apart from a fee years ago when my mods testing zoos crashed and after that city zoo started crashing as well 😅
All I did do what use PZ plus for a short while for some easy fixes in my Eco Island Park, but remove the mod right away after using it. We will talk about PZ plus in the 4th episode 😊😅
The fact that they use the imperial system.. is a reason I’m never gonna use mods.

What’s the point of the people who made the game than because literally every single time they make cool new animals. Everyone is just like well. This looks like garbage and get mods, I understand mod makers put a lot of effort into it, but so does the game seems like no one cares🤷♂️ especially leafy. He never seems happy with the game, so I don’t know why he plays. He constantly trashes on planet zoo, models, and get mods.
