That’s nice. What about all the people whose lives they ruined before the data showed they had to do this. Also are they going to stop trashing gays at every general conference?
As an outsider, continuity thru education is essential in any faith. Parameters and guidelines have to be followed and enforced. It causes animosity between the faithful and contention.

Thanks Greg! I'm glad you enjoyed the show (and our technical glitches ;) haha) The Pride Center: a big revamp! Hopefully they see some light at the end of the tunnel.
The problem with the other side of this conversation is the lack of compassion and understanding for members who were brought up under the doctrine and belief that homosexuality was not just wrong, because of its sexual component, but was wrong because of its defilement of heavenly father's plan of families and households of husbands and wives. But according to you, it is not okay to ask questions or to show confusion. How is that fair?
What's weird to me is since the church has been around it said what it said about Blacks and Hispanics and Indians brown skin laminite and all that but it didn't stop the people as a whole from attending homosexual parents leave because of something what the bible and other religions were saying and practicing. Had other than Caucasians reacted that why to the BOM there would only be caucasian members. Insteresting. How many would be members if you switched laminites where people with caucasions skin? Like Nephites with teeny shoescompletely overlooked Nephi is from Manasseh and so was Lehi.
I watched the live stream a little earlier, and the subject matter and questions you have about inconsistencies in how each ward and Stake in the Mormon church treat LGBTQ members are valid and need to be asked and discussed. I very much identified with the shock that was expressed hearing about how differently some gay members are treated compared to others and how that is related to the pain that comes when your own experiences have been more negative. That doesn't excuse going into someone's personal, sacred space, that should be safe, with the sole intent to expose to the world things that you either don't like or don't understand. That is a vile form of stalking! I don't care if you like, don't like, know or don't know that person, what you did was wrong and feels like a very cruel way to tear someone down and make them feel unsafe. It doesn't even matter if what you are trying to expose is wrong or not as long as what they are doing is not harmful to others. The fact that others are talking about the personal, spiritual choices of anyone else does not make this right either! It makes me feel sick to my stomach realizing that my LGBTQ loved ones are not safe from anyone, whether they are religious or not. There are kinder, safer ways to approach this discussion
I think you greatly misunderstood the background to this episode. The subject matter in this episode is someone who has made the personal public, and announced his "sacred space" like a bullhorn. Charlie himself publishes all these details through his books. podcast, social media accounts, firesides, etc. They didn't discuss anything that Charlie himself didn't first broadcast and actually promote a discussion about himself.
Really mixed feels on this. On one hand, great news that there might be less harm. On the other, there's this feeling of "why do so many others get the backhand as LGBT?" Is it because they were perfect diplomats for the LGBT? If I returned, as a gay couple, would we get callings? Would we be getting sensationalized or left alone? Is this because they have a podcast of their own and past sports cred (Cosmo the Cougar mascot). I wonder how the leadership will treat this? It currently doesn't feel like the church is doing the leading but rather the wards and I can't say I blame that. The burden of decisions are shrugged off where they go local or to the shelf or result in the angst of being left to the angry mobs within who take issue with their existence. There are still many areas where the church lags behind and behind only Muslims as I recall. I remain mixed and supportive of their choice. I might not make that choice but I'd support their freedom to do so. I'm too far gone in terms of wanting to believe the fundamental beliefs that are refuted so well by modern tech. I'm all for the cultural/community but as a gardener on the East Coast, Utah is just too dry for me.
I don’t understand. I think most Churches follow what is said in the Bible , it is considered serious sin, it’s not me saying it’s the scriptures. I’ve been celibate for many years haven’t met the right person yet. If I had sex I would be excommunicated. I’ve had to accept Chastity, it’s Gods law, if you’re not married. I would find it very hard to stay in the church if this was allowed as it’s so clear in the Bible. As individuals I have no problem respecting Gay people. We should all let be one another. I’m perplex.
What is very noticable about this video is that you are being supportive and encouraging regarding gay people being members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints but you are generally very critical of the general membership. Double standards. How is that fair? Why not be consistent and inform Charlie that he's in a false religion?
I feel that you have violated this couple's privacy by sharing their ward information online and by attending a ward just to spy on them. This seems like borderline stalking. Please think twice before doing things like this. This was their story to share with the world . . . not yours to share on their behalf.
A few points you might have not caught in the episode: none of their ward information was shared. Charlie has been very vocal about his story. He has a popular podcast, social media, speaking events, he himself has told many people-publicly about their callings and their ability to avoid excommunication. In Charlie’s own words he’s not been excommunicated because “God blesses his children.” Nothing shared in this episode was new or revealing on Charlie’s behalf. He himself has bragged about his privilege. That being said, the reasons for Gerardo visiting his ward were personal, and something Gerardo wanted to verify on his own. In the past, Charlie has accused Gerardo of being untruthful, so he personally wanted to verify what he might see. I do value the privacy and sanctity of each person’s story/experience. I also recognize the importance of how much the needle has moved in Mormonism for queer people. Progress like Charlie’s must be discussed if for no other reason than to give some hope to those that choose to stay inside the church. I wanted to be very clear about what you’ve accused in your reply and hope that it helps to better explain the circumstances.
@@LatterGayStories I am afraid that this episode is going to ultimately harm the LGBT members of Charlie and Ryan's stake by causing some higher-ups to "crack down" on the bishop and Stake President for allowing this. You defend your decision by saying that Charlie has already revealed this to the world, but he is probably doing so on podcasts and social media accounts that may be under the radar of higher-ups. (Personally, I had never heard of him despite following many post-Mormon youtube channels.) Meanwhile, Mormon Stories is the most well-known post-Mormon channel and is certainly on the radar of busybodies looking to crack down on bishops and Stake President deemed "going off the rails." Just because Charlie has already revealed this on Instagram doesn't mean that he consented to have it revealed on the most watched post-Mormon channel. ☹☹☹
@@Leslie881 Charlie’s social media platform is larger than Mormon Stories’. He is also a published author that sold a book at Deseret Book. He regularly speaks to wards/stakes about his LGBTQ experience. He is not “unknown” to the higher ups. In fact he’s been featured on Instagram posts of general church leaders. I love that you are concerned about the impact on other LGBTQ people. I am too. And that is why this discussion is important. I want any queer person of faith who chooses to worship to have the same opportunities as Charlie and Ryan-not because that queer person is a Mormon celebrity, but because that queer person chooses to worship in the same pew as other Saints.
@@LatterGayStories Thanks for the response. I sensed that your heart was in the right place when watching the episode. I will keep my fingers crossed that this turns out to be net positive for all parties involved: Charlie and Ryan, the other LGBT members of their stake, and the stake leadership. 🤞🤞🤞
Thank you for fixing the technical issues!!! Yay!!!
Thank you for sharing this great story!!

It's always such a rollercoaster with their treatment of LGBTQ,. I hope they are moving towards more Christ like values.

Never heard of The Utah Pride Center. Do they have a newsletter or something? Will Google.
