Tip number 2 is HANDS DOWN one of the biggest and honestly one of the reason a bunch of photographers out here aren't making money. Spending money on new gear everytime something drops is not the way. Buy the thing, buy it used, let it make money for you, run it in the ground and then upgrade again. Great tips!

As someone who has a business background (dual degrees in business management & accounting), your tips are always spot on. Also, always hire an expert for taxes because the rules change almost every year.
Also, that town looks awesome. I've been doing some nostalgic/kitchy towns (old diners/gas stations/motels) for my dad. I would love to see a video on how you find new places to shoot
Im going to go back in the sprint when that nostalgia hits a little more. One trick I use is google earth! ill look up a town and do the street view to see if there's anything interesting!

Hye Evan, this was a super informative video, thank you for putting this together! I will say though, as just a small little note I'd love to pass along- I recently became a full time freelancer and while your channel provides a ton of information regarding the business side of things, I do miss some of the more "creative" focused videos of yours. I get that you are super busy/burnt out/etc but would love to see more editing tutorials come back to the channel, and maybe focus on some tips for exploring new creative ideas while in a rut. Thanks for all the content! Just a little feedback from a longtime viewer.
I appreciate the feedback. Honestly im doing the best I can to make everyone happy. Videos like this is what has been growing the channel the last year.. and sadly every time I post something very creative specific the video falls flat. I really enjoy doing this but I don't enjoy just running my head into a wall over and over. That's why I try to incorporate photography and creativity into a video like this. To hopefully check all the boxes for the audience.
It just feels like the photo business is collapsing, no one will pay for quality photos when they can get a quick mobile snap for nothing.

For taxes since most of my 1099 income comes through PayPal invoices I use their savings account to save my tax money on. It's earning 3.75% apy right now.
As far as business I'm getting a new credit card every 15 months that give me free apr periods. Purchase everything for work on that card and pay it off as I go and can. Already have the money in savings to cover my card loans so just being smart and saving earning then playing the game.
the camera only (body) is worth 6 grand ? i'm fine with my Z5...
Its made me a lot more then 6K profits though, that's why I used it as an example
Is it okay to get a loan for acquiring gears for photo + videography business ?
ehhhh I wouldn't suggest it because i'm against debt like that. I think its better to build slowly and make sure you have the clients/business needed to support all the gear. and re-invest as that grows.
