Can't remember where it came from but it was TOUGH! I had to cut out several min of it just sparking because the video was so long. I dig the molten copper splatter at the end.
A huge dc motor from lays came into the our shop with the armature shorting out, gave it full power and it threw sparks like a angle grinder throughout our shop, this was the 4th time this motor has been in our shop getting re winded too
Wow, the fire and fireworks type show of this motor destruction was actually fantastic to watch. Sorry to hear about that variac blowing partway through the video.
we have threading machine used for our shop almost a year now but suddenly exploded whats wrong on it ?? does it bcoz of the hardness of the pipe i used or just something problem inside the machine i used my suuply source was just 220 volt.. anybody help??
I don't have one right now but if I find one you bet. We do most of our electric motor abuse over on the bluesmokeproductions channel, there is a playlist where we torture one vacuum motor after another revving them up until they explode to see which one spins the fastest. It is called electric motor dar racing.
+tall32guy Not always. They may spark abit when unloaded. Also they will spark if the carbon brushes are bad, or commutator is damaged or one of the coil on the rotor is damaged.
+White Dragon (Harut Rehanyan) It has been so long but if I remember correctly this was an ac motor, granted it was brushed so it could have been run on DC but at like 120V DC so it wouldn't have made a good go cart motor. It was also quite small.
That was a tough motor, amazing fire works.

+Austin Schwebel Sounds like a tough motor that has a hard life.
I enjoyed that! What a hardcore motor - loved the firework display too! Cheers
definitely a strong US made motor , a cheapo chinese one would fail quickly
VARIAC LOVED THAT.
It grew firey horns! 2:58

@ElectronSpark speaking of variacs, i hooked a dc motor to an ac variac and the variac smoked.

Poor ol thing! You really taxed it into giving up! LOL
I enjoyed itthat motor seems like it was made to last
Teslas in a nutshell
@ElectronSpark Yea she took a beating on that one. I need a bigger one.
Your poor variac! That hurt to see that.

How about a universal washing machine motor??(if you can find one).
Benjamin Snow that would be cool
world champion
why do motors always seem to spark when they're operating?
+tall32guy Not always. They may spark abit when unloaded. Also they will spark if the carbon brushes are bad, or commutator is damaged or one of the coil on the rotor is damaged.
Induction motors won’t
@@WELLINGTON20 right. True
but.. why??
That was awesome
i typed black metal fail - this is what i got
I just wanted to say the motor you know there were other motors and do not show them when they were burning out
Boy i wish my motor would alaways spark it look cool
Poor motor and variac
Other than that the firework motor show that was awesome but I kind of feel a little bad for you for burning out a poor motor even though it was tough
Ametek motors last for ages
The Romans would have paid you plenty gold for that motor.
omg wat a poor motor it tried ts best to get that power
2:39
Whoa.

OMG
Hotpoint Washer motor
It's not a hotpoint
And what was the point of this? You could have made a DIY electric mini-kart thing and drove it around

Just curious. Thanks for replying
Nahh, that thing's way too small. Not enough torque.
