Manny agradecele mucho al gringo Gruber! I'm Dominican American but definitely live stuck in the Dominican music from when I was a kid over there, and today you gained a new fan. That new album is 🔥. Lo viejo con lo nuevo, que chulooooo bro.
I am not yet into Dominican music, so I don’t know a lot of Dominican artists. This interview gives me a opportunity to be more curious. Thanks for the video Jamie 👌
Very impressed by Manny’s story. Very humble guy. His merengue gets criticized because it’s very simple, basic, just a ‘feel good’ music; what the critics don’t understand is that everything has its public and mood. One day I may just want to listen to the Santo Domingo song; it’s catchy and talks to the heart; that’s it; not every day we need to listen to elaborate music.
Very nice, awesome interview Jamie 👌 This one was a so much fun, This is what life is about, work hard and enjoy it have fun. Amazing what you going in DR 🇩🇴 ,Im sure your family very proud of you and we're appreciate you to sharing it all.👊😁
I didn't want this episode to end...EVER!! This was so nostalgic that I cried when I saw Dionis, Aramis and Henry. The doors will continue to open, Manny!! God bless you and you as well, Jamie!! 🙏🙏🙏

Manny expressed himself in english, like if he is speaking spanish. That's awesome!! Like: y nada, me gusta estar con la gente. And nothing, I like to be around people. That's how we express ourselves in the DR! 😁
Hi, Jamie. It must be understood that in reality El Señor Manny Cruz, as 90% of today who so call play merengues are not even close to play merengues the way is suppose to be play. I got nothing against any type of music but it bothers me that today what is so called merengues for respect to the traditional merengues should be called something else but not merengues. Me, I called MARCHARENGUES. Today so called "merengues" are better suited for the military march, than for people to dance them. So what the difference between the traditional merengues and today marcharengues? You might ask. Well, like Ronald Reagan used to say. The Tambora in the traditional merengues receives 10 blows. It's hit 10 times; in the marcharengues it only gets hit 3 times. 7 blows Less than normal. The Güirra following those only 3 blows is played like when you are rasping a block of ice for an ice cream. In the seventies and the eighties just in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens there were more than 250 discoteques and they were not enough. People used to have what was called house party in which the bathtub got filled with ice and all types of beers. That was basically everyday of the week. I always say that if Oro Sólido had never come out as a Orquesta, since he was the one who made this 3 blows instead of the 10 continuous blows to the Tambora popular. Understand that he was popular not because his music sounds better but because of what he would say on his marcharengues. In one of his marcharengue he would repeat a lot ___ The red thong__ The red thong__ The red thong__ like 10.000 times and people (-men-) liked that and made him popular. If Oro Solido would play any of his songs without words --Just instrumental-- his music would sound like really sour, not a drop of sugar. If the merengues were not changed to marcharengues the Dominican Republic would be getting 30 million tourists today. A famous writer once said that every day someone makes a decision that affects everybody else around him. Sometimes the whole planet. A lot more could be said about this subject but then this thing would become a book. Jamie, please go to: Homenaje a Joseito Mateo __ by Toño Rosario. In that single interpretation you are going to hear both, MERENGUES AND MARCHARENGUES. The first minute and 53 second is pure merengue and then at the 1:53 changes to marcharengue to almost the end of the song and then just before the end becomes pure merengue again. You are going to notice that at the beginning the music pulls you out of the chair to dance but as marcharengues then it is only good for jumping up and down for ALGARABIA (-HUBBUB-) But not for dancing. Which is a shame. I'm not blaming Manny or whoever wants to do their things the way they want to do it. This is just to paint a clear picture. Health to everybody. Jamie there are Billions to be made to whoever brings the merengues back. Not only with the merengues but the country has to be filled with more than 1000 DISCOTEQUES. Call me I'll be your advisor for free. Well I would need a car to move around. Arrivederci
