I liked Uthred in first season, it had some naivity about him, he was afraid sometimes like in this scene without being a coward but just afraid. He become some tiresome to watch in the last seasons, a Ragnar Lodbhrok wanna be.
Perfect presentation of a "faithful servant of god". As soon as he's forced to prove his faith he steps back and regrets his words about how great his lord is. Pathetic.
how is that a perfect presentation? why is it that nowadays everything that was good and honorable is now shunned upon and seen as weak? there are countless matyrs who died with unshaken resolve and it's typically only faithful men who conduct themselves extremely honourably, not out of a fear of the divine but because their brains are healthy and human beings evolved to have faith in a greater power. not even christian but you are so weak and cringe it makes my insides rotate.

Except the many saints and martyrs who were killed and refused to back down from it. They had nothing to gain and everything to lose, like Saint Sebastian. Ubba: “they are my men, only I tell them when to shoot... Shoot” 😂😂😂😂😂 gets me everytime
"do you now wish to be clubbed, or will the arrows be sufficient?"
One of the greatest scenes ever filmed. Every line is written and delivered fantastically. Even the camera work adds tone
That guy ubba was football player in his youth, great!
This scene has a lot of light hidden humour .... UBBA being a massively intimidating viking, truly has a soft voice
And the place this happened is now known as Bury St Edmond
Excellent, firewood 🙂
I like this series very much indeed
why did guthrum just disappear after season 1?
He became Christian and his role is over
I assume the actor moved on to something else.
Hope guthrum returns later in the show!!
After being baptised, Guthrum no longer fight the saxons and rule east anglia with peace until his death.

Just read this part in the book. Uhtred is still a kid at this stage in the text. Still a great scene though 👌 👏
He’s only about 16 in this scene so it is more or less faithful
@@Adam-xb8xhnot really, ragnar is still alive in the books at this point.
Was there only one season? No there must have been more but I can only find one on Netflix.
There's 4. A 5th one is filming.
