    This is old technology used in southeast Asia for 20 years. Cheaper than most drains

    And yeah where is the water going Because you say it's going to keep water out of the drainage systems So where the hell is the water going Are you trying to tell me you made a cement that literally just lets water sit underneath it because it sounds pretty stupid

    there is a big problem with this idea, the stuff on the street is not just rain water.

    Why install that in borough park first instead of many other areas of NYC that have a lot more flooding issues?! Let me guess?! Went where the money lies first, huh?!😩

      like everything. All improvements are made on the richest areas first, then if it works in 10 years we might see it on rockaway, on south conduit, linden ave, etc

      @@PatricioGarcia1973 Borough Park is not the richest area. Nearly one-third of residents of Borough Park live below the Federal Poverty Level; it is the ninth-poorest neighborhood in NYC.

      @@user-bf8um5oj9qnot ALL of it is authentic poverty as the community there tends not to marry under state law, and therefore are eligible for an array of social services. Some of them make out very well.

    Those break up after one winter because of freezing water between the gaps. Toronto tried this on its sidewalks. What a waste of tax payers money. Anyone with common sense could see this coming.

    The water just disappears? Lol its gotta go somewhere when it goes through the pourous pavement. Where does it go?? Whats under it to catch all this water? It needs to be diverted somewhere right? Wait a second.....it needs to get diverted right back to the overwhelmed drainage system youre masking with this pourous pavement. Will be a colossal failure if the overall storm drain infrastructure is not replaced to accommodate more water.

      Can they install bigger drains and pipes

    • @fa3556
      @fa3556 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AbimaelLopez-hz3qq they could theoretically but its not that easy. Alot of NYCs infrastructure is below grade. Sewer, water, gas, electric, & some places steam. Not to mention the subway tunnels in some areas. The amount of work needed to upgrade a single neighborhood would take years and costs would be in the hundreds of millions if not into the billions before all areas of concern would be completed. The major disruption to parking & traffic flow to noise & dust from the construction is another issue. Just ask the residents of laurelton & springfield gardens in south queens. DEP had a major storm water alleviation project in the early 2000's. It helped alot but water is one of mother natures strongest forces. Short answer is you can try to divert storm water and it will help but when NYC gets inundated with rain its going to overwhelm whatever is in place to remediate it

      @@cjspykerYes. It will not prevent flooding, is will not be properly maintained, gotta move cars just to clean it. If car is not moved, it will be towed for a price and an inconvenience. And where will the water go anyways???….answer: into the same narrow drain….duh.
