If you thought Domino's was so good in the 2010s sir, then you should've seen how it was in the early 2000s! Domino's Pizza was EVEN BETTER then. Both in name, and in quality! The original name of this common U.S. pizzeria was thought up all the way back in 1965 as the og DomiNick's Pizza from 1960 was set to become a franchise. The current name was thought up in 2012! Also the quality was great! The service was good and the old logo from 1996 was ICONIC. There also was a distinctive smell of Italian American food inside your local store! That was so good. Smelled like pizza, chicken, oven baked sandwiches and cinnamon sticks! All at once. You also admired the sodas that you needed to wash down your order! Coke was the best back in my day as a 2000s kid when it was named Coca Cola CLASSIC (because of New Coke flop from 1985) and still had the original ORIGINAL recipe pre 2009. Tasted like pure high fructose corn syrup with a side of sugar according to young me! And the original pizza recipe? Was the bees knees. The crust was cardboard but edible, the sauce was VERY tomato y and the cheese was not too stringy or fake! I grew up on this, mainly in the mid 2000s when I lived in my 3rd and most iconic hometown (Milford, Massachusetts). Whilst I played Spongebob Squarepants video games including Operation: Krabby Patty for the PC!
      Goodbye old school Domino's! (1999-2008)
You went downhill in 2009 as you changed pizza recipe and have never recovered in my opinion. Switched to Papa Gino's ( a New England based pizza chain) since then! As all the stuff there is still the ORIGINALS. Right down to the decor, which looks like it's straight outta the 1980s!

But that's not all Herry! Remember the good ol' days when Pizza Hut was a SIT DOWN restaurant? This concept PEAKED in the 1980s when you actually would take your date out for a romantic evening inside the old school Pizza Hut of yesteryear. Decorated glass lamps, checkered tables, the buffet and arcade games (Ms. PacMan or Galaga was probably the most common one) were just some of what Pizza Hut had to offer back then! The ingredients were actually created inside the restaurant rather than being premade like now. Their original pan pizza was a popular option before the recipe was changed! What about Book It!? Kids were encouraged to read and earn points towards pizza and other stuff.

And not only that Messi, but they have simply changed the name of this place from Domino's Pizza to JUST Domino's officially in October 2012 (which I'm NOT a fan of). The current name is giving me PTSD due to their annoying modern ads encouraging me to buy their products and the montone sounding lady who says, "At Domino's, you can..." I wanna sleep, man!! :(
And, they have screwed up TWO my favorite childhood items from there!
First was their iconic original pizza recipe. This was what actually put Domino's on the map for like 49 years! It had a good soft crust, excellent mild tomato sauce and REAL stringy cheese. Toppings were optional but I bet that they tasted better too! But ever since 2009? They changed the pizza COMPLETELY due to just a small amount of unsatisfied customers. Many of the old customers were PISSED OFF at this! My biggest complaint over their current pizza recipe is the sauce! Oh god, the sauce! As a kid, their original sauce was DEFINITELY my favorite part of the pizza (surprisingly not the cheese?) and it tasted so yummy! Now it's WAY too sweet (like candy) and SPICY (due to the inclusion of red peppers in the sauce which not EVERYONE can handle). The latter can give you severe heartburn!
And then they have discontinued the Cinna Stix in 2017 to be replaced by Cinnamon Bread Twists (which are TRASH because they get hard easier and don't taste as good, even IN the icing). That was my FAVORITE dessert ever, which actually kept me coming back to Domino's for years despite the pizza recipe change! But by 2017? I was pretty much DONE with them. No wait Messi, actually by 2019! Last year I even ate it cause I had ENOUGH of their fake ass nasty bullshit! >:(
Lastly, I haven't even VISITED my really old local Domino's in Milford, Massachusetts ever since 2009 (when I was forced to move out of my old, old house due to the aftermath of The Great Recession making my Dad unable to pay the mortgage). If I was to go back there today, then it would NEVER feel the same as it was back in like 2008 (when it was actually amazing and had like 80% new things added to the menu and services)! The signage AND menu are both absolutely updated and are horrible!
Bottom Line: Just order from another pizza chain like Pizza Hut, OR go to a local Mom and Pop shop (where they REALLY care about food quality especially their pizza). I promise you, you're going to love my suggestions! As a SUPER picky eater with actual working taste buds since 1999.

Too bad you can't show the proof, but I agree! Domino's (then called Domino's Pizza till 2012) has scrapped their original 49 year old pizza recipe in 2009 due to some complaints from customers. Stating that the crust was cardboard, the sauce tasted like ketchup, and the cheese wasn't very STRINGY LIKE!! I disagree, because as a 2000s kid, THIS was the pizza I preferred eating. It went SO WELL with the Cinna Stix and 2 liter of ORIGINAL Coke (or juice, as I preferred too)!!! The damage has already been done, as stated here in this EXTREMELY old article (just look at the hundreds of angry comments from the original customers).
      pizzaturnaround.com/2009/12/introducing-our-inspired-new-pizza/index.html
It took them like EIGHTEEN MONTHS to reinvent the pizza (so it was being developed throughout 2008 during The Great Recession, isn't that obvious that they did this to cut costs?!). Yikes, weren't the late 2000s (2005-2009) such a GRIM TIME?! This made the early 2000s (2000-2004) WAY BETTER (but I was mainly just a toddler with not many memories of the time). Took what was awesome about the 90s as leftovers into this time period, plus gave us the hit (then new) stuff! Even with 9/11 destroying America, I would TOTALLY relive the early 2000s any day. Just being a little kid! Playing, crying, accidentally soiling my Huggies Pull Ups on the way to da toilet and not getting tired for HOURS! The old versions of Spongebob, Chuck E. Cheese's, Spot the Dog, etc. has existed but not really anymore!! The introduction of such amazing technology like the PS2, the iPod and Windows XP. Let's go back!

Yes, I can totally agree with you Julia. Cause, as they say, no one outpizzas the hut! Also, they actually brought back the classic 1974 logo in 2019, capitalizing on NOSTALGIA. Good! >:)
Domino's on the other hand? Still hasn't changed their logo (and name) BACK to the old one yet. They also have refused to bring back the Cinna Stix (my favorite dessert from there ever) ever since 2017! Plus the ORIGINAL pizza recipe that they used for 49 years (changed in 2009). This is what I ate whilst watching old cartoons or playing a Spongebob PC game from 2001 (Operation: Krabby Patty if you're interested in what it's called) back when I was like 8 years old. "Techy Pizza Nights" at my old, old house will NEVER happen again thanks to what Domino's has DONE to my childhood (plus, I grew up into adult but that's PROBABLY not the reason why this kind of night doesn't hit the same anymore).
And, you know what's also better than Domino's Julia? Papa Gino's! This is a pizza chain based in New England where their pizza is STILL the original recipe AND they still have real cinnamon sticks (unlike Domino's) that taste very similar to Domino's. If you WERE real, then I would highly recommend you go try it out (if you have never had it before).

EVEN WORSE QUALITY as a matter of fact! During the pandemic because it has made MANY companies cheapen their products even more. I have already explained in this video that their iconic pizza was completely changed in 2009/2010 due to unsatisfied customers! It began development (privately) in 2008 when the negative results were growing on social media. There was nothing like the OLD Domino's from late 90s/early 2000s, when it truly peaked (not today)! Back then, they were actually competing against other chains (especially Pizza Hut, the unbeatable champion due to its amazing food quality and iconic slogan being "No one out pizzas the hut.") AND local Mom and Pop shops for best quality pizza and other Italian American food. Today? It's just a shell of its former self. After many years of eating mediocre quality food, I have LEFT Domino's for good in 2019 (Wendy's too that same year once the BBQ sauce was changed; Poor Dave Thomas).

Thank you! FINALLY someone with actual working taste buds. Domino's is truly one of the WORST pizza chains here in America (along with Little Caesar's which I have recently tried and HATED). It is a shocker to me that they are still in business (especially after changing their iconic pizza recipe around 2010 which has pissed off a lot of their old customers who frequently ordered pizza from there)! The original Domino's pizza recipe was my flipping childhood (alongside the Cinna Stix which are unfortunately no more). Some the BEST nights from my childhood were actually created at my old, old house in Milford, Massachusetts thanks to Domino's! Now there's just sweet, tasty, wonderful memories left. And that makes me very sad! The only OTHER pizza place I remembered liking aside from Domino's was Garden Pizza (a local pizzeria in Milford, Massachusetts that serves EXCELLENT Greek style pizza and other stuff). As a SUPER picky eater, my parents have really struggled in finding things that I would actually like to eat! And Domino's really helped me out in years past (leading up to 2008, before it went downhill in 2009 due to YOU KNOW WHAT).
This pizzeria is overrated, boring, has poor service and has ABYSMAL quality food (which CAN actually stink up your house and make you gag). Plus, your car seat might have a puddle of GREASE leaking through the box thanks to Domino's current pizza recipe if you remember once ordering a pie for yourself, or for everyone in your family to share. That's disgusting and hard to clean!
My opinion on Domino's is most definitely an unpopular one as most people actually like this place!

I can respect the fact that you STILL eat Domino's every now and then occasionally. But as for me, I bailed out continuing to have their food FOREVER in 2019 after realizing how FAKE everything has tasted! As I have stated in this video, I miss the way Domino's Pizza used to taste before 2009/2010! To me, I felt like there was NOTHING wrong with the original recipe that was used for a whopping 49 years. But suddenly, due to a small minority of whiny customers, their iconic pizza recipe (after roughly 18 months of research and testing) was changed in December 2009 just for them! Pizza is ruined now in all aspects (ranging from the crust to the cheese). But the worst part of a pizza pie from Domino's is the new sauce! And just so you know sir, I'm a sucker for some good ol' fashioned tomato sauce on a pizza, but THIS. Sauce is atrocious! It's too sweet (like candy), AND actually has the addition of red peppers, which are spicy! And not everyone likes spice in their food. I STILL can't get over what happened then about 15 years later. If I was able to go back in time to 2008, then I absolutely would! This singular year was golden (despite the recession) to me, and Domino's Pizza had EVERYTHING. The original pizza recipe, Cinna Stix (now discontinued), oven baked sandwiches and more! 2008 also saw the introduction of a pizza tracker (might still be used to this day), in which after you placed an order, the tracker has shown it being prepared in REAL TIME. I would scarf down old school Domino's whilst I was watching TV (back when it was still good) or playing PC games (particularly Spongebob Squarepants: Operation Krabby Patty from 2001), and these were some of my FINEST childhood memories! That are irreplaceable now. Thanks to Domino's screwing up their pizza, growing up, and moving out of my old old house that's located in Milford, Massachusetts in 2009.
Pizza Hut is INDEED way better than Domino's, and in my opinion TOO. I agree with you on that! They have successfully went back to an older logo, unlike Domino's! It's the 1974 one, BTW. People can get confused with this logo being oversimplified just because they think that it's FROM 2019, but in reality, it's not! The food is good at Pizza Hut as well. Mainly their pizza, and breadsticks! Particularly when these items are still hot and fresh from the restaurant! Too bad that they're doing away with the iconic sit down restaurants under the red roof (due to changes in consumer demands towards pizza and other Italian American food), because that SCREAMS classic Pizza Hut. Some of them have basically changed the color of the roof from red to black, whilst others just closed down! :(

And thus, a newer pizza recipe was in the works for 18 straight months (throughout 2008 and 2009) due to customer complaints before being released around the VERY beginning of 2010 to kick off its 50th anniversary. Yeah, I feel your pain! Most the comments I have gotten so far were from stupid ass fake Muppet accounts that I had to ban for being dumb and repetitive. Also, I do not get enough comments! Yeah, I haven't commented on many videos due to work on Mashing All the Way, but this is ridiculous! I'm tired of being an unpopular nobody.
I want more people to spread the word about my channel so that mostly newcomers can check it out. But don't wanna be so annoying when doing so! How to promote without social media?

      No, Domino's is DEAD! >:O
Time to FINALLY move on from this outdated piece of crap chain. I say that Papa Gino's has still got the original pizza and some cinnamon sticks!

@@therealherrymonster1970 Yes, me too! Or a local Mom and Pop shop rather than Domino's Pizza. I care so MUCH about the quality of the food, atmosphere, smells and customer service, and my local pizzeria in Haverhill, Massachusetts is actually awesome! Reminds me of the BEST pizza place in my hometown of Milford, Massachusetts called Garden Pizza (stopped eating there in 2009 when I was forced to move out due to the infamous recession). With its Greek style dishes and familiar design reminiscent of a tiny authentic Italian restaurant!
Domino's FELL OFF (in quality, I'm not using those words as a Gen Alpha slang term) after 2008 in my opinion. The recession (oh god, why did it even HAPPEN?!) was the VERY reason we noticed Domino's quietly changing the pizza for 18 months till December 2009! Lost my childhood home too, and that sucked. I was nearing TEN years old when I moved, so I was affected by its aftermath! Wah wah wah! ;(
