i just heard this on radio 6 - I'm about to share it with everyone I know because everyone should hear it. You are not the only one that's grieving, but while ever people accept the free market system we will all feel isolated.
+SheDrewTheGun Fantastic. Just heard you on 6Music. So glad a voice like yours with words like these is getting through the veil. Keep it up, let no one try to silence you :-)
+SheDrewTheGun Thanks for making this, really gets me thinking. Like, if you had never seen a homeless person before, seeing one would be a truly shocking experience. But when you see them all the time, it's hard not to get desensitised. Music like this helps us remember what is important.
+SheDrewTheGun This is so good , i could use loads of fancy words to express how much i love this, but really, the fact it brings a tear to my eye says more than any words ever could . Thank you, keep up the good work :)
My dad used to play this song all the time while I was growing up. I always loved the song, even before I really listened to the lyrics. Every word is perfect. It cuts deep, makes you uncomfortable and forces you to think. It’s perhaps the most powerful song I’ve ever heard. Every time I hear it, I’m reminded of every single time I’ve ignored a homeless person on the street and every single time I’ve given a homeless person money or a sandwich or even just a smile. Whenever I see a homeless person or the horrible consequences of capitalism, I’m instantly reminded of this song. It says everything most people are too scared to admit. Thank you for this masterpiece, She Drew The Gun.
Very few songs make me stop in the way this one did earlier when I heard it for the first time. The lyrics resonate in a very powerful way for me. I am not homeless but I live in a city full of those whom are so I spend a bit of time chatting to them as that is what I can do. This song deserves lots of recognition, a shit ton of airplay and should win awards on many levels.
+SheDrewTheGun You are very welcome. caught this again on R6 and it makes me tear up which is not something I do ever really. I'm on a mission to spread this song as far as possible. reddit next.
Saw this band at Neighbourhood Festival in Manchester today. Absolutely stunning. Not only heart on sleeve lyrics but the lass plays guitar brilliantly, the band compliment her so well and she even did a poem from memory that brought tears to my eyes! If they don't become massive there's no justice in the world. But then, there isn't any justice is there? A credit to her home town and this is from a Manc.!
Tears here. Fucking hell I am so glad to have discovered this song. I will share it with young people I want to empower....this song tells the story of my broken yet hopeful heart.
I rarely post a comment ... but this song is perfect for 2016 ... The Post Brexit, US Elections, the FRAC vote in Columbia to refuse to bring peace, and Syria, and any other part of the world where people are struggling this song is perfect. Thank you
3 years later and this song has only become more on point. The movement to counter economic injustice is growing and there is still room for hope. Luckily a beautiful song like this is bringing people across the world together and we are realizing we are not alone. Solidarity with the Humanitarian Left.
Truth doesn't stutter. You have such a talent - to be able to write and sing these words is a gift! This is a global song. We can all relate! Keep on making magic! :) Hope you make it to Canada!
I was thinking about buying a ticket to Liverpool's Sound City this year, but wasn't sure, until I listened to this. The strength of this song alone ensured the ticket was bought 5 minutes later. Brilliant song.
I cant remember the last time a song stopped me dead in my tracks and this one does it everytime I hear it. Its got everything, so much wisdom, so well judged. It encapsulates so much! I dearly hope it becomes a really big thing. Amazing work guys
Heard this at 5:30am this morning on 6 Music and seemed rather poignant at that hour! Managed to scribble down the name as: 'Poem by Cidre the Gum Man'. Hahahaha, for real, good job I managed to find it again!!! Keep up the good work :D
IMHO, The Garage, March 7th 2019, definitely in my list of the best 20 gigs of the last 30 years, and in the upper quartile. I see a band a week, have done since the eighties. Utterly phenomenal. And with the peerless Man and the Echo in support , perhaps there is a God
Come on people this may well be more relevant now since Covid kicked in. At a time when we are more focussed on ourselves its even more easy to forget the people that fall between the cracks. The choice of a cute young girl to voice the video isn't just a trick, it's the voice of innocence before it is distorted by pre-conceptions and self interest - even more relevant now. And of course, let's no forget it's a f**king brilliant song.
Heard these guys for the first time last night in Glasgow... and just wow.. Its hard to know what do say to do them justice...this track.. these words ... this group. I can't remember the last time I cried to a song at a gig ... maybe I never did, I did last night. Truly the most amazing set I've seen in a long time.
She Drew The Gun, just seen this shared by Billy Bragg on Facebook, brilliant work! Gives us all hope, keep on keeping on, and thanks for the music, from an old new fan! :-)
There are times when you hear a voice saying how it truly is. Such a clear voice in the madness we see around us. A beautiful and thoughtful call to arms.
What a powerful song, the narrative is absolutely necessary, but often times it's hard to make good music, that also embodies a great message. None of that is lost in this production. it's melody is catchy, its vibrant undertones come and go like kids playing hide and seek within the song, it's also a bit bubbly in parts but doesn't come across as a novelty, or campy. I really think this song was so beautifully crafted and should catch fire like dry grass being whipped by the wind. This song will surely be picked up by a network and make the group or artist a small boat load of money. Thanks for making such a quality product. Cheers
All been said before but there are some people in Glasgow really digging this quiet ball of fury - this needs more exposure and will do all I can, mere amateur blogger but "poem" is up there with "A New England" or "Good Technology" so high praise indeed, even if yous were not even born when either of the chunes came out! Hoping to see SDTG live north of the border in 2017!
An awesome take on the state of our country right now. Powerful and so simply put. Beautifully sang and deserves more airplay for both the artist and for what it is trying to get across, if it only makes people stop and think about their own attitudes then its a work of art.
i just heard this on radio 6 - I'm about to share it with everyone I know because everyone should hear it. You are not the only one that's grieving, but while ever people accept the free market system we will all feel isolated.
This is still just as relevant in 2023!
Created an account just to say how good this is. I rarely like stuff that isn't metal, but this- wow...
Why won't TH-cam let me like this a billion times?
thanks for all the comments guys ❤️

My friend in my class singing wow
I wish more people listened to lyrics, this song is amazing!
We feel this way too! Huge thanks to She drew the Gun for putting the horrendous politics of our time into such beautiful lyrics. Viva la revolution.
It's been many many year since a a tune has stop me dead in my tracks !! Simply outstanding

I heard this on the radio for the first time today, caught me completely off guard - fought back tears walking to work.

I guessed the one good thing about living in such shit times is the great music like this
I was thinking about buying a ticket to Liverpool's Sound City this year, but wasn't sure, until I listened to this. The strength of this song alone ensured the ticket was bought 5 minutes later. Brilliant song.
So relevant too now ❤

This Needs Way More Views
This song makes me cry. It simply speaks the tragic truth. So important.
Exceptional, I have all this shit jumping round in my head, just love when someone can put it so succinctly. Respect
Never in my 49 years have I witnessed so monumentally powerful and beautiful a piece of music. Thank you.
WOW❤

Best song of the year.....By far

Every line... perfect. Amazing!
Saw them last night. A force of nature.
One of my highlights at Sound City. Even vans driving past the stage could not spoil this boss Choon.
This needs to be shown in America!!!
The anthem for Cameron Britain, expressing everything that's gone so wrong with the morality of the country yet offering hope.
Beautifully, simply-powerful.
Yeah...👍 listentothepoets !

My 10yo daughter is doing this in her school's talent show in a couple week's time. Your words are finding ears everywhere!
