    For anyone curious, the fighter seen at 10:47 is an F-35B.
    It's actually a pretty cool STOVL aircraft with the very loving nickname of "Fat Amy"

    Tidbit: the appetizer you had in the suite lounge with tuna is a local dish in Hawaii that we call poke, and it’s very common for locals to eat it at gatherings and even as a meal (over rice like a donbori we call it “poke bowl” I’m glad you enjoyed some local food!
    Also, it’s not common in the states to eat Udon, but in Hawaii where we have heavy Asian influences especially from Japanese, Chinese, and Filipino cultures, we eat udon more than those from the mainland (contiguous United States).

    It is an amuse-bouche. It is suppose to be a single bite hors d'oeuvre. Appetizers are ordered from a menu, amuse-bouche are just served at the chef's discretion.

    Hi there from Honolulu! Welcome to Hawaii! What a coincidence, my son works part time at Raising Cane's as well! Yes, things in Hawaii are ridiculously expensive, a gallon of milk in Costco costs about 5, 6 bucks, but in regular supermarkets like Safeway's or Don Quijote's, it costs about 8, 9 bucks. Everything in the Honolulu airport is very very outdated, old fashioned and low-tech... Among the people i know, we prefer Coke than Pepsi, and people here love Japanese food, poke ahi, udon/ramen, katsu, curry, etc.... Hope you and your family will visit Hawaii again! 😊

    A) Coke and Pepsi are somewhat equally matched in the US, but I’d venture a guess that Coke is still more popular.
    B) I enjoy udon, but I feel like it’s not really as popular as other Japanese dishes, like ramen, sushi, and so on here in the US.

    I'm doing some long range travel planning for 2025, and I'm planning to do this exact flight. The question is do I use between 60-80 of my United Plus Points to upgrade from a business class ticket to experience this level of first class service. I think that's a YES lol.

  • @Doodlesthegreat
    @Doodlesthegreat 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Most of my fellow Americans are more familiar with ramen, but udon is gaining in popularity. As with most Asian things that come to the US, it's more commonplace in the Pacific region but spreading eastward.

    So many Japanese people live in and vacation in Hawaii. My dad is half Japanese (hapa which is the HAWAIIAN word for half or hafu which is half Japanese) born and raised on Oahu. My mom, who is a quarter Chinese and born and raised here in California, moved to Hawaii in the 80’s where she met my dad. I’ve been to Oahu many times where I have a much older half brother and two nieces who are 30 and 28. The oldest niece is married with a baby and I just got to see the baby last October on my last Hawaii visit. I could never live there myself because it’s too small of an island. I will stick with Southern California, but I love vacationing in Hawaii. I’ll be 32 in April and might go for my birthday.
    Matsumoto’s Shaved Ice on the North Shore is great! I recommend it for people. Zippys is also a good fast food chain exclusive to Hawaii (it’s burgers and not Asian food). I’m thankful there’s a lot of Asian culture here in SoCal as well. It must suck growing up in the MidWest where no Asians exist. I still need to visit Japan though. I keep saying that. I have been to cat cafes here in the US but I want to go to a particular one in Tokyo that looks soooooo much better than any of the US ones I’ve been to. There’s also an owl cafe, a shiba inu cafe and a capybara cafe I want to visit.

      What a rich family history and connection to Hawaii! It's amazing how cultures blend and create unique stories. Hope you have a fantastic birthday trip if you decide to go. And those cafe visits in Tokyo sound like an adventure waiting to happen.

We were supposed to stay for august 8th ( my birthday ) but we decided we would celebrate on the mainland California. The fires happened on my birthday so if we were to stay we would have been in Lahaina and would have likely been injured. However Hawaii is still a very beautiful place even without Lahaina.

    No one can afford Hawaii anymore, not even the citizens of Hawaii. You should come to Michigan in the summer, and venture north in the state. Go across the Mackinac bridge and enjoy the beautiful beaches and everything Michigan has to offer.

    • @librarychair
      @librarychair 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Northern Michigan in the summer is something else. Great places for hiking, rustic and modern camping, cabin rentals, swimming, fishing, you name it. Camp at Interlochen state park and see the concerts put on by orchestra school students. Camp at Young state park and go out to the middle of lake Charlevoix. Camp in a rustic campground in the UP and go hiking on dodgy poorly marked trails in the most mystical of woods. Visit Lake Superior and do your damnedest to set more than your toes into its icy waters in the middle of the summer. Get your pasties at Lehto's, some smoked whitefish and cream cheese and crackers, and eat them in the overlook park. There's so much!

    Just depends on your personal preference. I believe most of our fast food chains here in the U.S. sell Coke more than Pepsi so perhaps Coke is more popular for that reason. Even though neither one are really nutritionally good for you personally I'd prefer the Coca Cola in a bottle from Mexico first. If That's not available then I'd opt for the Pepsi made with real sugar. Both just taste better than the Coke or Pepsi made with high fructose corn syrup.

    Japanese culture is very popular here in America. Udon, Ramen, Hibachi, all that cuisine is everywhere and popular. Especially where I live. As is Coke is definitely the most popular beverage over Pepsi. Pepsi is more known for their food, as they own a lot of brands of chips, snacks, and other things. If we are speaking only about the drink, then Coke is definitely the most popular one!

    Most Americans can't afford Hawaii either. They artificially raise prices because tourism is the only industry. Along with this, only rich business owners see that money. Most native hawaiians live in poverty.

    15:47 to answer your question. Amuse is usually a dish just to wet your appetite without filing your stomach too much. Generally it’s 1-2 bites at most. Appetizer is a bigger dish that takes more time to consume and can be more filling. Amuse is generally more luxurious than an appetizer since amuse is only served in high-end & michelin star restaurants while appetizer is served in every restaurant.

    Coca Cola is more popular here in the US. Pepsi tastes too much like liquid candy to me. I like how refreshing Coca-Cola is. Always have ❤️

    So here is some info on the Pepsi vs Coke battle. Ultimately, I'm pretty sure Coke is more popular than Pepsi sales wise because they won the better contracts. You'll find Coke in more fast food chains, especially the giants like McDonald's and Burger King while Pepsi is sold at places like Taco Bell and Kentucky Fried Chicken. However, when it comes to the casual chains like Applebee's and family owned restaurants I haven't seen a rhyme or reason. Coke also seems to have contracts with more entertainment and tourism locations like Disney, amusement parks, sports and concert venues, etc. All of this makes Coke more "popular" by the objective metric of sales, but it's ultimately impossible to tell definitively which is more popular when it comes to something as subjective as personal taste.
    But there is a real difference between the two that could help inform which drink people are going to gravitate towards. Coke is formulated to be drank while cold. The colder the better. It's why the best sip is when it first hits the table and comes out of the dispenser, and the flavor becomes less exciting as it warms up. Pepsi is formulated to be drunk slightly warmer. In my opinion it tastes good when it comes out of the dispenser when you don't get ice in the cup. Pepsi tastes much better than Coke at room temperature.
    I prefer Pepsi for two reasons. First, I'm not a fan of super cold drinks and tend to drink beverages slower so the formulation tasting better warmer works for me. Second, across the brand, including their sports drinks like Gatorade and Propel, Pepsi has more no and low sugar options. As a diabetic those options is very attractive to me.

    Coca-Cola is number one in the states, with Dr. Pepper as of a few days ago completely beating Pepsi. Pepsi is now third place in the rankings among Americans.
