Jackson JS22-7! I upgrade EVERYTHING! (apart from bridge) - Tone Comparison (Bareknuckle BruteForce)

  • Hi all!
So i finally got around to installing the mods to the budget Jackson JS22-7 which include:
    - Bareknuckle Brute force humbuckers
    - Graphtec Tusq nut
    - Hipshot locking tuners
In the video i directly compare the tones before and after installing the MODS. I think the tone difference is pretty clear. The brute force set give a more saturated gain sound and removes a lot of fussy harsh frequencies that the stock pickups had. No doubt the Tusq nut made a huge difference too.
Hope you enjoyed the video guys and hopefully it helped you decide whether you'd like to pimp your guitar with something from the Bareknuckle team!
    Cheers!

Awesome comparison video Brother. I love how you played pretty much exactly the same licks for both stock and upgraded and no backing track. Thank you for this. I don’t kno too much about bare knuckle p/u’s are they hard wired? I’m an ESP guy myself. I would love to find a vid with this guitar with EMG’s . Even tho I have the Schecter Demon 7 which, I’m really interested in this Jackson js22 -7. I already own the js22-6 (withDiMarzio super dist) and js32, (EMG81/85) which I love. Oh can you tell me exactly what tuners you put on there? Again, awesome vid and thank you.

Hi Henry, appreciate the comment thank you! The JS22 - 7 is a great base of a guitar to modify and play with, EMGs would be a great addition im sure. Bareknuckle are a great pickup company too and yeah according to their website they hand wire all there pickups. The tuners are called Hipshot Locking tuners that I got on eBay, hope that helps and thanks again.

I plan on doing the same but I want to get the 2017 model that comes with a maple fretboard and basswood body. I do prefer a satin finish and dark fretboard but I think the basswood body would make it sound better than the poplar body but idk for sure. I would replace the nut, tuners, bridge, pickups, and pots.

I think that might be what I have. It's the JS22-7 DKA-M Special Edition. Has basswood body, maple neck with black piranha inlays. Pickups are... Meh. I'll put something in it at some point. Got it for $149. I'll probably do hipshot tuning machines as well. May do the hipshot bridge too. Might as well do CTS pots too.

If you have never heard both sets on the same guitar your opinion is invalid. There is no piece of gear in the world that will make your pickups clearer and more high definition. Pickups are a WASTE of money, unless you're looking for a specific sound!!!!....Trust me.......as the stock pickups are actually Very decent on this guitar!(even a 5 second Reddit search will tell you this)......the stock pickups are Bottom heavy, like Korn or Slayer type stuff....so if you're looking for more Mid/High range stuff, then you'll probably want something different.....But keep in mind there's actually 3 DIFFERENT pickup styles for the JS-7 series!!!!......But tuners are the Real weak point on this guitar, but for $200 it's an absolute steal.
