I find the person paraphrasing the question very good and helpful. She shows an example of mindful listening.
In Denmark they say "don't think you are anything special". That's a very humble statement. "Being number one" is just a desperate attempt to validate the pride and imagination of the "ego".
If you succeed, you are not happy. If you're happy, you'll succeed.
What a beautiful question. And the answer just as beautiful. No need to strive. Just relax, have some joy and the success will come as a by-product :))
🙏Thats True 1000%💡I Remember this quote from John Lennon when he talked about his schooldays》The teacher asked him, what he wanted to be after the school in his life, and John said》 Happy ! Then the teacher replied that John maybe had did not understand the question, but John said to the teacher, that he thinks that the Teacher did not understand Life....
Love it! Wish I knew this earlier in my life. But the past is the past. Cam on, Thay!

🙏🏾 Thank you Thay. This is true, when your pursuit is true happiness, excellence (number 1) is the natural outcome of your efforts. I have experienced this myself in the context of studies.
Most of the time but not always... but it doesn't matter :)
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you dear Thay. You made me smile and laugh with your special way to answer, correct but fanny at the same time, I like it. Evangelina Cortes.
Thank you, Thay, this is very illuminating😊
It is necessary to look upon the unconscious threads that misguide us.
The key is to battle with yourself not with others. Become better than before rather than basing your competence to those of others.
Thank you for the lovely teachings. I am grateful to Thay for sharing his wisdom. If Obama being the US President i.e. No.1 is unable to do many things, what does No.1 mean for the rest? Happiness is the key, we learn to enjoy what we are doing instead of focusing on being No.1 which is wrong view of Self.
Even being number one will never last.
So true! I'm a little hard of hearing, but I got! Thank you Thay!!🙏❤😊
Wonderful! And so true! Thank You!
I appreciate this message so much. Ty 💛🙏
Beautiful question
Con cảm ơn Thầy nhiều ạ.
You are awesome!
“What do we want: to be number one or to be happy?”

The real test here was to focus on Thay over all the coughing. I hope everyone's health is good. A lot of coughing going on here. I know, why focus on what happened then? But I'm not because I am listening to the video now while the coughing is going on interchangeably with Thay's words.
Yes, Thay's sangha in the videos have inordinate coughing, sneezing, moving around. It can be very annoying especially when it obstructs hearing. Still, it's also a good place to practice allowing things to be as they are.
Is this were COVID sprouted from? There is always so much coughing going on 😂😂
If you can appreciate the depth and wisdom of his words it's not really hard to focus. I didn't even notice the coughing or at least it didn't bother me a bit.
True.👍😊🙏
It seems that Thich has spoken in depth with Obama about these issues.
He has no need to speak to Obama to know that he was only the puppet The strings are pulled by the Billionaires who paid for his election He who pays the pipper calls the tune
Danke 🙏! Könntet ihr bitte mal die englischen Untertitel korrigieren!! Could you please correct the english subtitels 🙏! There are a lot of mistakes in the Translation in it that disturbes the meaning! Thank you 🙏💓💓🙏
Thank you Thich 👍
Always well explained for anyone to understand!
Western society has lost basic happiness unfortunately
It's there, look! I'm glad that I lost my happiness, it gave me the opportunity to find it!
I have got it so badly wrong in the past and it is very painful to live with the realisation that I did so much harm to others
and then we came across Thay. Me too. But who are we to decide we've done harm? I've come to realise I've been wrong about almost everything, maybe that too.
"If you’ve made mistakes in the past but have now learned not to repeat them, you brighten the world like a moon when released from a cloud."
His example of the U.S President is so poignant.
Despite being the most powerful man in the world, any given President can't just snap their fingers and make everything good for us. There is never enough power, even for the number one.
Why set limitation to one who already free ?
🙏
could you guys do a video on jealousy? I've always had issues with jealousy with my self when in love relationships. I grew up in hawaii where women dont really have guy friends, its more centered around their family and loved ones. though I understand its not right, I still get extremely jealousy quickly. please help thank you
The mic should only record Master's voice.
Can that whoever was keep coughing, be self conscious, be considerate and be courteous to excuse yourself ?
Why so many people cough?
Wondering why she is looking at the audience instead of speaking to Thay?
Really disturbing how coughing people hijack these important talks and refuse to leave the room to cough. It seems to be an intentional (rude) form of disruption. Please show respect and cough outside!
There's probably a Thich video on how to cope and resolve your inner issues with other people coughing.
Every one of these videos sounds like the congregation is fighting an outbreak of whooping cough. Tell them to try meditating instead of smoking chronic for enlightenment.
