- Marines begin a Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival course aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California June 8. MCIWS students must endure 15 training days of strenuous exercise, rescue drills, and a series of exams to become instructors.

After working as a lifeguard and aquatics instructor with the YMCA for many years, I can tell you that the Marines in this video would be about 100x more qualified than other "lifeguards" at US water parks and beaches. No comparison. Rah!
Unfortunately the staff of the YMCA that I went to work for as a Lifeguard did NOT think so and didn't think my MCIWS training was equal to theirs!
