I have a 3770K too. Delided it, put liquid metal inside with ease and is currently running @4.4GHz on a decent air cooler on surprisingly good temps, but I feel like the below setup is still asking for more. It’s paired with a GTX 1660 Super @stock values and 16GB RAM @2400MHz in a Sabertooth Z77 MTB. IMO this is the best GPU - or equivalent - this CPU can take, and ONLY if one’s able to O.C. the RAM as well. Few people give credit to the fact that even the memory can cause a serious bottleneck in the system as well - I’m speaking from experience. Make your decision wisely and do your research 1st. Don’t shoot for something expensive you’ll later regret.
A 3770k can run a 4070, 3070 etc. A 1660 is not the fastest GPU it will take. I've tested a 970, 1080, 3060ti, 4070 and they all worked and scaled. Just not as well as it would with a faster cpu.
dont ever think about doing that. I just upgraded from I5 8500 to 13700k and I discovered that this cpu was holding back the GPU alot. and its just 3060 ti. those benchmarks show exactly what I experienced. the bottleneck isnt alwys clear even if there isnt a 100% cpu usage but its there. the cpu is just giving up in some cases without stressing itself
@@PhobetorXVII Most people cant tell 100 fps from 180 fps in a game. So the 4070 will do just fine. I have a Ivy hex core + 4070 and a 3770k with a 3070 zero issues in 2023. There will always be a bottleneck no way around it, either cpu or gpu. What matters if the game play "feels" smooth and well 60+ fps is usually good enough for the majority. @@PhobetorXVII yeah but it will be fine until you upgrade to a new cpu (7800x3d i.e). im planning to do the same, atm i got an old auto cad rig. i7 3770 with gtx 1050ti, 8gb ram (upgraded to new 2x8gb sticks already for 30€) and 500gb ssd for 140€. i cant buy a completely new pc with RTX 4070 atm, so im thinking about buying the 4070 to play new games on my 1080p monitor on max settings until winter and then im planning to buy a new mobo, case etc with something like a 7800x3d or similar. for the meantime im sure the 4070 lets me play max settings 1080p, i will not let it run wild bc i dont think my cpu could handle it, so limiting max fps to 60 should be possible. i only have a 1080p60hz screen anyways atm. when i upgraded to a new system with 7800x3d, the next thing will be wqhd monitor, then i have reached the endgoal. ...until i got enough money for a 4090 and 4k monitor waaaaaay down the line (would sell the previous hardware, gpu, monitor)

My 3770k with liquid metal runs at 4.7Ghz and RTX 3070, I have no problems, the graphics card at 1440p is always loaded to the maximum, but it's obvious that it's time to update the CPU, because it does not support AVX2, and, for example, in Uncharted 4, it can no longer run
I have a z77 rig and planning to buy a used 3770k for 80$ and OC it to around 4.2-4.4GHz and so I'll also need new cooler. I'm also planning to buy a gpu either RX6600 or RX6600XT but I'm not sure if it's even worth to pick the XT, because I'm afraid if it's already bottlenecking on the cpu with the RX6600. Have you ever check your cpu usage while playing games and how bad is the bottleneck on the cpu or if there's any with 4.3GHz OC and RTX3060?
Yea some people will put a weak 3050 using faulty logic (I want to prevent bottle-necking) and they end up slower. 3770k will scale up with each increase in gpu. so yes a 4070ti will crush a 3050 if both using a 3770k. Yes some bottle necking but there will be no pop up in your games saying "Danger cpu bottle neck is occurring" :)
