  • Urban agriculture is proliferating across the state of California on both public and private lands. Learn from UC Agriculture and Natural Resources advisor Rachel Surls and other California experts how urban farms are transforming the landscape of food production, helping to address urban food insecurity, creating opportunities for micro-enterprise development, and educating our youth and the public about the value of growing and eating healthy foods. The video highlights the work of thirteen urban farmers from Los Angeles through the San Francisco Bay Area.

Food is our medicine, it brings joy, it unites us with the earth and reminds us of God's love. I would like to see farming villages/coops, using permaculture, encompass (surrounding) every city.

I wish we had more local farms using sustainable agriculture, like permaculture. With commercial agriculture and fishing, so much food is wasted, land destroyed, resources depleted, taste and nutrition diminished, all for greed.

I've seen many urban gardens/farms and I don't like them at all. I think most of them fail, for obvious reasons.
