The ultimate revenge on Hitler. This song was by written Mell Brooks who is Jewish. Then gets mocked with this song. People will listen to a version of this song for a long time to come. Each play is like a mini FU to The Nazis. It's also pretty funny.
Absolutely. Brooks has said that this is dancing on Hitlers grave, mocking him. BTW, Brooks was in WW2 in the European theater. As my students would say, 'He's got street cred!'.
I saw a production of the show about 4 or 5 years ago at the Exchange Theatre, Manchester, which was 'in the round'. It was superb. Only one way to attack despotism, racism and intimidation is to ridicule and laugh at it.
They removed the line from the Original Producers, where..when the audience is 1/2 way out..someone seeing their "Hitler" gets up and shouts, "I GET IT, IT'S A SATIRE..." I think that part of the scene should have been left in. However, their 'Dolf' in this one I actually think is BETTER than fellow from the original.
you know that chorus at 7:40 gives me some chills because it really captures the initial excitement of germans that they had during the start of the war when they conquered almost all of europe , and we all know how much suffering it caused in the end when they started to lose bad
There was no way for Hitler to have won the war just because of him, Hitler. He killed his best friend, his right-hand man, sent great Generals to prison, killed Coronels, Generals, Captains and etc made great warriors forcibly accepted the retirement card and there were people in Germany (Germans)always trying to kill him. As a British person, I can assure you that he could even got further but would not last long. One day, he would have got killed. He lost for the Russians (consequently lost the war) when everyone told him not to go there at that time because of the Winter.
@@j.victordp885 reality is much more complicated, firstly hitler always had in mind that the two front war will end in defeat, but he had no other choice really, communism was his biggest ideological enemy, he needed oil for his war machine and russia had plenty of it. @@kisiel901We all should hopefully know that Hitler over extended himself on the East. Give your head a wobble there. The original script/story was an amazing premiss. A show created to be the most terrible and offensive, yet ends up being a success. The 1967 film was great and this film was great to. John Barrowman was brilliant in this, with his mix of camp in a Nazi uniform.

Evita hasn't been banned in Argentina. Just any argentinian, antiperonists and peronists alike, know it's a piece of shit and a disgrace to the history of our country. We tried to modify it a bit but it's a lost cause; Eva Perón having the Che Guevara as a invisible companion is just too much of a clusterfuck, or too much american ignorance.
