Sometimes TH-cam recommendations get it right. This is excellent and I would never had known it existed. Thank you night Shift!

as a former night shifter, nothings really changed despite the 18 year difference from when I was doing it apart from the inevitable guy who does it for the 'premium'. Fair play to the guy for being brutally honest on national television in front of his boss!

Working through the Night is hard work and takes a toll on most people's health. They should be paid extra

@@NightShift101 Damn, right. I only worked nights for just over a year and by the end I was completely drained by the experience. A lot of my co-workers had been doing it for years and years but I couldn't hack it long term.
Night shift was also underappreciated and we were not held in high regard by day shifters and often got the blame for a lot of things.

You have to realise, this wouldn't happen today. The PR deparment would be all over it and would be strictly controlled who you could talk to. Back in this era, it's a different world.

That takes me back. One of my first jobs in I.T. was writing the software that converted unique product codes into the Bar Code. I was 18 and found it quite fascinating for about 3 months. Nerd ! I went on to do better things though lol.

Hard to remember life before bar codes.

@@NightShift101 Before all that I had a part time job after school in the local Co-op. I would label up products with a little hand held sticker printer. 14p for a bottle of tomato sauce lol. There was no way tell tell what was selling well and what until the One Armed Bandit style tills were replaced with electronic and bar code scanning. Now the software and data analysis would let any shop know what was popular. It made sense back then. Today is another issue altogether because of tracking and advertising and the scanning of loyalty cards. It's not just about what products are popular but who is purchasing them. Adverts on the internet and social media now come flooding in. Good or bad ? I don't know, but I didn't invent it. I am retired now, things change and non of it bothers me. You can be online and remain anonymous and that goes with shopping too. I have my secrets ! No you do not need to purchase a VPN !

I am now in my 50s bit by bit this system creeped in now the people just except it .
I first saw it when I was in a factory thay gave us some stickers and said put them there on the goods and once it gos past the lasers it will then log them goods on to our mew pc network 😊now the systems in ever place you go has it helped mankind only bigger companies that want to get rid of there work force and replace it with robots and AI
