Hi Midnight Mechanic. They are both quite capable but the 90 had the upper hand due to some extra suspension mods and better tyres. A couple of things to consider are : both my mates 120s get better fuel economy with similar mods and the same engine (1kz-te) at 10-11 litres per 100. I get around 12-13 litres per 100 in my 90. The 120 has bigger fuel tanks too. 23 litres extra capacity I believe all up. My flares on the 90 have rubbed through the paintwork back to bare metal where they attach to the body. If I was buying another Prado I’d get one without flares, these are rv models in the 90 and gx models In the 120. There are quite a lot more accessories available for the 120. That being said I love my 90 and prefer the squarer looking shape. Hope this helps. Cheers

@@bushandbeachaustralia Actually I was going to ask the same question but you answered. I agree with you on the shape, I prefer the look of the 90. If they both had the same suspension & tyres would they be equal or the 90 still better off-road do you think? Also what are they both like on the road driving a distance, is one more comfortable than the other, say on a 200 mile drive?

Nice Prado 90 👍🏼 how come your rear Axle can drop that much? Which suspension have you changed?
Also did you got any problem on the front half shaft and axle during off-road?
    Great job mate

      Thanks mate 👌🏽
I have changed to long travel bilstein shocks and struts and removed my rear swaybar.
Generally I drive with mechanical sympathy and don’t push it too hard so no problems with the front shafts or axles in around 18 years of Prado 90 ownership.
      Cheers 🍻

Stock 120 Vs 90 which on is better?

Mate that’s a tricky question. I’ve never owned a 120 before. If you were going to keep it stock I’d say a 120 purely because of the extra fuel carrying capacity and the more aerodynamic body shape. They do get better fuel economy when compared with the same engine in the 90. (1kz-te)

In my country the 90 series is better coz it has the 1kz engine and the 120 comes with the 5l engine which feels very heavy.. If the 120 has the 1kz engine then it would be better i guess..
